This film’s plot, a series of interesting stories set in 1945 Great Britain, supposedly inspired astronomer Fred Hoyle with his colleagues Hermann Bondi and Thomas Gold to think far enough out of the box to come up with the Steady State Theory of the universe. The question was, how could a thing that is obviously changing, as is the universe, still remain the same? Hoyle wanted an idea that would negate the implication of the Big Bang that the universe had a beginning. There’s no science in the film, but it is based on an interesting premise.

This is a masterful bit of work on the part of the several directors & screenwriters involved. It is the sort of thing that can chill you & give you a wonderous bit of fun at the same time. On second thought, it's a dead scary horror film that that skimps on the blood, but not the goose bumps.
