I have always been a fan of actress Mary Steenburgen ever since I saw her as Doc Browns love interest in Back to The Future III, due to her charming personality. I have since seen her in numerous films where she almost plays the same character but not in this one. I came across this one years ago at a video store and it was on sale. the title and plot sounded great and after watching it, i was beyond impressed with Steenburgen as an actress (the academy thought so too and awarded her an Oscar in 1980 for Melvin and Howard). The plot: a struggling actress Katie McGovern, auditions for a role in a movie, where the leading actress, who also resembles Katie, had a breakdown on set and they need a replacement. Katie gets the roll but as the movie goes along you realize, something is not quite right and there is no movie as Katie becomes kidnapped and a pawn for a devious blackmail scheme. Steenburgen plays 3 rolls, all completely different from the rest with a great suspensful ending! Highly recommended.

I saw this in an old full size theatre when it came out in 1987-my friend and I were the only two people in the theatre-I'll never forget being so involved in the atmosphere and plot of this film. It takes place in an old house in the middle of winter and boy, do you feel the cold. Very effective thriller with Great performances from all!
