One of the most beautiful games out there.

This game is DEFIENTELY worth a purchase. At first-and for a long time- i was actually hesitant to buy it. but, i took the plunge and bought the whole series: dead space 1 and the Unlimited edition. Which is the one Best buy offers at this same price only thing is, they haven't seemed to update that yet. The unlimited Edition comes with Dead Space 2 and the prequel to Dead Space 1, called Dead Space Extraction.
I liked this series sO much, ALL i can say to prove how Awesome this game is, is that I went ahed and platinumed Extraction, Dead Space 1, and now Im working to platinuming Dead Space 2.
As if that was not enough proof, I went ahead and purchased the dowloadble content for dead space 2 ( called Dead Space 2: Severed). To prepare myself for the platinums, i purchased the heavy weapon downloadable content for Dead space 1, along with a suit, and a big gun pack.
For dead space 2 i purchased the Hazard downloadable pack.
My point? That I was hesitant to get this game, and now look where Im at. Dead space 2 is with out a doubt one of the Most beautiful visual games out there. WHAT awesome graphics. WOW.
but not only that. The story is awesome. It has a very strong story line. Pretty much an "alien" invasion, but very VERY original in the way that it happens. Not in the same old Tried and tested methods as before. It has a very interesting twist.
On top of that, its creepy as heck. Constantly makes you jump on your chair. Scary as hell. ESPECIALLY when you pump up the volume so you dont only feel that you are "moving" that character, but that you can hear how he would hear it. WOW. scary. :)
This with out a doubt is my favorite franchise to date. Im even gonna pay a printing store to print some cool images on some T-shirts of mine.
And if challenge is what you're looking for, the platinums for this game ARE OUTRAGEOUSLY hard. so This is DEFINETELY worth it.

I was looking for a scary/horror title, and this game fits perfectly into that category! Great storyline, graphics, and game play. Dim the lights, turn up the sound, and sit close to the TV!

Best Space Horror Ever

Simply put I loved the original Dead Space and thus when Dead Space 2 came out it was a day 1 purchase for me. After finishing the game (~14h) and playing multiplayer for couple of hours this is what I thought.
***********PROS************
A SURVIVAL HORROR: While Dead Space 2 is slightly deviating from Dead Space 1 in terms of it is being more cinematic (more dramatic cut scenes, more depiction Isaac as a character etc.), Dead Space 2 is still a survival horror. You will have to be careful of your surroundings, you will have to be careful about conserving your ammo and you will have to have to use different items you gain in the game very wisely to get through the game on normal or harder modes. So unlike games like Resident Evil, which has moved to purely action/adventure, Dead Space 2 is still a survival horror.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL CREATING SPACE ENVIRONMENT: One of the reasons I loved Dead Space 1 and now Dead Space 2, is it is horror in space. In Dead Space 1 you are surviving in a space ship abandoned in Space and in this game you are doing similar in a city in space that is going through similar terror. While you may find these two settings very similar, there are some aspects that truly distinguish Dead Space 2 from 1. One of them being taking place in a city, you will have much greater variety in environment compared to Dead Space 1 and everything is designed so craftily that it actually feels like you are in the futuristic city in space. I truly want to give you examples, but it is hard to do it in words and without spoiling the gameplay experience for you, so just take my words for it.
UNEXPECTED SURPRISES: This is probably the best aspect of the game and makes it actually a horror. There are so many parts in the game (and I mean so many) where you won’t see things coming and I am not just talking about enemies popping out of closet, but some really good stuff. I truly wish I could tell you, but I truly don’t want to ruin the game for you.
BETTER IN SPACE GAMEPLAY: Like last game, you will have zero gravity and Oxygen less space areas, but in this game there will be a variety of things you will be doing in Iron-man like space suit. I simply loved it, especially the parts that are highly cinematic.
VARIETY IN ENEMIES: Just like Dead Space 1, there is plenty of variety in enemies. While a lot of enemies will be similar to Dead Space 1, there are some very unique new enemies. Having variety of enemies truly prevents the game from being redundant and keep things exciting.
VARIETY IN DEATHS: This is a strange pro to list, but play the game and even if you are a good player try dying with the hands of different enemies and different environmental hazards. The number of brutal ways you can die in this game will surprise you. I personally loved it.
VARIETY IN WEAPONS: Again most of the weapons you get are from Dead Space 1 (which are great), but then you will get also some new different type of weapons. The best part of these weapons is they have alternate fire. So this makes using them very strategic. The best thing that has been about Dead Space series is it is not simply about going around and shooting enemies. Rather, it has been about strategically fighting off the enemies. There are parts in this game you will get hordes and hordes of enemies coming at you. If you simply try to get them by just using one weapon, they will punish you. On the other hand, if you strategically use your weapons’ fire and alternate fire, you will be able to survive through the terror and move forward.
PLENTY OF UPGRADABLES: Just like previous Dead Space you can upgrade your suit, your rig, your weapons etc. In this game though you can get different types of suits. I personally have loved this addition. This truly adds an RPG element and promotes you to conserve even more so you can by nodes to upgrade as many weapons as possible.
AWESOME BEGINNING: Usually in my reviews I only consider gameplay etc. as pros and cons., but the beginning gameplay for this game is so unique that I have to put it down as pro. Unfortunately I can’t tell you more without spoiling so play and find it out.
TWISTS IN THE STORY: There are few twists that you may be able to predict, but others I guarantee you won’t see coming, especially in the end. Every crazy thing you may read or see has some sort of meaning. Unfortunately another thing I can’t describe more without spoiling.
NO ASTROIDS: Yes this is another thing I wouldn’t usually list as pro., but asteroids in Dead Space 1 annoyed me so much that I am so happy they don’t have them in Dead Space 2 or anything of similar nature.
BONUS GAME: As of now (02/2011) If you buy this game for PS3 form Amazon, you will get Dead Space Extraction for PS3 move for free. I can’t say for the future though.
MULTIPLAYER: While I am not into multiplayers these days, I still loved the the multiplayer for this game, especially the part where you can play nacromorph. This truly adds great replay value to the game.
MANY DIFFICULTY MODES: There are 3 difficulty modes above normal. So if you are a completionist, this game will take you a while and provide you hours and hours of entertainment.
************CONS.*****************
LACK OF GOOD BOSSES: Don’t get me wrong there are some good bosses in this game who will kill you in some of the most brutal ways possible; however, I had better expectations for them. Especially for the last boss. Kind of disappointed.
INVENTORY: Dead Space 1 and 2 are the games where you truly have to conserve the ammos and items and for that your inventory space is very important. Just like Dead Space 1, in this game there are levels where you will go long sequences without seeing a store where you can rearrange items in your inventory. During these long sequences you will acquire quite a few god/silver/bronze semiconductors (huge chunks of credits) and schematics for new items and they will occupy huge part of your inventory which should be used for ammos and health. I personally found it annoying. They should have separate space or should not take any space in your inventory at all.
************CONCLUSION*************
Pros for this game clearly outweigh the Cons. If you are a Dead Space fan or like horror games, this game is a must. So do yourself justice and buy and play it at your earliest opportunity. I give it 9.5/10.

what a great game, The sounds, Graphics, Story Line, the controls are almost the same as the first just with little good updates, The Environment is just creepy. its creepy from the beginning to the end, its a really exiting game, it does have 1 or 2 moments which it slows down a little but the creepiness is still there. this game could be really intense. The multiplayer is really good, i was expecting it to be horrible because this game seems more of a single player game, but when i played it, i kinda got addicted to it.
best game i have played for the PS3 so far, hopefully they will have a 3rd one =]

And I play a lot of video games!
This is an absolutely Amazing game! So if you're on here wondering if you should buy...BUY IT! The single player story is the best part and the story, graphics, action, etc. are all the best I've seen in a long time. If you liked the first one this ones even better (not tons but better for sure) I recommend playing with a good set of headphones in the dark! Sound in this game is out of this world! It's not that scary this time around as compared to the first but as I stated overall it's a better game.
Multiplayer is decent and I enjoy playing it in small doses, but it gets a little repetitive at times - still fun to play - just not nearly as good as the single player mode.

How in the world did they manage to top the first Dead Space? Well who knows but they did. From the very first second you start playing the tension and fear is clawing into you. Not to mention the graphics and the sound are stellar. The surround sound is terrifying at times. They really make great use of it. The game gets pretty hard at the end. It's almost at the point of too hard but with the right strategy it's not impossible. The story is astounding and there needs to be a movie made for this. I had high expectations and as a Dead Space fan I am very pleased.

I have always been a fan of the RE franchise. However, I have to admit that when I first played the first Dead Space, I was amazed. That is how survival horror video games should be. As soon as I heard that Dead Space 2 was coming out, I was really hoping that it would be at least as great as the first one. It exceeded my expectations.
DS2 has great storyline, great graphics, great sound. If you do not like gory video games you should not buy it.
The only thing disappointing about this game is the online play. It is not very good. However, I did not buy this game for the online gameplay. I bought this game to play it by myself alone in a dark room!
Pros:
- Great storyline
- Great graphics and sound
- You can get combo with Dead Space extraction
Cons:
- Online play
- When is DS3 coming out?

A tightly crafted survival-horror experience

Man, am I excited to play number 3! Not only is Dead Space 2 one of the finest survival-horror games I have played, but one of the finest games I have played period. This sequel and continuation of Isaac Clark's fight with the necromorphs and his insanity is a fantastic, horrifying, and intense experience.
While I really enjoyed the first Dead Space, I wasn't too keen on the constant back-tracking and the lack of distinction between environments. I was very happy to see that Visceral rectified that greatly and refined many other areas of the game as well.
This time, Isaac Clark is a fully voiced character. While him being silent in the last game detracted nothing from my experience with that game, it definitely adds something to the overall experience here. Isaac is not only fighting the terrifying necromorphs but also his quick descent into insanity. Hearing him converse and argue with his hallucinations is harrowing and makes the game that much more intense and interesting to play. The voice acting is superb. You quickly sympathize with him thus making you care about his situation and what happens to him.
While the original Dead Space looked great, Dead Space 2 continues to up the ante in the visuals department. This is some of the best use of lighting in a game I have seen. Isaac in his suit looks as detailed as ever and just looks awesome. The necromorphs are incredibly detailed and are as terrifying as ever to encounter. Overall, this is just a sharper looking Dead Space. It's a very tightly crafted game and one you rarely see a flaw in any aspect of its design.
The gameplay is as fun and intense as ever. New weapons and enemies are introduced to encourage more experimentation(even though I just stuck with upgrading the plasma cutter and line gun). If the necromorphs from the original Dead Space didn't really give you goose bumps, wait until you meet the necromorphed infants and children for the first time. Their tormented wails and cries as they crawled and sprinted towards me made me shudder and cower in fear multiple times during the game. Fortunately, the aiming and firing of your weapons is smooth and accurate allowing you to severe the necessary vital appendages of your enemies easily.
Of course, no survival-horror game can do without a great audio experience. Dead Space more than delivers on this front as well. The voice acting is excellent all around. The music fits perfectly with the game. The sounds from the environment are used perfectly and each necromorph has their own terrifying sound. All of this comes through clearly and powerfully especially with a sound system.
I can't recommend this game enough to action/survival-horror fans. This is an expertly crafted game that everyone(if you're old enough to stomach the extreme gore/violence that is) should give a chance. It's extremely thrilling and purely entertaining. Very worthy of 5 stars.

Deadspace 2 was an awesome game with a few things the need to work on. Frist it's been a long time since I was scared, with the media being what it is today were almost desensitized to the point were nothing scares us anymore but this game did. There were moments from the beginning to the end that made me jump and hold my breath. The game was nice and long unlike most of the games out there that are more for the online then the game itself there by the game developers focus on the online and it seems like they don't care about the single player anymore. Not this game. It was also refresh to play a true survival horror were ammo was scarce and you couldn't just go "rambo style". The single player was top notch 9.5 out of 10. The multiplayer not so much. It is really unbalanced were the humans have the advantage and yet it's the necromophs that always win. The necromophs have to come out of the vents and by doing so they can be spotted coming out and killed before you have a chance to fight, the humans can just dismember you. That being said, all necromophs have to do is stop the humans from completing the objectives, that's not that hard to do unless the humans work together and as we all know that usually does not happen. Also EA has decided to just like with Medal of Honor that you have to have a code to get on to the multiplayer. If you buy this game used you will have to buy the multiplayer code to play. I think that's wrong it's just a way to double dip for prophets. I was really hopeing for some co-op but that did not happen. I think playing together on the single player would be a lot of fun. The online brings the rating down from the single play at a 9.5 out of 10(it would have been a 10 out of 10 if there were co-op) to a 9.0 out of 10. diffidently a most own.

Definitely an Owner not a renter. Replay value is worth it, It's taken me two playthru's just to get enuff power nodes to fill all circuits for my RIG, stasis, and four weapons. (Still have four weapons to maximize on this, my 3rd playthru)
You unlock hard core mode after your first successful run (not sure if playing easy will do this). I just started zealot diffculty and am gearing up for hard core, only three saves allotted for this difficulty.
Plenty to enjoy.

Excellent Game, Better Than the First

Dead Space 2 is a few steps up from the first. Much better level design and layouts, they have a very creepy feel when compared to the lifeless spaceship of the first game. The surreality of the levels sometimes has an eerie feel comparable to Bioshock. Intense scary moments, more gruesome death scenes, more challenging game modes, and WAY more fun than the original. The Multiplayer was a lot of fun too, similar to Left 4 Dead versus mode. My only complaint is that the story did get a bit weak at moments, I found myself forgetting what my goal even was. The dead girlfriend element got boring and was a predictable part of the story. Overall a great game; I agree with IGN's 9/10 rating.

One of the best games I've played on the Ps3, and one of the best Thriller games by far. The graphics are amazing, especially if you love astronomy, planets and other aspects of the universe. I remember having my character stand in one position as I took a picture with my phone because the graphics were ridiculously beautiful! The game is a little bit more predictable than the first, since in first game, you don't know what to expect from the game. In the second game, you start to anticipate where creatures will come from, but that doesn't mean it gets any easier or diminishes its gameplay by any means, because this time around, they are more swarms of creatures. Also, the 360 aspect they added to is amazing and looks amazing. It definitely adds another element to the gameplay, The graphics are a lot more crisp as well. The story I never really particularly cared for, which is my opinion, but I really thought the gameplay always stood out and definitely unique to other first person shooters. Still one of the only games that scares me a bit to play at night in the dark by myself, but I prefer it only that way!

If you haven't played the first Dead Space game, I definitely recommend doing so to get a feel for the gameplay and plot. Also, if you have a Move controller, try to hunt down the Limited Edition version because it has the Dead Space: Extraction game included on the disc. It's a shooter-on-rails that originally released for the Nintendo Wii and was ported over to the PS3 version -- it's one of the better games available for the Move.
