I first saw this at the theatres back in 1981. It scared the socks off me! It was released a year later for video rental only and was never produced for retail. I couldn't understand why, either. It has a stellar cast with Ernest Borgnine, Maren Jensen, Michael Berryman, and Sharon Stone. It was even directed by Wes Craven! You would think after his successes with Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream that somebody would look to make a buck off of his name? I tried many times to acquire the very rare VHS copies, but to no avail. I was very surprised to find it finally got released. The BluRay conversion looks spectacular and the pre-Dolby soundtrack was beefed up as well.

Deadly Blessing is a lesser-known horror film from Wes Craven, who also created the "Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Scream" series. This is an effective horror film starring Maren Jensen, Ernest Borgnine and Sharon Stone. Jensen portrays a recent widow whose husband (Howard Barr, from TV's "The Fall Guy") had left an Amish-like cult of religious farmers and who had been killed in his barn in an opening scene. Jensen is visited by two of her closest friends, who arrive to help her through the grief process. Horrific events soon follow, including creepy scenes with a spider and snake. Is the Incubus at work here, or is the evil being perpetrated by one of the cult worshipers? This Blu-Ray release from Shout factory features a decent HD transfer with original grain intact, and a acceptable DTS-Master Audio lossless soundtrack. It also includes audio commentary, a handful of HD interviews, theatrical trailer and some additional promotional material.

I had seen this horror film years ago but could not remember the name. I found out the name on the internet and ordered it. Loved it as much as I did the first time. Had a lot of movie stars in it that you will recognize. I will watch it again. Enjoy!

Underrated Wes Craven film, officially available for the first time ever in America on DVD/Blu Ray (throw away those bootlegs) - with super picture quality, Wes Craven commentary, and cast interviews :)
