    Give Metallica some credit.

It cracks me up about some people. That they allways have to criticize when music groups try something differant. Metallica, Slipknot etc. There are way too many people out there who think Metallica should have stayed stuck in one style of music. There is only so much thrash/speed metal a band can do. And since Metallica did it EXTREMELY well (in other words, almost every song on all those early albums was classic), there wasn't much more they could do musically with that style of music. What did you want from them? Should they keep re-making the "Master of Puppets" album until they became boring and insignificant? They needed to change. There seems to be a lot to look forward to with this album. And you know what? If Metallica stuck with the same old formula in the last 15 years, we wouldn't even be talking about them today. They would've died out long ago, and not be as significant in the music world as they are today. I for one. Am looking foward to this release.

    Metallica is BACK!

Is this the Metallica album us, long time fans yearning for the glory days of thrash metal, are waiting for? Yes and no. Yes, because Metallica has finally returned to their staccato, jagged edge style of riffing that first out them on the map (think their first 4 albums) and have come to terms to their true calling in life (being thrash metal's pioneering band). No, because although the testosterone level on most of the songs is at a record high, Metallica can't seem to stamp a good, catchy hook on their metal mayhem. It's a nice mixtiure of vintage Metallica and a little bit of their 90's output. For those fearing on getting another "St. Anger", rest assured that this album is far and beyond superior in every way. Let's just pray they STAY this way!!!

    Sounds Good

Don't pay any attention to the review below. The guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Metallica didn't stop free download. Lars their drummer did. And yes I think he's a whinny little b**ch. Besides the music is how bands make money and without that their broke. And I'm speaking for all music artists alike, but that's not the point. The point is is that this album that we as Metallica fans have bin waiting for for years. I've heard about 3 songs now and they all sound good. It's like ...And Justice For All mixed with the Black album. Some thrashy with melodic fling. It's worth buying if you like Metallica and metal in general.

    Give it a chance

This is in response to the prior review of this CD. First of all "erichatesmetallicanow", why would you but this CD if supposedly Metallica sucks so much. Secondly why in the world would you complain about it on a Best buy review, commenting that a CD that is not out yet has terrible sound that is not worth listening to. I have meet all the band member and they are all amazing musicians with awesome attitudes. And I am sorry I really hope you do not believe that every song a band writes exactly reflects there life to the decimal. If that were true just about every band in the world would put out the most boring worthless music. How dare they try to reach out to their listeners. Most people have turned on Metallica because they hate "St. Anger", and I will agree that was by far they worst album. On the other hand if just about any other band put out "St. Anger" most people would really like it. Metallica is just amazing and so everyone expects amazing every time. Oh and how dare a band enjoy making a profit and music. I am glad that has never happened before. Either way I can't wait for the album to come out and I am buying the day it comes out. For everyone else I would say, like with any new music, give it a chance and don't judge till you hear it. You never know if you will like it.

Best album since ...and Justice For All

I have heard the entire album about 20 times already I'm not saying how!! But this album is some of Kirk Hammett's best work in over 20 years!! James vocals are a bit St. Anger-ish. I liked St. Anger even though it was poorly produced. This album more then makes up for St.Anger "Judas Kiss" is a heavy 8 min in your face song that could easily be on ...And Justice. "Suicide & Redemption" is a over 9 min epic instrumental song that reminds me of "Orion" and "To Live Is To Die" "All Nightmare long" has a heavy bass line to set the tone of the song similar to how the black album did then 1 min into the song it goes right into fast riffs similar to kill'em all My advice is listen to the music because it deserves the credit, and the vocals will grow on you! Cant wait to get my real album that I already paid for! Money well spent!

Lightning Master of All Magnetic Black Justice

First a disclaimer. I found our boys' effort in the 90's ok, some really good songs and some really bad songs. I find this album very interesting so far (3 singles in). At first I didnt know what to think of their first single. Started out with somewhat 90's sound but soon kicks up to a late 80's feel and a little early 80's by the end. Second single straight Kill Em All with better recording equipment. The third single I cant wrap my hands around yet. Good sound (Puppets/Black/with a little Lightning) and vocals (more Black Album angst), I think it will fit nicely into the rest of the album. I think the whole concept of death has been presented to us in a very intriguing way. And their "new" sound really does feel like a combination of all previous efforts. I love the anger that Het has in his voice (most of the time). Brings me back to the early days. I think the boys had something to prove and so far so good. Bring on more Death!

    Best album ever

This is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Some of the songs sound like a mix of Master of Puppets(1986) and it's follow-up ...And Justice For All. Very surprising to me. I think they did the right thing by adding Robert Trujillo as bass player, since he wasn't fully intigrated on St Anger (2003) He brought the Metallica sound I love back, on top of intigrating some of the more recent stuff into the sound

I ordered this expecting the following: * 1 “Death Magnetic” CD (exclusive digipack version) * 1 CD with demos of songs from “Death Magnetic” (10 songs) * 1 “Making of ‘Death Magnetic’” DVD featuring never-before-seen material * 1 exclusive “Death Magnetic” t-shirt (only available with the box set) * 1 “Death Magnetic” flag * A set of “Death Magnetic” guitar picks * 1 fold-out, coffin box, poster with pictures of the band members * 1 USB memory stick with METALLICA logo (enables digital download of “Death Magnetic” album) Don't even have Guitar Hero for my 360 or PS3. Guess some one is going to get a nice gift.

Just as REM resurrected their career with "Accelerate", Metallica has redeemed themselves with "Death Magnetic". Perhaps it has something to do with Rick Rubin's production, well I'm positive it does, but Metallica is back! If you were turned off by "St. Anger", then hopefully this one will bring you back into the fold. I just hope they can survive a tour playing this much metal every night!

I love to hear that metallica is back but my only real beef is that why is the guitar tracks only going to be available to xbox 360 and not PS3. There are alot of LOYAL metallica fans out there that only have PS3s so all I can say is I hope its going to be available to ALL of us instead of just 360 owners. ROCK ON FOREVER METALLICA

    Horrible Album

I never usually buy CD's but Metallica has been a workhorse in stopping peer sharing and free downloads. Metallica is way overrated and liked by too many people for their fake persona. They act like a heavy metal band yet act way different in real life. Music is supposed to reflect your own life and Metallica acts like a heavy metal band just to make money and sell records. It has never been about the music for them but the green. It's sad that they could care less about their fake music. On a side note they really don't care about their fans. I have a long story about them but I won't even get into it. In conclusion, DON'T BUY THIS CD!!!! Metallica = Moby of rock and Heavy Metal

DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION OF THIS PRODUCT!!! The special edition Death Magnetic Album is not a special edition at all! It is the regular cd in a regular case with literally no extras other than a code to download the cd for GHIII and GH: World Tour. The regular CD is $10. The downloads on xbox live or PSN are $15. This means for $25 you can get the exact same thing! Do not get fooled by this item as it is charging you an extra $5 overall with no benefit.
