You will probably want to add this to your collection. There was less additional material than I expected, but overall, I enjoyed another take on the original Death Note anime series.

From a person who has been watching Anime for many years, this is a really great one. This is a story about a young male named Light who has received a notebook from a type of afterlife creature. The notebook gives our young Light the ability to shape humanity by writing the names of those he deems appropriate into the book and soon after they die. Some of his decisions quickly become morally questionable as he works to create a New World. I would say that the animation is no better and the voice acting is on par with others, but the story is really what makes this series not just another Anime. I would say fans of Robin: Witchhunter would probably like this. To parents: there's no blood or explicit language, but it's still probably not appropriate for under 13 since it deals with playing God with human life.

Death Note from a different perspective.

This is an OVA movie to the anime series Death Note. It summarizes the entire series but from the point of view of Ryuk, Kira's Shinigami. It's a wonderful idea for a movie since he is mostly on the sidelines through the show with nothing but a witty line, evil smile, and menacing laugh that tells you he had it all planned from the beginning. Like others have said, this series and by extention OVA rewrote anime to most people. It isn't immature or shallow. It is incredibly intelligent, complex, and thrilling. If you own or just love Death Note, this is a no-brainer.
