Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber play two brothers who form a Jewish resistance movement against the Germans after their parents are eliminated during the German invasion of Belarus. As word gets around about their existence in the forest they've known all their lives, other Jewish families arrive to join the fight. Despite overwhelming odds, their group carries the fight forward during cold winters with little food and the most primitive shelter. 4 of 5 stars.

This is the kind of movie that can be seen more than once and truly be enjoyed, entertained, and enlightened. The real hero is their faith in one another and their will to survive in the face of insurmountable odds. “By wars end 1200 had survived. Zus Bielski immigrated to New York City where he started a small trucking business. Tuvia and Lilka followed and remained married for the rest of their lives. The children and grandchildren now number in the tens of thousands.” This courageous film tells the story of the Bosnian Jews’ struggle to remain alive, and their flight into the safety of the forest during WW II is exceptionally well-viewed on Blu-ray format. It is very easy for the viewer to immerice themselves into the saga and appreciate the Jew’s trials and tribulations just to stay alive and survive the unrelenting force of the German occupiers penchant for their extermination. Make no mistake about, this moving-picture is an inspiring chronicle – it is in every respect remarkable, and it is both well-told and worth remembering.

True World War II story. Great acting and a great screenplay.

This isn't a entertainment movie but one for the viewer to feel and see the hardship and trials that the Jewish people had to go through in life to survive. It is really good and brings out just a bit of what these poor individuals went through because to show fully of what really happen is way too much for a person to take in. If a person enjoys history, then this movie is worth watching.

THIS IS BASED ON A TRUE STORY OF JEWISH SURVIVAL WHILE HIDING OUT IN THE FOREST. THE GROUP BECOMES A FORMIDABLE PROBLEM FOR THE GERMANS AS THEY BLOW THINGS UP, AND TAKE OUT THE TROOPS. THEY ALL CREATE A LITTLE TOWN IN THE WOODS THAT THEY ALL HAVE TO SURVIVE IN. THIS WAS VERY UPLIFTING TO SEE HOW MANY SURVIVED.

I love this movie the actors did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. The fact that this is based off a true story just adds to the richness and I was glad to see a part of history that showed the Jews fighting back! I highly recommend this for anyone interested in history and/or action movies.

Defiance is a movie about a little known and little discussed chapter of the saga that is WWII. We in the West sometimes forget about the experiences of those in the East. There is a powerful story to be told. It does get bogged down in a few places, but is still a good movie.

Defiance follows the story of three Russian brothers who begin to gather fleeing Jews in the Belorus woods. Eventually the 3 would save 1,200 Jews from death. In the woods they built there own society evading the Germans every step of the way.

Based on true events of two brothers who turned a group refugees into freedom fighters.. An inspirational and compelling story how ordinary citizens were motivated by the two brothers to fight against great odds.

This is a well written movie and awesome acting. It makes you realize what the war was actually like, and makes you realize how people are treating each other all the time and judgeing each other..........

Daniel Craig is the lead but Liev Schreiber and the rest of the cast are the true stars. The brothers are more heroic than Oskar Schindler. It's too bad Steven Spielberg didn't choose this story.

This is the best non-Bond Daniel Craig movie I've seen. Not saying much because the only other I've watched is Cowboys vs. Aliens (terrible, but hey! It's got Olivia Wilde!) Good movie tho.

Fabulous move based on a true story. After watching this you won't complain about your life.

A story of Belo Russian brothers who were able to rescue hundreds of Jews from the WWII German Army. Unselfish sacrificing and successful brothers who eventually immigrated to the USA.

Great movie at a great price! Best buy has great prices on the Blue Ray's. I prefer to buy all my movies from Best Buy because of the reasonable prices and the reward points offered.

About people surviving extremely tough conditions and try to achieve something more good movie definitely a watch and got it for a steal of a price a Best Buy!

Incredible story based on true events. Great story and fantastic acting. You'll be cheering every time they have a battle with the Germans. One of my favorite movies.

This is a great move if you like psychological thrillers. Very well acted and provided lots of insight into the mental toughness that's needed to conquer someone's Goliath.

Story about Jews fleeing German death squads and fighting back against their occupiers and survive for years in forest hideouts. Very moving story and quite well-acted.
