Running off a 65 watt per channel amp, very clear , bass as good as your gonna get outdoors with out a sub. Remember the bass is disigned to bounce off the house. I cant speak for mountng them in the open and has a 20 hour break in period.

I did a lot of research on some outdoor speaker and based on the previous reviews i went with these and I love them. I have them hooked up to Zone 2 of my Yamaha receiver and i can be outside and change the song, input, and volume all from my iPhone. I had the speakers turned down and went to the end of my yard and you could still hear them which is great.

The Definitive speakers are awesome in sound quality,rich high in background music crisp voice, nice bass, versatile sound in left to right signals, with clear clarity midrange. The tweeters are outstanding. I purchased a second pair to cover a surround sound in our garden area. I AM waiting on the last speaker that is on backorder from Best Buy

I mounted two of these above/behind the listener/viewer. (Indoors) They have a very strong output, including bass. I often forget they are there until music or a movie call for them, but THEN they get my attention! Exactly the effect I was looking for when I designed my system. I've thought about adding a few for the backyard, but I'm afraid I'd blow the neighbors away. :-)

Went between these and the DefTech 6500's. These are used around our new pool so I went with the 5500. Man I LOVE them. Running through a Denon Amp and the sound is amazing. Would 100% buy again. I have a lot of DefTech and never have I been wrong getting them. Quality!

These speakers are the best outdoor investment I have purchased this year! The audio is so crisp and clear. I have them connected to a Yamaha receiver and play my CD's and MP3s. The range on the speakers is tremendous. I have a 100ft x 300ft back yard and I can hear the music clearly. The quality can't be beat for the price. The installation was really easy and took me about 2 hours to install. I would consider myself pretty handy. You will not regret this purchase!

I've been using these for about a month now on our backyard deck via zone 2 on my Denon AVR....mostly Pandora or my iTunes library via Apple TV/Airplay. Yes, it's compressed digital music (converted to analog as the AVR cannot output digital signals through zone 2-something I learned while researching adding outdoor speakers) but they sound great. I listened to several others in the store and these won out. They simply sounded better than everything else Best Buy had to offer. There are more expensive and potentially better speakers out there but naturally I wanted to hear what I was buying. I was a little reluctant to spend so much when I anticipated only using them a few times from April to October. However, they sound so good, I've made more time to sit outside and enjoy them. Plus, they were on sale that week so I pulled the trigger. I brought these Def Techs home and compared them to another great pair from Best Buy, the Klipsch KHO-7. While the Kilpsch sounded and looked great and were cheaper, they sounded, well, like outdoor speakers. Hard to explain since sound is so subjective. The Def Techs sounded more like quality indoor speakers in a weatherproof housing. Plus, they looked better installed. If you have the extra cash and are serious about good sound (even if only pumping compressed digital music through them), these are a great buy.

I love my new DT all-weather speakers. I made a change to my receiver and when I did, needed a pair of all-weather speakers. After reading multiple reviews from different sources I came to the conclusion that you get what you pay for. They were easy to install vertically and I love to listen to music now while grilling or just chilling outside. Fits perfectly with my YAMAHA Aventage 750A. Party mode kicks it up a notch.

Great full range sound at an afordable cost! Fills a backyard easily, bought two AW5500 as well and the four of these even on low volume rock the yard.

The passive woofer to offer better lows is a great idea. It sounds great! The passive design may limit your mounting options if you desire to maximize bass. Brackets and speakers are tough but good looking. Personally I would have made the mounting bracket square vs. having a designer curve. It's not necessary and slows installaion. Still this is a great sounding speaker with solid construction. The biggest drawback? You will want more to fill your backyard with sound.

I purchased two of these to replace my old outdoor speakers that were on the house when I got it. I had concerns that the existing wires wouldn’t be able to deliver enough power because I had to crank up the volume for the older cheaper speakers but to my surprise, these AW5500 speakers work perfectly. These speakers put out twice the level of sound with outstanding clarity without having to crank up the volume on the amplifier as much and when I do, it sounds like there’s a huge party taking place! I’m really impressed and glad replaced my old outdoor speakers with these.

These speakers were everything they were billed to be! Great sound, easy installation, and I bought them with rewards points! Can't beat that. I am still breaking them in so I can't wait for them to reach their full sound potential!

I was buying a pair of open box klipsch kho7 speakers at a great price for the deck and was recommended Def Techs by a sales rep. I was a bit skeptical so I bought both. Hooked them both up to compare. The Klipsch sounded like a tin can and the Def techs were amazing. So I quickly boxed up the Klipsch and returned them for another pair of Def Techs for the pool. They are pricey but worth every penny.

Excellent sound for my outdoor patio. Really impressed with the sound and that you don't have to turn the speaker volume up to enjoy a wide ranging dynamic sound. They are on the larger side so if your looking for a smaller speak these are not for you, but the sound is well worth it and they cosmetically blend in nicely to our white siding.

I am completely satisfied with the aw5500 speakers bass and sound clarity. If these are speakers you are considering for your outdoor area, don't hesitate. They are outstanding for the price. Best Buy price matched an online retailer and I saved one forty off the pairs everyday price. The service in the magnolia room by the salesperson was exceptional. He quickly checked the other retailers site and matched their offer.

Definitely worth the money. Best outdoor speakers Iv used. Over Bose JBL Sonos Just found out the hard way read the instructions for best sound and longer life. Trust me

I had an old set of Bostons i was hsing before, making the switch i am super impressed. This speaker has a great low end bass and the clarity of my music is great now. Fills my backyard with sound! Would recommend.

This is a second pair for our new deck addition. The first pair is mounted over our existing deck. The sound quality is outstanding. They have been up for over a year now and we use them most times when we are on the deck. I would highly recommend these speakers. You can beat them for the price. Most outdoor speakers have very limited bass. These have a separate low bass radiator on the rear side which when mounted on the wall, reflects off the wall to the listening area further enhancing the sound quality. You won't be disappointed.

Big quality sound from one speaker, one side has 2 tweeters, the other i believe is a 5 x 8 speaker which provides decent bass or lows. I connected it to a Marantz receiver and it handles power very well. Happy with quality and sound thus far. I only purchased 1 because the triangular design of box is such that if placed in a corner vertically the sound covers or fills a decent sized outdoor area perfectly.
