Got too excited when I found the Open Box DN8 sub available. Best Buy labeled it as "Excellent" condition. According to BB, excellent condition means: Works and looks like new. Restored to factory settings. Includes all original parts, packaging and accessories (or suitable replacement). The subwoofer is in the worst possible condition one prays they'd never see in an open box. It was dirty, old, and the corners were damaged and chipped. It came in a generic box with barely any styrofoam protection. At least the cable was included. I wasn't holding too much hope that it would even work. But miraculously, it did. Once I set it up properly with my receiver and as-f2 floor standing speakers, I almost forgot the sorry state that it was delivered. My heart and my mind are debating whether or not to return it. My mind says I was cheated and should return it, but as soon as I heard it sing, my heart says keep it. Well, I went against my better judgement, I decided to keep it. It blended so well with my speakers, and it does sound as good as everyone said it would. It sounds just as good and as loud as my old dual 10" subwoofer from a very reputable company. The more I listen to it, the more I stand firm with my decision to keep it. There is another major factor for me to keep it is the price. At more than half the retail price, it's almost a no brainer. I cannot find a used DN8 anywhere for the same price. Not even close. But I feel comfortable keeping it only because of my BB Total coverage. Without it, I wouldn't dare take a chance on this subwoofer. I'm leaving my rating at 2 stars, which also means "Fair" because that's how it should have been marketed. I love Best Buy, but they lied to me about this open box subwoofer. So disappointing. I would recommend the DN8 subwoofer in a heartbeat, just not an open box.

I'm new to home theater. I had 2 Definitive technology prosub 800's, they made the experience really good. I upgraded to 2 of these DN8s and WOW!!! They give the home theater experience i was looking for!! I can feel the rumble!!! They were half off when i got them, definitely worth the price.

My Definitive Technologies Descend DN8 Sub-woofer has a fantastic sound. I had never wanted one prior to me also purchasing my new Dennon AVR S960S 7.2 4K Ultra Receiver. Together with my current floor standing speaker that I have had for many years and the Center and Rear Speakers make this subwoofer sing. The bass coming from the 3-8" speakers radiates through the living room. Some subwoofers radiate to the floor. This radiates in 3 directions. It can handle up to 500 RMS power. You've got to listen to this 12x12x12 unit to believe what it is putting out. You can make easy adjustments to the bass level and volume on the back of the unit. GREAT!!!

I love the fact that this sub is so small it can hide almost anywhere, yet punches well above it's size. For me it was added as a 2nd sub, but could perform well on it's own in anything but a huge room.

Small but does this sub pack a punch, excellent and clear crisp bass. I truly I'm impressed with this sub.

Small but mighty sub. Very tight and precise which greatly improved my audio for surround (only 5.1 digital) and music. I have B&W Book shelf speakers with center I have a small room 18x18 It tucks away in the corner nicely. It replaces an old 12" formula f12 which I thought was decent until I heard the DN8

I purchased this sub-woofer from Best Buy. I love the and sound quality and the ease of setting it up. My only disappointment was that they gave me a date for delivery for 3 days from purchase. That didn't work and I had a delay as the item had to be shipped to me from the factory in California. The wait turned out to be worth it.

This is a great subwoofer in a small package. It fills the space with great bass Plenty of power.

Compared multiple subs and decided on the Definitive DN8. Wasn't sure an 8" was going to be sufficient when stacked up against 10" models on the market. Don't let the small package fool you. This thing can thump, Also, love the design. It looks like a small side table and not like a sub. Well done Definitive!

For the size, this sub puts out great bass in our basement viewing area. Only needed one to replace a sub we were borrowing that was similar size. Was a little nervous that I might regret getting the smaller unit but it is more than enough for movies/streaming/gaming.

Small and powerful great sound from this subwoofer. At the sale price I think is a great option for small to medium size room. I really like the way it looks, beautiful finish, no one can say is a sub speaker. I’m very happy with my purchase

After Upgrading to Denon AVR-X4800 and HDMI cables. I decided to upgrade my Speakers. This Sub is so Awesome. Major sound difference than my older one. Not sure why Definitive Technology is pulling out of the market.

Back story, first. Bought the D11 as fronts - bought 2 of these to couple to them- Boom, floorstanding speakers. Pleastantly surprised. These speakers have a bit of an edge on the BP lineup - you can hear the difference in the finesse and the imaging. They stand up to what you buy into. But, with that said, they obviously lacked in the bass area- so I signed up for some BN8s. They hit hard, true, and with enough impact to really pick up everything I want out of my D11s. With that said, I would categorize these guys as "accompanying" subs. They are not mains. They are assistance. But, they do it fantastically. For what I wanted, I am not disappointed. Why grab those crazy 1700 speakers from their lineup when you can do what I did?? :) save your money.

a wonderful upgrade to my 2009 deftech pro cinema sub...very clean bass but no overwhelmingly very sleek and powerful.

I chose this subwoofer because definitive traditionally has done a great job with discrete subwoofers, even being famous for putting them in their tower speakers. This subwoofer has a small form factor that fits great in my room. I was worried about the outer cover that is fabric being full of dog hair but thats not the case at all. In my large open livingroom/kitchen concept it sounds amazing.

Excellent bass quality would highly recommend. Compact as well so great for a smaller room.

As usual with all Definitive Technology products are outstanding!! I had to replace a 10 year old prosub 1000, and am so impressed with the deep bass i get with this uint. Now I have all Definitive Technology products. 2- BP9040 towers, 2-rear surround, center 9040 and 2- subwoofers. Incredible sound whether you listen to music or movies, Definitive Technology is the benchmark in sound obsession.

I purchased this sub as a replacement for an expensive Velodyne subwoofer that was continuing to have problems. So far, I have been happy with my purchase. I have a fairly large living room and this sub fills the space nicely. For the price this subwoofer rocks!
