A: Hello Dan, It weights 27.3lbs or 12.38kg.
A: I'm pretty sure this question has already been answered. But for those who may have the same question in the future, yes it's ok to leave the sub on for long periods of time. It goes into sleep mode when there's no signal coming into it. But I would turn it off when going on long vacations.
A: When my definitive technology failed i called the company. They told me to break it down and remove the two circuit boards. The boards could be sent to an address they gave me. The price to fix was as much as a new subwoofer. I replaced mine with their DN8 model and it works great.
Q: I had Definitive Tech pro sub 600 that went bad, would this be a suitable replacement?
A: Hello, both of these subwoofers feature 8 inch woofers so size wise, it would be a good replacement. There have been some advancements in the design of the DN8 that has made it more efficient which you may find will lead to be a much more enjoyable experience.
Q: What type of hookup wire should I use
A: LFE/RCA is the most common way to hook up the Definitive Technology DN8 subwoofer. If connecting to an AV receiver, use the LFE/Subwoofer out to the DN8 LFE RCA IN. Subwoofer RCA cables are available at Best Buy.
A: Hi Breck, That particular model Samsung only works with the sub-woofer built to be sold with it. Here is a link to our Soundbar/sub-woofer package options: https://www.definitivetechnology.com/en-us/category/sound-bar
Q: does it come with a remote control?
A: No, there is not a remote control included.
Q: Should I be using this sub with my DT 9040's
A: Hello, the DN8 will prove to be a great match for your DT 9040 speakers in most rooms. Please note that a subwoofer should also be chosen based on room size as well. For larger rooms, you may want to consider our DN10 or above.

Got too excited when I found the Open Box DN8 sub available. Best Buy labeled it as "Excellent" condition. According to BB, excellent condition means: Works and looks like new. Restored to factory settings. Includes all original parts, packaging and accessories (or suitable replacement). The subwoofer is in the worst possible condition one prays they'd never see in an open box. It was dirty, old, and the corners were damaged and chipped. It came in a generic box with barely any styrofoam protection. At least the cable was included. I wasn't holding too much hope that it would even work. But miraculously, it did. Once I set it up properly with my receiver and as-f2 floor standing speakers, I almost forgot the sorry state that it was delivered. My heart and my mind are debating whether or not to return it. My mind says I was cheated and should return it, but as soon as I heard it sing, my heart says keep it. Well, I went against my better judgement, I decided to keep it. It blended so well with my speakers, and it does sound as good as everyone said it would. It sounds just as good and as loud as my old dual 10" subwoofer from a very reputable company. The more I listen to it, the more I stand firm with my decision to keep it. There is another major factor for me to keep it is the price. At more than half the retail price, it's almost a no brainer. I cannot find a used DN8 anywhere for the same price. Not even close. But I feel comfortable keeping it only because of my BB Total coverage. Without it, I wouldn't dare take a chance on this subwoofer. I'm leaving my rating at 2 stars, which also means "Fair" because that's how it should have been marketed. I love Best Buy, but they lied to me about this open box subwoofer. So disappointing. I would recommend the DN8 subwoofer in a heartbeat, just not an open box.

I'm new to home theater. I had 2 Definitive technology prosub 800's, they made the experience really good. I upgraded to 2 of these DN8s and WOW!!! They give the home theater experience i was looking for!! I can feel the rumble!!! They were half off when i got them, definitely worth the price.

My Definitive Technologies Descend DN8 Sub-woofer has a fantastic sound. I had never wanted one prior to me also purchasing my new Dennon AVR S960S 7.2 4K Ultra Receiver. Together with my current floor standing speaker that I have had for many years and the Center and Rear Speakers make this subwoofer sing. The bass coming from the 3-8" speakers radiates through the living room. Some subwoofers radiate to the floor. This radiates in 3 directions. It can handle up to 500 RMS power. You've got to listen to this 12x12x12 unit to believe what it is putting out. You can make easy adjustments to the bass level and volume on the back of the unit. GREAT!!!
