Customers are saying

Customers highly value the sound quality of the Dual 5-1/4" 2-Way Center-Channel Speaker, with many praising its clarity and remarkable performance. However, some customers noted that the speaker's size is a potential drawback, finding it somewhat large. The superior audio quality appears to outweigh this size concern for most users.

Great speaker even though it isn't powered.

Speaker was great in a 500 sq ft apartment. I had more of an issue with the service. I wasn't notified it was ready to be picked up so it sat at the store for about 10 days. I got it home to discover a chip in the plastic side but it was too much trouble to go through bringing it back to the store and waiting for a replacement.

Beautiful sound and looks. Hands down one of the best entry-level non-mounted center speakers.

Awesome sound and to be honest I should have measured the mantel. This one is a little big and hangs over the ledge a couple inches. Performance wise it’s a awesome.

    Best center I've ever had

I'm upgrading my old system that had Boston speakers and a Denon 1707 to a DefTec based system with a Pioneer Elite VSX-32. I chose the CLR2002 for my center after hearing it in the mag room under different situations, including music and movies. This is one of the best center channels I've heard in a long time for under $700. The voices are very clear from the children's higher pitched voices to very deep male voices. Musically, this speaker performs very well and should have no problem reproducing just about anything you can throw at it. 80Hz seems to be a good crossover point to my SuperCube 2, along with the SM350's I have paired with this center. If you are wanting a great sound at a good price, this is the speaker to have. It is a little on the large side but fits in my stand just fine, and as other have said, the "sock" is a bit annoying, but worth putting up with for the sound this thing creates. This speaker can also be "bi-amped" (google it for a full explanation and the benefits), which is nice to see in this price range.

    The best Center Channel Speaker

This center channel speaker blends flawlessly with my BP7006 towers. The dialogue from TV and movies are very, very natural sounding and clear. Its omni-directional aluminum tweeter disperses high frequency sounds to a very wide area, which is important because you will hear crisp clear sounds no matter where you sit. Its low end reaches loooow, so James Earl Jones will sound like James Earl Jones. I wish it had more attractive woofers and removable grill as I like to show off my speakers. Instead, it has plain Jane black woofers and a flimsy, hard to remove sock covering the speaker assembly. However, its superb sonic performance far, far, far outweighs its aesthetic shortcomings. Definitely a keeper, and a must have for any discerning home theater aficionado.

Not intending to sound hyperbolic, this is a superb speaker. Realistic, non-colored sound reproduction. A couple of clues: 1) Call (telephone)Definitive Technology (info at www.definitivetechnology.com), ask to speak to their technical help dept. and get their recommendation for a speaker system in your price range. They are very helpful and honest.; they were also helpful in helping me choose an accompanying A-V receiver. 2) Go to your local Magnolia Home Theater and audition; also compare to other speakers (Mirage, Klipsch, Vienna Acoustics, Martin Logan, Polk Audio, etc)--- let your own ears be the judge. For their quality of sound reproduction, size, price, and aesthetics I found Definitive Technology speakers the best choice for me.

    Best center channel

I've checked out all of the center channel speakers at Best Buy's Magnolia and I found this speaker to be the best balanced - the clarity of sound is wonderful. It blends in perfectly with the BP 7006s. When I'm watching a movie or just listening to music, I'm not aware of the speaker at all. I'm simply enjoying being able to enjoy the experience. If you wanted, you could even get a pair of these and use them as front L/R speakers. The only downside to this speaker is the size. It's 12" deep. I was able to reconfigure my TV to fit above the speaker, but it did take some doing. Bottom line: If you've got the room, this is the center speaker to get!

In process of replacing 8+year-old Polk/Velodyne speakers with all Def Tech. Current receiver is Denon 2808. Have been trying to decide on a new center to go with new SM350s, which I'm using as fronts in a small living room -- replacing an old Polk CSi5 (2-6"s) which is still great for bass/mid but just average for higher frequencies vs. today's technology first tried out a Procenter, very clear sound but way too thin even with manual EQ, as the Polk had spoiled me for bass -- went thru the whole auditioning bit once again, then bit the bullet and ordered a CLR2002 to see if it was really $500 better than the Polk for my living room. WOW! It is so clear and solid across all ranges, has no problem going low -- and it blends perfectly with the 350s -- normally I listen to music (in stereo) much more, but I've watched more Blu-Rays and HDTV movies in the week I've had the 2002 than I have in the last 3 months!! Note: I've been tinkering with the crossover, and appears that both the 350s and 2002 can comfortably handle 80Hz and even 60Hz rolloff at varied volumes, without any noticeable pain -- very solid!! Funny to read the comments posted re: the CLR2002 being too big -- lol -- everything's relative, compared to the Polk it's small! I've gained enough shelf space to put the Wii next to it!! Only 2 small issues -- "the sock" is of course annoying (what were they thinking?); and the feet aren't very long so don't give enough angle up from my stand without some "help", but very minor issues compared to the ultra-high quality sound Worth $500? You bet!

    Best Sounding Center!!!

The c/l/r 2002 is one of the best speakers I have ever heard. I was going to purchase the c/l/r 2300 but after careful listening I decided that the 2002 had a better, more accurate sound, due to the bigger drivers. I liked the sound of this one better than all of the other centers at the Magnolia store, even the Vienna Accoustics Center. This is truly a remarkable center channel and a must buy!!!

Sound out of this speaker is great. Very crisp and clear and has no trouble keeping pace with the other speakers in my set. My previous center channel can't compete with either the quantity or quality of sound from this center channel.

The difference is stark compared to my previous center channel speaker: dialog has plenty of punch and is never drowned out by the rest of the sound track. Sound from this speaker is clear, crisp, and accurate.

    Exceptional speaker

The Definitive Technologies CLR2002 speaker is a wonderful speaker designed for anyone who has the space to place it appropriately. This speaker takes up a large footprint space on an entertainment rack but the sound you get from it is just phenomenal. Mumbled and poorly recorded dialog in movies are still clear and the speaker can play deeper than most other centers I have tested that do not have a built in subwoofer. This speaker is more than capable when asked to play extremely loud and so would be appropriate for larger home theatre installations. If you have the space and money for this speaker you will not be disappointed.
