They definitely make a difference. I added these for Atmos, but in general even when not in a true Atmos stetting, they take some work away from my 9020 towers, and realy make a difference with voice. They are well worth the cost, even though it might not seem it for their size. They add-on and attached very easy. I am running this off my Yamaha receiver.

When I first connected these speakers to my system, I had to actually go back and run test tones through my speakers to check to see if I had done it all correctly and that my amp was working. At first I was pretty disappointed, because I really couldn't hear much of an ATMOS effect from any of my (ATMOS UHD) blue rays. A few days later, unknowingly, I put in one of my familiar (ATMOS UHD) disks, and despite it all started to notice better imaging here, and a little extra overhead dimension there, and thought...Wow, they actually are working!... and the smile returned to my face. The point is this: don't expect these to make all the difference in the sound quality of your already great Def Tech system. They are as described--height enhancement speakers. Think of them in the same vein as purchasing a really good rear surround speaker system, or an extra set of really sensitive tweeters for your towers--they are not as difference making as say a good sub woofer will be. Unless your hearing is a lot better than mine, these offer, at best, a subtle ATMOS experience, (I think) even if you have an acoustically balanced room like I have. If you have the money to spend, or just want to complete your already great speaker system, these are cool as they sit impressively atop your Def Tech towers. Short of that, I might suggest putting the money toward an actual dedicated ceiling ATMOS speaker system, or toward another upgrade that might otherwise offer better bang for the buck. These are an expensive upgrade, and whether they are worth the money or add much to your Home Theater experience or not depends on every individual to decide.

These speakers are a great solution when physically mounting height speakers for Dolby ATMOS is not possible. If you have a flat ceiling in the 8 - 12 height range these work great to avoid installing ceiling speakers. These are probably not the best solution for a vaulted ceiling.

I purchased the 9060 towers, 9060 center, and the 9080 surrounds. Everything sounds amazing! I couldn't be happier, though I will say that I have a friend who has 8060s and his sounds almost the same as my setup...so if you can still find 8060s (they are half the price of the 9060s) and sound pretty similar. Aside from that...LOVE these. These Atmos speakers sit on top of the towers...and sound great. I will say that I've also heard Atmos ceiling speakers and I will say I like that better...but if you don't want to go through the hassle of installing ceiling speakers - these are the next best thing!

Great for dolby atmos contents. But, placement is very crucial in your room in order to get the best results. Also you need the right receiver and the right HDMI cable too to get the best of dolby atmos. The sound is very immersive and the experience is top notch once you install everything right.

These speakers are by far the icing on the cake for my BP 9040’s. I waited for the height speakers to arrive and thought that the towers were so good I would return the add on height speakers. But when they arrived I began testing them out, boy was I wrong, the height speakers add a depth and realism that complimented the bi-polar soundstage perfectly. They are an aesthetically pleasing accessory to the towers that are worth the money. I was also surprised that these small speakers were able to throw the sound in my room which has 12 feet ceilings in a large 20’ X 30’ room, but they perform well and I am very pleased with their performance.

You really notice these speaker when the movie has birds, helicopters, etc! Makes for a great theater experience.

I was a bit skeptical when I bought these height modules. I have in-ceiling surround backs and they sound great. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I watched The Matrix in Dolby Atmos. These speakers performed beyond my expectations without putting any additional holes in my ceiling. I just popped them on the top of the 9040 ST and they were ready to go. I am a Definitive Technology fan due to their build quality, sound quality, and longevity. I upgraded from my 8040 sets and had those for 6 years. I pounded those speakers and they never faltered. I would highly recommend!

Great option in place of cutting into your ceiling for Atmos. Works best with flat, sound reflectative ceiling. Note this comes with 2 speakers not 1 as stated. Do not buy two of these unless you have 4 towers. Also note you need the Definitive Auduio brand towers to use theses . Overall very happy.

An easy way to get to Atmos. Simply plug them into the top of your BP 9000 series towers and away you go.

The additional mid and upper sound ranges is immediately noticeable but doesn't take away from the lows. The appearance blend is very good; keeps the overall elegance of the speaker.
