DELIVERANCE holds up after more than 45 years. Burt Reynolds, Jon Voigt, Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox's camping/hunting/fishing trip turns into a nightmare of savagery and violence as a life or death battle with genuinely scary mountain men and the elements. Author and screenwriter James Dickey's cameo as the sheriff is enough to give you chills on top of everything that has preceded it. Director John Boorman's best work taps into some of man's most primal fears.

Act like an animal, you will be treated like an animal. Act like a man and you will be a man. Friends take a trip down a southern wilderness river and learn what it means to overcome our primitive nature. One man leads the way and brings his companions back to their higher nature with courage and perseverance and inner strength. An outdoor adventure none of them expected, none of them wanted but was necessary to remind them they are MEN!

One of the great movies from Burt Reynolds. Adventure , excitement,scary and terrifying. Also top 100 movies of all time by AFI. If you have never seen this movie I say rent it now. Rest in peace Burt. You will be missed.

Everyone should see this movie at least once. It gives a whole new dimension to "dueling banjos" and is a classic story. It also show why Burt Reynolds was so popular with the ladies back in the day. A suspensful, enjoyable film......but not for the youngsters.

One of the best films of the 70's! A great classic thriller. Fantastic acting, directing, cinematography, and film editing. And then there' the song Dueling Banjos to set the tone. If you haven't seen this movie, it's a must. If you have seen it, it's worth watching again!

I had this in DVD, but wanted this on Blu ray. Love the movie. Ned Beaty when he was young Excellent park in the movie when one of Burt friends starting playing his guitar along with a boy with mental problems (who played the banjo), just loved this part of the movie.
