Nice computer but I found a brand new model for less than the refurbished price on Dell's website. Product was lsited as refurbished in excellent condition but disk drive didn't work? This was a Christmas gift for my husband, we ended up taking it back and exchanging for an Asus

Geek Squad failed to restore laptop back to its original state. Touch screen driver was missing. Most importantly Windows 8 was permanently disabled by Microsoft. As a result it was returned for refund with no option for repair or replacement. Bad job Geek Squad!

Truly an unbelievable experience. Gorgeous laptop and I believe it to be extremely solid, so I'm not faulting Dell, but something is very sketch at work in the background here with GeekSquad Refurbished. I also had trouble with my activation key - see SSI0370's review http://reviews.bestbuy.com/profiles/3545w/2ccdfa8bf56aae3deb2d474902f98b29/profile.htm# - on the very same issue. It was missing 15 out of 25 digits and was "locked"...used too many times. Contacted Best Buy, who transferred me to the refurbished dept., who transferred me to GeekSquad (it is their problem), who said, contact your local GeekSquad, who said contact Microsoft. Unbelievably, Microsoft did give me a new key, but talk about enormous hassle! I'm confused too, the specs say I should have 8GB of memory, when I have only 6GB. Do not purchase this unless it is a screaming deal and you are willing to put at least 4 hours of frustrated time into this.

If it was an option I'd give it no stars. The Dell laptop itself is not a bad product. However DO NOT BUY the "Geek Certified Refurbish" Bought 2 of them a month a part and couldn't even use them properly as Geek Squad couldn't get the REAL Windows 8 on it and would constantly have to tell you that your windows couldn't and wouldn't register, since it needs the code that was original installed on it, which no one could find out what it was. After Hours on the phone, hours on chat, 3 trips to the store because the hotline would say I needed to go in and then the store couldn't fix it back and forth, I finally just had to return them and buy the brand new ones, spending an additional $300 per laptop just to have the working product we needed. The fact that they were geek squad certified laptops and no one could fix it, is and was infuriating. Then one person at the store told us we could get the comparable computer in stock in store, which the supervisor on wouldn't honor. All around it was a horrible transaction and it was made twice. I will never get my high ticket items there again knowing this. Between the Elk Grove, CA store and the geek squad across the board being completely incapable of fixing the issue. I am over Best Buy. Lost a customer.
