    Terrible Computer

Buyer beware! I bought this computer in Oct to give to my dad for Christmas. So by the time he opened it, we could not return it. I, having a lapse in judgement, opted not to buy any type of warranty on the thing. That was completely my fault. It runs incredibly slow. After looking at many reasonably priced laptops I finally asked the sales clerk about this one. I told him that all my dad does is surf the net and use Facebook. He told me this laptop should do the trick. So, I bought it. Pretty much from day one it has ran terrible. It came with Windows 10 (which is a nightmare within itself) and I think that perhaps that is the downfall of this computer. It won't load web pages and if it does you have to make a day of it. I spent a good 30mins on it today just trying to get it to boot up. When it finally did, it would not load anything you clicked on. Not acceptable from Dell. Even if they are trying to make a mass produced affordable laptop, it still needs to run. I wasted my money on this. I will be contacting Dell directly and letting them know my opinion. Maybe they can offer some advice. I know there are a lot of good reviews on here for this product, but seriously consider the bad reviews. I am generally not a picky consumer, so if I post a bad review on something, it has to be pretty bad. This is a bad product. Spend a little extra and get something that will hopefully work. As a sidenote, astonishingly, there were no reviews posted about this product when I purchased it. I try and always read reviews before purchasing electronics.

spend little more for better laptop

Its looks and feels like dummy laptop. it takes a long time to setup. click pad is unresponsive. it takes 3-4 minutes to restart the laptop.. screen flexes with slightest of touch and the screen is very pixelated. I bought this laptop just for light web surfing, checking emails and using MS word and excel. but if you open more than 2 tabs, the computer becomes unresponsive. it gets hot pretty fast, so buy a cooler if u are going to use it for long period of time. the only this good about this laptop is battery life. it lasted me about 7 hrs while i was typing my school report. its better to spend about $200-$300 more to buy a laptop with i3 process. if you do decide to buy this laptop, make sure u turn of all the updates-unless you want it to get more slower. the only reason i am keeping this laptop is because my cat likes to sit on top of it.

Got this for $150 for my daughter and after the 8GB upgrade yes 8GB, book only says expandable to 4GB, but I bought the PNY at the store PM'd to Amazon for only $35, runs much faster. Installed all updates, Office 365, and 2 years Onedrive 200GB, great deal. There is a spot for a HD but no hardware so far, will try and figure out if possible, would make this awesome and 5 stars.

I got this at BestBuy for basic tasks - browsing, MS Office - nothing more. The build was good and I was very happy with the purchase. However, when I started it up and used the available Browser, opened a few tabs, the CPU utilization spiked to 100% immediately. And, if you are thinking of just having a few browser windows open along with some basic MS Office editing, you can say goodbye. The performance was very sluggish even for the 2 or 3 open browser tabs. I wonder if it even passed thru basic tests for these limits. I was expecting something better from Dell and should say it was disappointing. Why bother making such a laptop and consuming materials, shipping etc. For say 10 bucks more, the Memory could have been made 4GB which may withstand better the typical usage. Its just an unbelievable waste of resources to ship such poor performing machines in this day and age.

Great First Notebook for the Price

I bought this product on sale. This was my first notebook purchase. Pros: Great value for this very slim, speedy, nicely designed notebook. Cons: Low memory. Sometime it does not charge. To the cons that I listed, let me say that I didn't fully understand the difference between a notebook and a laptop when I bought this notebook and now I know that the biggest difference is the lack of internal disk drives and extra USB ports which allows the manufacturer to create a thinner machine. It also has a VERY small amount of memory compared to most laptops. Retailing for less than $200, the price is what attracted me, but do not expect to use this machine for much more than your basic internet searches and maybe some document creation/editing because it simply does not have enough memory for some of today's programs or for much data storage beyond documents and a few pictures/videos. If you are going to do more than that, you may want to invest a little more money in a machine that is capable of doing more. I would have given this machine 4 stars but I gave it 3 because I don't know if it is a Dell eror or a Best Buy error but the machine sporadically does not charge while plugged in...as in no lights, no sounds, just a dead piece if metal and silicon. After a few days of being dead even while plugged into an outlet, it will eventually start to charge again at random. If you are comfortable with cloud data storage for most of your files and do not need a ton of RAM for memory hogging programs like media programs then this may be the machine for you. You may want to invest in a warranty in the event that you have the same issues as I did of sporadically not charging.

I knew the computer wouldn't be super fast or anything, but I only need it for simple tasks. It's an ok product but beware there is barely any memory so consider using an external hard drive. Basic computer that gets the job done. Again, it is slow.
