I upgraded from a 2014 Inspiron that is very similar. It has an i3 and a 5400 rpm HD. Just a bit too slow. So I wanted a faster processor, 8gb RAM, touchscreen -- but mainly I wanted an SSD. Those slow hard drives are the bottleneck on laptops. I was looking all year but getting those needs met was a $500 proposition. I took advantage of Black Friday pricing on this unit. I use my laptop mainly as a backup for a desktop unit. It needs to plug in and be ready, with performance not too far off the desktop mark. For now, this is perfect. I don't use the trackpad. I'd say the screen is OK, not great. The plastic is cheap-feeling but it isn't too flimsy. With the SSD and no DVD drive this is lighter than my last one. Overall very good.

Bought this laptop around black Friday. For the price we paid the laptop has worked extremely well for the tasks we wanted it for. It is used for a school laptop and some video watching. The screen on the laptop is what I would consider "good enough", I wouldn't use it for video or picture editing. The touchscreen works " well enough". I guess that is what I can say about this laptop everything is "good enough" and for the price it could not be beat.

This computer has good storage, outstanding speed, and the RAM memory shows very little lag when navigating between different applications. Also, the price I paid ($399) was the best I have seen, anywhere!

I love, love, love this laptop. It is perfect for what I need. I'm not into gaming so I have no idea if the laptop would be good for that or not. It was very easy to set up & didn't take long at all. I love the touchscreen. The only thing I am aggravated with is the pictures showed it to have a CD drive when in reality, it does not. I noticed after I bought it that they started saying "This laptop does not come with a CD/DVD drive". Instead of stating that, they should remove that picture. Thank goodness that wasn't a deal breaker for me. So far, so good.

This is a powerful computer for the money. It is fast and works well on my Wi-Fi network .. the solid state drive is bigger than I need ... maybe not you ? I like this computer and recommend it.

Liked this laptop, especially with SSD for that cost. Its awesome. Awesome speed and with touch screen. I loved it. Only concern I have seen is the bluetooth connectivity/WIFI connectivity is restricted to 2.4 Ghz. You cannot connect to wireless/wifi which is configured with 5 GHz. This is the only disadvantage of this laptop, if you don't need to connect to 5 Ghz, then I would recommend this laptop a buy

This computer is a good value and does every thing I need it to do. Which is not much, since I basically use it just for online purposes. I was hoping to use it for travel too, but it is a little too large for that. I was expecting this computer to be lightning fast, compared to my older Celeron laptop, but it is not. It also seems to be a little flimsy too. I like the touchscreen feature, but ended up attaching my wireless mouse. I'm still more comfortable with it. Overall, it is a nice computer.

I ordered the laptop on Thanksgiving day though Bestbuy.com and was surprised I could get it without going to the store as it was a doorbuster. The computer arrived when expected and it was running after about 15 minutes after turning it on. So far, the computer starts up fast due to its SSD and seems plenty powerful for everything I have tried to do. I would never buy a computer with a HDD again - SSD is the way to go. There should be more entry level computers available with SSDs. I really didn't want a touch screen. But, I find myself using it quite often as it is easier to use than the built in mouse pad.

Paid $399.99 before tax & feel like I got a great deal. Set up was fast thanks to the SSD & good processor speed. The lower resolution isnt noticeable surfing the web thanks to the glass touchscreen. Mouse pad is very responsive. I cant find anything to complain about. Obviously not the best on the market, but it delivers more than you'd expect at this price!

went with the solid state hard drive for the faster start up speed and am not disappointed. should i need more storage i can always resort to flash drives or outboard storage unit. somewhat disappointed in screen resolution, but i suppose that is the trade-off for a touch screen. overall this is a nice laptop for the money and suits my purposes very well.

After having my home burglarized, I was in desperate need of a new laptop. I did research because my household uses the laptop rigorously. I waited for the Black Friday sale. This saved me almost $200. The laptop is awesome. We are not used to the touchscreen, but it's a great addition to the features. This laptop is smaller than my stolen one, so it's lighter and easier to take to night classes. Overall, this laptop is meeting my expectations. I do notice it's sensitive. So, resting my wrist sometimes moves the cursor unknowingly.

I've had my laptop since November 2018 and I'm very happy with the outcome. I wasn't going to buy another Dell but I decided to go ahead because of the price and SSD with touch screen etc. I'm very satisfied with everything but the battery. It is no longer keeping a charge for very long. I always charged it, unplugged and when battery was about drained, I'd plug it back it. It's not holding a charge near as long and know I'll be having to keep it plugged in all the time pretty soon. Worth the money!

Went in to get a New Laptop, was actually looking at a different one and the guy came over and asked what I needed in a Laptop. We talked for a while and he said..... "We have these here that actually are more power than what you are looking at".... and they were on sale for a Pre Black Friday Sale.... 200 bucks off.... WOW... so after looking it over and a few more questions, I went for it..... I have to say.... This has far exceeded my expectations... VERY FAST... and with the new Intel Core i5 processor, it pops stuff....... the screen is crystal clear and has a very sharp picture..... all in all.... it is a great Lap top for the money. It was such a good deal that I went back on the Actual Black Friday and bought another one for out in my Shop to look up parts and things right at the bench....... VERY HAPPY. Thanks Best Buy Guy for steering me in the right direction...... I Couldn't be happier....

I bought this on Black Friday to replace a desktop bought in 2012 (which still works fine except it freezes up downloading the latest Windows 10 updates, so I finally gave up trying). I still prefer a desktop, but I wanted portability this time around. I am very pleased and surprised with this laptop! It is so much faster than my home and work desktops, and I really like having a touch screen. I also got a wireless mouse to go with it, and that has helped me a lot with getting used to using a laptop.

Best laptop in the market at this price. Core i5 and 256 GB SSD make this laptop a standard one. I wish it had a better battery life. At the new condition, it runs about 4.5 hours which is not bad either. Overall, after a week of purchase, I would say I am satisfied with the product.

I read many reviews that people didn't like how difficult it is to activate Windows 10. granted, we're no longer in the "put CD/DVD in tray and click setup" days, but even for seasoned folks, it shouldn't be that hard (a knock on MS). but back to the computer, I really tried to like this. it's modern enough that the screen is touch pad and good enough because it's a Dell. However, the more you use it, it's not as rewarding. The SSD is a major plus but why even consider for a computer of this magnitude? it's like putting a Porsche engine in a Ford Explorer. for most that just use their computer for internet, email, and some Word and Excel, this is fine. but for those trying to push the limits like playing games, it's really not designed to handle it. The immense large screen is a plus but at the cost of more weight to carry.

      dcfusion,

We're sorry that the performance on your new computer is not what you were hoping for. We'd recommend that you run the Windows Performance Troubleshooter to see if your computer can perform any faster:

      1. Close all open windows.
      2. Press the Windows logo key + X key on the keyboard.
      3. Click Control Panel.
      4. Click System and Security.
      5. Under Security and Maintenance, select Troubleshoot common problems.
      6. Under System and Security, click Run maintenance tasks.
      7. Follow the on-screen instructions and prompts to complete the process.
      8. Restart the PC.

It's not sexy, but it's also not expensive. It's TFT rather than IPS, so angles are a minor challenge. However, I've grown to really really enjoy the screen's non-reflective saturated colors. But remember, that TFT is also a touch screen, and with 8 gigs of ram and a 256 solid-state drive thrown in the unit, I believe it's well worth the $yes it's seems to be a quality buildwith a really saturated color pallett
