    Overall Great Performance

I went into Best Buy about 2 months ago, knowing that I needed a new Laptop, and having a few basic features I wanted, but not sure which brand to get. With the help of a great Floor Clerk, I was able to get this beauty, and haven't regretted it yet! It starts up fast, works smooth, and is easy to navigate. When I first turned it on, the speakers didn't really work, but then I, "tried turning it off and on again" and SHAZAAM! It hasn't had an issue since. Battery life is pretty good, and recharges SO QUICKLY. Literally I can have half a battery of power, plug it in, and it's fully charged in not even 15min. The touch screen has had a few issues where it didn't always register, but nothing big or really a hassle. Overall I love it!

I bought this computer 1.5 months ago for my startup business and some personal use. Most of my use involves Office, web browsing, email, photo editor, Adobe Illustrator. I don't tend to store a lot of huge files on the computer - mostly on external drives. I use it as a laptop 75% of the time and tablet 25%. Pros: The size is perfect for frequent travel and mobility. It's very light and easily converts to a tablet when needed. Speed and overall function are good/average for my noted uses. Cons: The battery life leaves a lot to be desired. Fully charged I might get 4 hours out of it - with some of that being idle time. The fan is quite loud and seems to be on all the time. I noticed the first time I turned it on that the base gets very hot, very quickly. The screen glitches with a line down the center sometimes when scrolling. And just today, the speakers can't be detected. Too many bugs for such a new, gently used machine.

      Hello krm218,

We're sorry to hear that your battery life on your new computer is not as good as you'd like it to be. We'd recommend the following tips to help extend the life of your battery:

      Change the Power Plan:

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

If your fan noise continues to be loud we'd recommend updating the BIOS on your computer: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz.

Lastly, if you'd like your computer to operate at a cooler temperature, try the following: Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

I bought this laptop as I started a doctoral program last summer. I love the quality of the graphics, the lightweight of the laptop, and the 2-in-1 functionality. It's great for the daily school tasks (email, writing papers, online research, typing notes, and completing online assignments) and the fun stuff (watching movies, surfing the web, social media), and the tablet mode is also great for taking notes and reading e-textbooks. I added a screen protector that made the digital pen functionality even better - and it feels more like paper. My only complaints are the battery doesn't last as long as I would like and the fan is a little loud... but neither is too terrible. Overall, it's an excellent laptop that fits my needs for school and personal use, and for a great price.

I just Purchased the Inspiron 7386 Model for my 18 Year Old daughter for when she starts college, since she will be taking Graphics design, I decided to go with this laptop its fast and snappy as to performance, but My only complaint is the 4k screen, my issue is when I power cycle the computer and when the screen is black it has mayor light Leakage on all corners this is a big issue, has anyone else notice this issue? And what was done to correct it. I would Have gave it a 5 Star but Gave it 3 due to Screen Issues. DELL KNOWS IT HAS PROBLEMS.

Good little laptop - Now the Cons

This laptop had a lot going for it. Small, lightweight, great build quality, great screen, nice keyboard, great specs. However, the cons were enough to warrant a return for me. The fan was constantly running and got quite loud at times. When i first unboxed the laptop and booted up windows for the first time, the fan started blaring not one minute into the process. The other big con is the battery life. This laptop drains battery so quickly that its almost unusable as a portable machine. I will say that if my intention was to keep this docked 24/7, it would probably be worth holding onto. This all comes down to personal preference. If you want to sacrifice battery life for an amazing 4k screen, go for it. I unfortunately could not and ended up returning this device.

This laptop is capable of soooo much! I loved watching videos in 4K and loading them almost instantly! Way better than my 6 year old Lenovo. However, I found the fans did get loud at some points, but not over the top since it is an ultra book. The downfall was with the battery. I was getting about 2-3 hours off a charge. Had to exchange for a different laptop because of that. But definitely set an expectation for what I wanted in a laptop! 2-1, backlit keyboard, windows pen, 16gb ram, touch screen, precision track pad.

Overall it is a Dell. The screen is clear and crisp and the thing is fast, blazing fast. I really liked the fingerprint sensor in the power button and it works well unless you have anything, I mean anything at all, on your finger. The battery life is great as long as you stay in power saving mode about 6-7 hours continual run time for office based tasks, but take that off and it goes dead in about 45 minutes. At full throttle the thing gets hot and the fans kick in quickly but stay pretty quiet. Overall a good buy for something with this much power. On a note: I had to play with the charging settings in the BIOS right out of the box because it continually said the battery was low. It would not charge up because it was trying to do smart charging, which I think is a bit of a useless feature because it was not charging the battery all the way.

    Hits the Mark

I wanted a replacement laptop that could process my RAW photos quickly from various inputs, great graphics, fast processor, and lightweight. This laptop hit the mark at just under $1K. I setup a test scenario where each laptop I chose had to import (direct connect using USB-C and Micro SD) and process 27 RAW files. The test included a Lenovo 15.6 Yoga with 2GB dedicated graphics card and 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Apple Mac Air with 8GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, and finally this Dell. The Dell bested them all. I will put it to the ultimate test when I head to Alaska soon. The only downside is the small 13.3 display when developing my photos in Lightroom and Photoshop Elements. I will have to do more zooming than when using my 27” AIO at home. It may be necessary to tweak the Properties of certain applications to handle the 4K resolution. Google it to find the solution.

Very good little laptop. At first it seemed to be quirky but with Dell updates it became a clean running machine. Like the touch screen and the keyboard. The only drawback is its battery does not last too long. It is small so perhaps short battery life is to be expected. Other than no other issues

Love this laptop the only thing is the battery life does not last too long so make sure you have your charger with you if you plan on taking it to work or to a coffee shop. The price is amazing and if you’re not looking for clout And get a MacBook this does the same thing and more.

Works great for a Windows laptop

I bought this laptop because I wanted the closest thing I could get to a Macbook air for under $1200. I am bilingual in Mac and Windows and don't have any major preference when it comes to getting the job done. The 4K screen with the i7 and 16GB RAM were the features that attracted me to this model. I hadn't used a Windows tablet, so I didn't know what to expect from the touch screen and stylus. The laptop works as well as can be expected. I have even used it for editing fairly complex projects with Adobe Premiere. My only complaint is that touchscreen is an afterthought with Windows. Windows 10 is not iOS or Android. It's clunky. The 4K screen is beautiful, but Windows 10 and many Windows programs don't scale fonts for the higher resolution. In other words, the problems I've had are all complaints about Windows. If the high resolution or touchscreen productivity is important, spend the money on an iPad or a Macbook. The touchscreen is nice to have, but most software developers haven't been written for touch and it gets very clunky. This machine definitely doesn't work as a tablet replacement.

Dude I got a dell. I have had a couple of Lenovo computers recently that have done the job however the lack of memory made me want to upgrade a year or two sooner. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick this machine is and how it handles itself with the amount of windows that I have open. I’ve had it for a month or so now but I have no regrets . Although it does not fold all the way down like my yoga pro did it is pretty versatile. It would be nice to have a eye scan feature but the fingerprint is sufficient. All in all it’s a great computer for an i7 and the amount of memory it has.

Some ten years ago I purchased a tablet to record photographs taken in and around the world. Obviously, it's not quite up to snuff now. So a new computer, lighter in weight and fast was/is in order. The Dell meets all of my requirements. No regrets and, given severe weight limitations on domestic flights within Tanzania, it might well become my computer of choice back home in the future..
