Computer has met my expectations. Long battery life, light weight, fast, and touch screen is nice to go back and forth in using from the mouse pad. sometimes the touch screen does not scroll as fast I would like and it stalls for a couple of seconds. Other than that, it is meeting my expectations.

So much potential...with several kinks

I really wanted to give this computer a great review b/c of it's relatively low price for high-end specs. Unfortunately, I have had to "fix" several issues already with drivers, dell support, Microsoft support, etc. Wi-fi issues are a problem, preventing me from connecting to several open networks. The new drivers have helped but I still had a home router that it could not connect to, despite all my other devices connecting. Dell blames Microsoft. Microsoft blames Dell. They both blame the router or the internet provider and round and round they make you go. Ultimately, Dell wanted to charge me for a software support program, FOR MY BRAND NEW COMPUTER! I ultimately exchanged it for the same computer and turns out, it was not a "lemon" but is in fact a problem with the computer. After spending so much time troubleshooting and having to have a working computer for a quick job, I ultimately just returned the router, and used another one that it could connect to. But then on the work trip found that the computer could not connect to the worksite router or the hotel router without an updated driver (again). Not only did it have connectivity issues but it would disable the wireless adapter completely, requiring multiple restarts for it to show up again with available networks. Dell support was worthless. You have to say everything twice so that a non-English speaker can write down your questions and then bring it to a "supervisor" who has the knowledge to answer the question. They ultimately had me reset my entire computer 2 times, clearing all of my set-up data and requiring me to re-customize the set up options and programs, reinstall of software etc. A huge waste of time.
It also loses the bluetooth signal frequently, so I have to reconnect my mouse every time it sits idle for more than ~5 minutes. You are supposed to be able to change the power settings to prevent the disconnect, but the change doesn't help, as though the change is not accepted.
Cortana (microsoft version of siri) has big flaws- it must not speak English as a first language either b/c it has about 50% accuracy in a quite room with clear dictation and if there is any background noise like music or t.v...don't even waste your time. Also, it is supposed to make calendar reminders for you but, since it mutilates your words you end up with reminders that are not correct and then the next big flaw is apparent... not being able to delete a reminder. After scouring the internet, others had the same frustration and I found a fix, but the fact that it is not a simple, intuitive option is mind boggling. Deleting a reminder isn't a needed function?!
The mail program is supposed to allow all of your email to come to one consolidated account but it is well behind the times for functionality so I've stayed with gmail for this functionality.
Overall, the functions are great and if Dell can work through the kinks of the Microsoft 10/Dell Inspiron combo...then it's a great deal. But right now, I've been very frustrated with the release of a product that wasn't ready for sale. And to make things worse, they want to charge me to troubleshoot the problems they willing sent to market. Search the support pages and you'll see that they conveniently don't respond to any of the Windows 10 related issues. Instead they reply as though you're dealing with Windows 8 or older versions and of all the attempts to emphasize this is a windows 10 problem, then the support goes silent. Probably waiting for customers like me to fund their troubleshooting efforts. The best part is when their tech support asks you to plug in the ethernet cable so that you can troubleshoot the wifi problems. HELLO! KNOW YOUR PRODUCT! YOU DON'T HAVE AN ETHERNET PORT ON THIS COMPUTER. So frustrating. I ended several phone calls realizing that I was more qualified to fix the problem than the Dell Support "specialists" and I am far from an expert.
The computer is sleek, light, and pretty quick and powerful but one design complaint is that there is no way to know if the computer is in sleep mode or completely shut down. So you swipe the keyboard...nothing. Hit a key....nothing. Hit the power...oops, it was actually on and just didn't sense the keypad touch. Now you've accidentally shut it down and need to wait for the reboot. The power button is also located right where you grab the computer when inserting a flash drive so that the computer doesn't slide on the desk. So, I've accidentally shut the computer down several times while trying to put a flash drive in the opposite side. Probably not the best location for the power button.
I would recommend this product only to somebody with the time for some troubleshooting and willing to put up with some headache to save the couple hundred dollars you'll pay for the same specs in a different brand. And, to be fair, the other systems may be facing the same issues with the Windows 10 integration... proceed cautiously.

Purchased this as a replacement laptop as both of mine crashed. I am loving the 2-in-1 feature (and I do not currently own a tablet). The price is fantastic considering it has an SSD and it is SUPER quiet and FAST! Also, there isn't a lot of junk pre-loaded on the machine which is great. I'm considering getting a 2nd one (128 SSD) for my kitchen.

I've had this laptop for a month now. It works great so far. Has a decent battery life. The touch screen is accurate. It's very light weight. And its faster than I thought it would be. I'm still not crazy about windows 10, but hopefully I'll get used to it.

My college son needed a smaller, lighter laptop than his old 15.6" dinosaur. This 13.3" at 3.6lbs is about half the weight. Also, he was only getting only getting 2-3hrs of battery life. This one lasts all day (about 8 hours). And with the 6th gen i7 cpu ,8GB ram, and Windows 10 it is VERY FAST. It's also a 2in1 so he can detach and use it tablet style.

I needed a light weight laptop with somewhat high performance for a doctor in my office with the ability of touch screen. This laptop exceeded my expectations in terms of slimness and battery life and overall performance. Keyboard is nice and buttons are well placed. Touch pad is responsive, and the screen is high def. Power adapter is small due to the integrated graphics card which was a plus in this case. this laptop does NOT have an Ethernet jack, i bought one online for less than $10 to overcome possible wifi network hiccups.

Bought this for my son going away to college. We debated over a 13" or a 15" laptop and decided on this one because of portability. The SSD helps with worries about shock on a HD if moved a lot. The keys were also spaced to a near normal size keyboard which makes typing easy. The memory and processor in the unit was worth the price. We found a sale and grabbed it.
It is a highly portable and powerful system. The versatility as a 2 in 1 is great for him.
The only issue we had was in the initial setup. There was a BIOS update that was needed. When connected to a 5 Ghz wifi the laptop could not keep the connection. In fact, the wireless card completely disappeared. Connect to a 2.4Ghz wifi first and do all of the Dell updates first and the do the Microsoft updates. There are a lot to do and it will take 2-3 hours to complete. After all the updates were done the system runs flawlessly!

I needed to replace my old laptop which I've had for 5 years. This one has a very nice touch, soft layer on top and the keyboard lights up and has good spacing.
Overall, the processing speed is very fast and the screen has nice resolution. Although there are strange breaks, but I haven't find it disruptive thus far. I only intend to use the laptop for web surfing, movies, basic word and excel - nothing fancy. So far, the product delivered. I hope this laptop will last a good 4-5 years.

Screen is decent sized for all day use yet if you cart it home it's still usable as a work connection or even to watch TV or a
movie if you have a relationship with a cable or network provider. I have an inexpensive external DVD player so that covers a lot of needs even on business trips. I also recommend an optical wireless mouse. Makes a lot of things more simple. This machine has more than adequate memory & the solid state drive is a miracle to anyone who is a long term laptop user. The Dell name tells you that you have good quality & good support especially if you travel with a machine like this and that solid state drive is a real relief off your shoulders. My Only Adverse comment would be that the machine is no lightweight.
Hope that you can obtain one. It is a real joy to carry & use !

This is a great computer. It really makes a big difference having a solid state drive in regards to battery life and start up time. The computer is fast, small, compact, and lightweight for traveling which is why I bought it. My only complaint is that the screen is not as HD as others on the market. Other then that I would recommend this Dell to anyone! I also really like being able to switch it into tablet mode whenever needed.

i needed a windows based machine for work and had found this as an open box for a great price. i wanted something quick, portable, and something I didnt have to worry about in terms of performance. this machine has it all. It is extremly light weight and is very quick being it has an i7, ssd, and 8gb of ram. I didnt really need a touch screen, but i do find myself using it in the tablet mode more and more. The only issue I have is that the graphics unexpectedly quits randomly and restarts. It appears to be a driver issue so i am waiting on an update.

This is an awesome laptop. Backlight is good, it is fast, and very light. The problem for me is Windows 10. They have made it so hard to get it setup the way I want it rather what they are determined to make you use like The Microsoft account and Bing and Edge. It is hard to get all the privacy invasion settings turned off.

Both my boyfriend and I purchased this laptop for our home business. We both had to apply a work around to get the wireless driver to work and both have had issues with our HP printer working correctly with the laptop (maybe HP problem?). Other than that, at the risk of jinxing myself, the computer is fast and has no issues.

I've used this laptop daily since I got it and have yet to be disappointed. The battery is great, the sleek, low profile helps it fit in my bag easily and it's very lightweight. Besides looking and feeling great, the power inside is amazing. While it's used for work the most, I also do photo editing and even play some games on Steam and don't have a problem with performance. For the cost, I'd definitely buy this again - totally worth it.

I bought this for my parents to replace their old desktop. So far they love it. Windows 10 runs smooth and there have been no wifi issues like some reviews I read on Bust Buy/Amazon. Not only complaint is the small storage size, but this laptop is way faster than similar models I checked out with 1 TB HDD. I would definitely buy again.

If you want to read my particular expectations out of a laptop, that's the latter half of this review, but I saw it best to start with a review of the product itself. With an i7, 8gb of RAM, and a 256GB SSD, this laptop has all the same things as the higher end XPS models and other major Ultrabooks. The price is hard to believe, considering the quality. The Special Edition is made entirely out of aluminum. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 is equivalent to the GeForce 820M according to Notebookcheck.net. The SSD is SATA III, but still fast enough for me to see the miles of difference between that and a HDD. Initially, I did have to go grab the latest graphics driver (as of May 15 2016) to keep the GUI from "crashing" every now and then. There are also magnets that help the lid stay closed. They are more of a pain than helpful, but I figured out the easiest way to get the laptop open in spite of them. I wish it had USB-C. But tha't reaching. The power and volume buttons are along the front right side of the laptop; this helps for when it is in tablet mode, and some do not like it, but I got used to it quickly. Overall, I'm very happy with what I have.
I previously had a Lenovo Y410p (2014 Gen) with a 4th gen i7. Bought it for the dedicated graphics card and CPU to handle SolidWorks and Adobe Creative Suite. After starting grad school and losing the copy of SW I had, there was no longer the need for such a serious PC according to the system req. of most of the software I was using.
So I looked into an Ultrabook, hoping that I could start using my laptop again outside the house. I no longer needed the dedicated graphics, and heard that integrated graphics had caught up with some of the older model GPU's, so I could appreciate the trade off. I had been depending on my Surface 3 (4gb, 128gb) which was really just supposed to be my PC companion in a pinch. Dell has really been on the ball in the last couple years. Challenging users to trust their QA and packages, most of their models can be spec'd out as much as you're willing to pay for, marginally separated by their design features. XPS is as light as it'll get, but only 1lb lighter than the Inspiron. Accepting that extra pound and skipping the infinity edge display saves me about $400 immediately.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. The week that I came across this, BBY was having a sale, and the i7 was the same cost the old price for the i5. And then I found mine: an Open-Box Signature Edition for a grand total of $599 after receiving the same price reduction as the new ones. Sold.
