I loved this laptop and the convenience of signing documents on the touchscreen. The reason for my low rating is because within nine months my screen was completely detached from my keyboard. Supposedly this is common with computers that completely fold back. Aside from that this was a great computer

Since I am retiring later this year, I was looking for a nice home laptop for email, internet and some light photography work. I find that the Dell Inspiron is a very capable laptop. The key board layout with the backlit keys fits me just fine. The touch screen is an added bonus that is spot on. Boot up time is less than 15 seconds and shut down time is about 5 seconds. The small footprint (a little over 3 lbs) of the 2 in 1 (screen flips to be tablet like) is very well constructed not a cheap feel you get on some lesser brands. The screen lid takes some effort to open and close. It does not need readjusted after some aggressive typing or moving it around while walking from the desk to the porch, just set it and forget it. The touch pad is also spot on. After using the laptop for constantly for a week. I have yet to find an issue with it. The 16:10 touch screen display is bright and precise with a 1920 X 1200 resolution. The screen has a nice web camera (720 @30 fps HD) built in with a privacy filter to make sure you don’t have an embarrassing moment during a zoom meeting when you think your camera is off! The narrow boarder of the screen makes the 14-inch monitor (with pen support) seem that much bigger. The AMD Ryzen 5 5625 processor with 6 cores for 4.3Ghz speed and 8gb of ram (wish it was 16) handled everything I through at it including some photo editing. The 256gb SSD drive is enough to store important files and is lightning fast. Should you need more there is a card reader on the side for unlimited storage possibilities. There is 1 USB 3.1 Type A, and 2 USB C 3.2 with Power delivery and Display port slots, and an extra HDMI for a video out for projectors or and extra monitor or cast to a bigger monitor in a desk setting. The AMD Radeon graphics card is a perfect match, with spot on resolution in any light setting, brightness is easily adjusted via the keyboard. Watching streaming movies is a treat with dell cinema app with great resolution and sound (Realtek ALC 3204 5-Watt total speakers) For the standard user a copy of MacAfee anti-virus is installed and free a 30-day trial as well as O365 suite. Personally, I like other software that’s less intrusive so that along with a few other previously installed software was removed when I tweaked it to my liking. One thing I like to do with new laptops is to see how well I can restore the PC should something out of the ordinary happen. So, after initial setting it up, I restored it back to OBE (Out of box experience). I was satisfied with the time it took to refresh it. Within 30 minutes I was back up and running. As of 5/22 the update level of the machine is current. I ran the updates, and it only took about 15 minutes to install them all and be up to date. When compared to other laptops in this range, The performance compares, right down the middle, I ran the software PC Mark, You can see that the Laptop scored a total of 4846 (better than 45%), where a top high end PC scored 7163. Items tested were App startup, Video conferencing, web browsing, spreadsheet, writing, Photo editing, Rendering and video editing scores. I did notice that while this software was putting the laptop through its paces, the fan did not kick on at all, nor did the laptop get hot. I was happy with the results as I'm sure you will be too. I think this laptop would be great from students to small offices or a general user. I would recommend this to family and friends.

Good computer when the Wi-Fi doesn't randomly disconnect. The mediatek wifi 6 mt7921 wireless LAN card wasn't able to start randomly a day after my return period. After struggling with it for days, it started working. Contacted Dell about the spontaneous Wi-Fi hardware problem to be told they couldn't find an issue. Wi-Fi will randomly cut out and sometimes the Wi-Fi tab completely disappears and doesn't give me an option to turn it on. I rely on this computer for school and never knowing if it's going to work when I sit down has been draining. The issues started about 3 weeks after I got the computer and Dell wants $99 to remote fix it which isn't possible because it can't connect to internet. I can not stress enough how much you want to avoid this computer. Words can not describe how beyond disappointed I am in this Dell product and their lack of a free solution for my brand new laptop that is my lifeline in school. I've had the computer for a month with these issues and I feel exploited.

      Hi CollegeStudent,

We appreciate you for taking the time to leave us your review. We apologize for the Wi-Fi connection issues you are experiencing with your Dell Inspiron 7425 2-in-1 laptop. Your feedback about discrepancies in our products helps us improve with future developments. Below I have provided troubleshooting instructions with the full article that can help resolve this issue:

      1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
      2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
      3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router, and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
      4. Power ON the Modem, and wait for it to boot fully.
      5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router, and wait for it to boot fully.
      6. Power ON the Dell system.
      7. Open Network and Sharing Center
      8. In the left-side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
      9. Right-click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
      10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode.
      11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable it. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
      12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
      13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net.

    A Great New Dell 2in1

This has turned out to be a very nice mid-range laptop with a small 14in size but also packs enough power for all my everyday tasks. Again, the 14in size is a plus for 2in1’s to be really portable. The weight however is a bit on the bigger side but that is offset by what I see as the quality of the hinges. It feels solid to me and not something that I feel like I need to be overly careful with. Performance wise, I have not had issues. I could easily multi-task with several of the MS Office suite of apps and the touch screen is responsive in a good way. Keyboard is fine for me, it’s back-lit, responsive, not quiet but also not as loud as my other work MacBook. The processor is the Ryzen 5 from AMD. I found it absolutely fine and powerful enough for all my tasks. This is not a gaming machine as others have said, it only has 8GB of RAM but it does have a 512 SSD that is snappy responsive. Again, if you’re looking for a gaming laptop, you’re going to need more. There is a built in SD card reader which is nice and it still has a headphone jack for those who would prefer that. It does have Bluetooth and paired perfectly with my Skullcandy buds. It does have the standard USB on the right ( same side as SD reader and headset jack), but the USB-C ports are on the left, and as someone mentioned they are more towards the middle which makes cord management a bit challenging. Another neat feature is the built in webcam cover which slides over. It’s nice that you don’t have to add your own. Battery life has been really good, I haven’t measured it exactly but I have been able to get a full day’s worth of work on it. I also noticed that after fully charging, unplugging and letting it sit for 3 days while I was out of town, I came back and it still had 90%. It didn’t drain much while unused. Overall, this is a solidly built laptop and a solid performer. I did notice in the specs that it said that there were two memory slots and only one memory stick included? Wonder if I could throw another 8GB in it? I will do some research. I would recommend this, it’s going to become my traveling laptop.

This laptop is great since you can upgrade the RAM, SSD, and uses standard philips head screws. Unlike an HP Envy, it doesn't use non-standard star shaped screws nor does it require ripping off the rubber feet to disassemble. The AMD Ryzen 5625u is great, keyboard is great but requires a bit more activation force than their cheaper/older Dells. The touchpad is spacious, but you end up accidentally pressing it so you are at the mercy of palm rejection on whether accidental keypresses come through. Build quality is decent, with most things being metal except for the plastic bottom. The keyboard deck flexes a bit, and can cause accidental touchpad clicks. This I consider to be a defect, and it's no surprise that the one of the featured support articles for this model explains how to troubleshoot the touchpad (don't be fooled! It's a hardware issue, not a software issue so troubleshooting won't work). Now for the most frustrating part of my experience: the pen. Using the Wacom Bamboo Gen 2, the screen skips like 60% of the strokes and is utterly unusable. Upon contacting Dell support, they refuse to do anything to fix this claiming the Wacom Bamboo Gen 2 is not supported when in fact this model does support Wacom AES2.0 pens. Furthermore, it seems clear Dell support does not want to RMA this device and does not even offer advice anything that a competent tech will ask you to check such as palm rejection settings, Wacom AES2.0 or MPP mode, etc. Instead they ask you to contact Best Buy or Wacom which is completely useless advice, since (A) this is not a warranty problem not a Best Buy problem and (B) the pen works on other laptops--I might as well return and not buy a Dell again! The pen has been tested to work on other models so the laptop itself must have a manufacturer defect!!! They have now closed my case since I took one too many days to reset my laptop as a "troubleshooting" step which I've already told them that it won't work since it's a hardware issue, and the same issue occurs in linux so resetting does absolutely nothing!!

So I was in the market for a new laptop after my Asus 14” got damaged. I was resistant to buying dell after some bad experiences in the past, but this laptop was hard to beat for a 2 in 1 with a good screen, solid power and reasonable price. This laptop feels a lot more expensive than the base model would suggest. There’s plastic, but also a lot of metal and very solid feeing hinges. On top of that, even the Ryzen 5 gives many laptops in the bracket a run for their money. You can play light games on this laptop, and it still has great battery life. Fan noise is not exactly quiet, but it isn’t “whiney”, more like a thrust sound than a high-pitched squeal. The screen offers solid clarity, and pretty good brightness. It’s not good enough for direct sunlight, but it’s totally fine for most indoor environments. The touchscreen is also responsive, and it supports a (sold separately) stylus from Dell. Another plus is the 16:10 display, which offers more vertical space, ideal for a laptop. Aside from that, the keyboard and trackpad are solid feeling with good feedback. The speakers are quite impressive for a laptop. They aren’t going to replace your Bluetooth speaker, but they get plenty loud enough to hear clearly in just about any environment. Overall I can’t think of much negative to say. Another usb A port would be a big plus, but it’s hard to find more than one on a laptop these days. A huge plus for me is easily upgradable ram, Wi-Fi card and ssd. I’m shocked dell didn’t go all anti-consumer with this laptop, especially for a 2 in 1. If you want a new laptop, find a reason NOT to buy this.

Very easy to setup and get started with this laptop. Few qualities that makes it stand up are: -Aluminum body -Great screen (excellent color reproduction) -Touch is very responsive -Backlit keyboard -Sound (amazing sound, either you listen music or watch a video I guarantee you will be amazed) That being mentioned i’ll move on with my experience with this laptop. Straight out the box i found it to bee very well built and having sleek design. It’s my first AMD (Ryzen 5) powered device in a long time and i have to say i am impressed with the performance. Being a convertible laptop/tablet device screen is very important and this one here (14” with 16:10 ratio FHD+) knows how to deliver, it’s very bright and colorful with a glossy and nice look that i found to be resistant to fingerprints. The camera in this laptop does and excellent job and i love about it that has a Privacy shutter (peace of mind when not in use) Charges pretty fast and the battery last very well. Very easy to carry around and i almost forgot it’s got a fingerprint option to unlock it. I found that useful as well. Trackpad is very precise and well integrated at the bottom of you keyboard. So for Price/quality I really recommend this 2in1 laptop. It’s a very powerful and stylish device that won’t disappoint!

I recently purchased the Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 14” laptop in Pebble Green, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. This laptop combines style, performance, and functionality seamlessly. First of all, the design is stunning. The Pebble Green color not only stands out in a sea of traditional laptops but also exudes a sense of sophistication. The build quality is top-notch, giving it a premium feel. Performance-wise, the AMD Ryzen 5 processor paired with 8GB of memory ensures smooth multitasking and snappy performance. Whether I’m browsing the web, working on documents, or even light gaming, it handles everything effortlessly. The 512GB SSD is speedy, offering ample storage and fast data access. One of the standout features is the 2-in-1 functionality. The touch screen is responsive, and the hinge allows for easy transition between laptop and tablet modes. This versatility is a game-changer for both work and leisure. The 14” FHD+ display is vibrant and crisp, making it a pleasure to watch videos or work on creative projects. The touch functionality adds an extra layer of convenience, especially when using it in tablet mode. Battery life is respectable, lasting me through a typical workday without needing to constantly search for a charger. The keyboard is comfortable for extended typing sessions, and the trackpad is precise. Overall, the Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 14” laptop in Pebble Green is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a stylish, powerful, and versatile laptop. It’s exceeded my expectations in every way, and I highly recommend it.
