I bought this to replace an older desktop that was showing signs of age and some hard drive instability. Setup was easy, access to the inside is easy to put in second hard drive (old hard drive from other computer to facilitate file transfer). Everything was going very well.
The boot up time is a little slower that I expected from a brand new computer, but that is not a big deal. It runs smoothly once it boots up. It is used mostly for bookkeeping, MS Office, and email, though I do some occasional video editing. As I was setting up the computer and copying files, everything was nice and quiet. I almost didn't even hear the fan. However, I was doing some video processing this afternoon and the fan kicked into high gear (it is still going strong now). It is very noisy, especially in the small space where the box is sitting. Other than the noise of the fans, it seems to be a very nice system.

Mike - We're sorry to hear that the fan noise on your new Dell Desktop is so loud and distracting. Here are a few tips we'd recommend: A: Cleaning the Vents 1. Check the vents on the computer to see if they are covered with dust and not allowing heat and air to pass through. 2. Turn off the system. 3. Remove all power sources: Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery, or unplug the desktop power Cord. 4. Use a compressed air can to blow the dust out of the vents. Be sure to hold the can at an upright angle (near 90 degrees), and hold it 15-20 centimeters (6-8 inches) away from the vent. B: Update the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer.
Visit Dell Drivers and Downloads website and input your Service Tag to get updates for your computer. C: Diagnostics Check: You may also perform Full System Diagnostics or Dell Quicktest on your computer. You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz. - Bryan

Excellent Performance, Terrible Reliability

I do not recommend purchasing this particular machine, I'm not sure if the high level version of this one is any better, but I've already swapped mine out for the exact same model just in case the first one I purchased was faulty. Unfortunately, for some reason these machines are extremely buggy. Mine is prone to spontaneously freezing at random periods of low to moderate use. The USB ports also have an issue with the wireless adapters for mouse/keyboard that causes it to stop functioning completely, which requires me to remove them from the port and re-insert them every time. There is no reliability or consistency in how this machine runs, and as a result everything I work on is continuously backed up to Google Drive, One Drive, and an 8 TB external HD (Overkill, right? Still worth it to me.)
Aside from the overwhelming bad issues, the speed and performance is actually really amazing. Bearing in mind that I use mine for work, programming, writing, etc... Now, why did I decide to keep it? Well, the price point was really great at the time and I have developed my own work arounds that prevent me from losing any data in the event of a failure. I also invested in a quality SSD, which mitigates the number and frequency of crashes and freezing I experience. I love Dell, but I will probably upgrade to a different model at some point.

OMG, so happy I picked this little gem up. I was really worried about getting a low end CPU and GPU, but AMD has always surprised me. This is no exception! Had a little issue with the fan noise. When it’s cranked up, it’s definitly very loud, but I found that it seems to be more of a software issue than it actually needing to run that high. I restarted the computer and then gamed it up with no issues. Whisper quite while playing Witcher 3. Got the setting on high with all the post processing effects turned up. At 1080p we’re just over 30-35 FPS consistently. It’s Great! Sure it’s not 4K at 60, but it cost a lot more than $500 bucks to do that!

Picked this computer up considering I could not build a PC with anything near what's included for the price.
Got it home and first thing I did was add a 120gb ssd and install Windows 10 to it and set as boot drive. Then cleared the 1tb drive. I wanted it to be as OEM as possible. Dell has always made a good computer. But now it's even better. SSD upgrade and no bloat ware installed. Plays some basic games and outs to 3 monitors just fine.
Worth the price I paid! And the Geeksquad warranty is always a plus over building one piece by piece.

I've had this PC for about 2 months now, and so far, it's still usable. There are only two things that make me nervous: the HDD and the GPU.
I can hear the HDD very clearly, and I don't think I'm supposed to. But I haven't had any performance issues with it. No errors, and it hovers around 3-15 ms response time on idle. I've also been playing games on it, such as CODMWRemastered and World of Warships, with no issues.
The GPU has a habit of becoming extremely hot to the touch, but I haven't been able to find any good software to measure its temperature, so all I can do is hope it's not going to fry. The main reason I'm concerned about the GPU is that sometimes when I turn the computer on, the Dell emblem appears, and Windows continues the boot process, but the PC stops sending a signal to my monitor. I don't think the monitor is the issue. But the only thing I've found that works is unplugging the cable connected to the PC and plugging it in again, and that seems to work temporarily. And then I don't have any problems for a couple of days. I'm using the HDMI output which is adapted to VGA.
CODMWRemastered can be choppy sometimes on this PC. Although this GPU has GDDR5 memory, it only has 2 GB, which is not enough for most newer games. I wish the PC came with the 4 GB version. But World of Warships works great. Fortnite also works very well on this PC. I play it with 2nd highest settings.
One thing to be aware of is that the PSU is only 460W, so if you want to upgrade the GPU, you're probably going to have to replace that, too.
One other problem that I've been experiencing is random freezing. It's getting really annoying. The thing is that I'm not sure if it's due to the PC or Windows 10, but I'm guessing Windows 10 is behind the freezing, if not also the random absence of a signal when I turn it on, as the Dell emblem appears, so it's probably not the hardware.
Outside of that, it's a great computer for just about anything. And if you want to run a VM on it, that'll work great, too. And for the price, I can't really complain.

The pc is good for email and internet surfing. I upgraded mine with a SSD and 4 more gigs of RAM. Wished they were sold in this setup, but the upgrades are easy to do. It would then be a good pc for gaming.

I have had this computer for around 2 years at this point and its ok. The computer may be slowly doing worst over time due to the performance not great for most games. For example, one of my favorite games, Space Engineers proform laughably when playing base (no mods/vanilla) and worst with mods. The game is heavy but for a PC like this, it is not great.
The RX 560 is a default graphics card, so I would recommend upgrading it to a GTX 1060 or above for better gaming usage.
Besides gaming, this PC is average and does not really offer anything from any other computer. That is it on this part.
Going back to gaming, this computer is not meant for most games such as Just Cause 3, Fortnite, or other games such as Gmod since the performance when players could be not as great at most times.
In addition to that, since none at the time of April 15th, 2020 will be brand new, this computer is not a great option to get.
However, if you are just a casual gamer who works and game on the same computer, this might be the one for you. The price when I had got it was close to 400-800$ which is great since all parts are included and adding independent parts would be much cheaper and affordable in the long run.
Hence, not a great build and not entirely meant for gaming for competitive use. More of a casual gaming build for casual use. Upgrade the graphics cards and other parts in the long run. The build could have been better and more efficient if it was built better. Saves you money so that makes this build decent at best with default specs.

Read reviews before I purchased so that is why when my problems started I thought it was something I was doing wrong or an update was needed. Then about five days in my fan started sounding like a plane was going to land in my room. My screen started freezing and then eventually kept having to reboot 3 or 4 times a day. As of today I got a blue screen and it wouldn't even let me sign in. I purchased the computer February 6th and picked it up on the 8th. Took computer in on March 5th and did not even have the option to return this computer. Major purchase in my life and policy is that I only had 14 days to return. Called Dell and spoke to 4 different people on one call. They kept transferring me and telling me they were going to help and then would dump me on to the next person without even giving them any information and I had to tell the whole story over again and again. I was so upset over the whole experience. I am praying that Best Buy can fix it because with this major purchase I have no say in how this is going to be handled. I had 14 days and I blew it. It is all my fault. Oh and by the way since I purchased the computer three other people have gone out and left bad reviews in February having the same problem.

This machine has help up very well for over three years, I don't use it for intensive video editing or the like but it still has plenty of power to do what I need for most office and personal tasks. It is nice to be able to turn off the light on the inside of the case, though it does sometimes get overheated and run the exhaust fans rather loudly (but it rarely happens). Also, it has expansion slots so I use an SSD and Two HDDs which is awesome, I'm spoiled by that and will want that from now on in any future PC.

I bought 2 of these PCs for 2 of my kids. While a gaming computer, it was better price and better specs than other PCs. Also being a gamer computer you can upgrade and interchange unlike other computers.
One thing though, Best buy doesn't show them on the floor. I found them online and only in 2 of the closest 5 had them in stock.
The fan kicks into higher speed when kids play Roblox for a period of time but it's not an issue, just a little louder.

to start off, the wifi adapter is ludicrously slow, and it overheated quickly inside the desk it was placed in. disabled the wifi, put a small desk fan behind it, runs well enough. didn't know it didn't have a VGA port so had to get a new monitor as well
the internal lighting is nice, without being distractingly bright, and the graphics card helps move things along (even though it doesn't like either old VGA moniters, nor old TVs) so it would work well with a nice open-air desk

I got this rig for about $460ish including taxes(it was also on sale). But for the price and what your getting it is almost as if you built it yourself which is cheaper. The interior is not the prettiest but a great starter for people who want to game 1080p and with good frames at decent settings.

We have been using this machine now for the past two years as our main home computer. It is my wife's main system and she works it hard. She does mostly accounting and HR so the software is not technically demanding, but the machine is in almost constant use every day. I also use it for some video production and it does a great job handling the larger files for editing. We recently tried compositing multiple videos in Premier and the system is a little underpowered for that heavy requirement, but it worked. My only complaint is that the fan sometimes kicks into high gear and it is a bit noisy, but other than that, it is a great, reliable machine.
