A really basic computer that is at best adequate. Does not have camera and while I use this feature seldom it is nice to have available. Other than that this is a decent computer that works well.

Do not order a refurbished laptop from them. This thing came with scratches, dirty, and gives errors due to the aftermarket power supply it came with. Also the windows sticker was removed and I believe this was due to it originally coming with windows 7. These refurbs come from some refurbing company and I'm sure if Bestbuy saw what they were sending out, they would stop using this company.

The spec says it has 8GB of RAM and a thunderbolt port. It actually came with no thunderbolt port and 4 GB of RAM. When I called support I was told that they didn’t have a replacement. I would have gone back for a refund but a friend was able to upgrade the RAM for me.

    Good laptop for limited use

I bought the laptop to replace one that my wife had wrecked that I had purchased as a Christmas present some years earlier. It's a sufficient replacement for the limited use it gets and she operates it several hours a day for business and pleasure. I'm glad I got it, but it tempts me again to purchase one for myself. That's not so good.

The computer was super slow at everything. Took forever just to boot up and when I finally did it was too slow to do anything. The refurbish department even covered the whole cursor pad with tape and it didn't work correctly.

      Hello Busyparent,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer is running slower than you had hoped it would. We'd recommend running the Windows Performance Troubleshooter to see if there are ways to speed up your computer:

      1. Close all open windows.
      2. Press the Windows logo key + X key on the keyboard.
      3. Click Control Panel.
      4. Click System and Security.
      5. Under Security and Maintenance, select Troubleshoot common problems.
      6. Under System and Security, click Run maintenance tasks.
      7. Follow the on-screen instructions and prompts to complete the process.
      8. Restart the PC.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tSulGV.

If you'd like to see if your computer can boot up faster we'd recommend limiting the number of programs that launch at startup:

      1. Close all open windows.
      2. Press CTRL + Shift + ESC key together on the keyboard.
      3. In the Task Manager window, click Startup tab.
      4. Select the program or application that you want to disable from loading during startup.
      5. Right-click and select Disable.
      6. Repeat Step 4 & 5 for all the programs or applications that you want to disable from loading during startup.
      7. Restart your PC.

I got this refurbished computer as a back up. When it arrived, the computer cut on and worked fine. I notice the battery light wouldnt go off and the computer itself was saying the battery charger was no good. I contacted Best Buy and they offered a partial discount. I NEVER received the gift card they offered to send me and now Im stuck with a computer that wont charge

      Rocky,

We're sorry to hear that your laptop is not holding as much charge as you'd like it to. We'd recommend the following tips to help improve your laptop's battery life:

      Change the Power Plan:

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Ordered it October 3rd, I recieved it October 8th gave it to my son for his birthday November 3rd. It would not go past loading screen. Took it in to best buy on November 4th, they refused to look at it or refund my money due to it being over 30 days. Now I have a piece of garbage and my son has no laptop for his birthday or schoolwork.

      Christy,

We're sorry to hear that your son's computer is not working the way that it should. Dell does offer a One Year Limited Warranty on our products that you can find out more information about here: http://dell.to/2tNsVOs. If you'd like help starting the computer you can try these steps:

      1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
      2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
      3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
      4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
      5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
      6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
      7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

So, I bought this refurbished laptop, that for the price and the specs where great; but the first issue happened after a month of use, I use the laptop almost everyday for school and doing homework, no games or anything like that, and the battery drained faster everyday, right now a full charge only last an hour and a half. The other issue happened this last weekend, after 2 months of use the laptop didn't start, the fans turn on, but after a few seconds all turned off. After reviewing dell documentary and seeing the diagnostics leds, according to the docs, one or maybe the two memory modules are defective. After having spoken to Tech Support of Best Buy, they said that the warranty with them has expired and now need to send the laptop to Dell.
