Laptop is loud, hot, and the OS recovery is broken. I have had to perform a clean install, outside of Dell's OS Recovery tool just to get this to function correctly. The screen is wonderful on this laptop though. For the price, there are better options.

I wish I could give this a 4.8 but it is so close to perfect I feel fine with the 5 stars I have given to this very nice laptop. So, why 4.8? For this price I really would like to see a "yoga" type hinge so it can convert into a tablet. The touch screen is very accurate and responsive and it is shame it must stay open and not flip over completely. None the less I love this compact powerful machine. Although dell promotes this product with entry level graphics, after checking with tech support I learned this little guy will support up to 4 external monitors in addition to the built in screen! That said the OLED screen is really bright, sharp and easy on the eyes! As for processer speed it is more than adequate for power users. I moved my video editing software over and it rendered almost as fast as my liquid cooled gaming desktop! Same with a monster excel spreadsheet I use for testing. The 32 gig ram and 1 Terabyte SSD certainly don't hinder performance. I do rely a lot on cloud storage however, there are times that I need to have large files saved locally when I am traveling. With this unit that is not a problem. The facial recognition feature to unlock is truly amazing. It recognizes me nearly instantly and off I go with the work or play I am doing in that moment. As for battery life, the specifications state up to 20 hours. I can assure you I am never working or playing for that long, however, after a full day of work there was still plenty of juice left! At just over 4 pounds, it is a little heavier than the laptop it replaces but that is a small price to pay for desktop power in such a small form factor. Speaking of which, holding this while open or closed, just screams quality with no perceivable flex even when I hole it by the very corner of the keyboard.

The big selling points of the Dell Premium Laptop 14" are the vibrant 3.2K OLED display, it's sleek and minimalist design and its professional performance chops. In my week of use I came away thoroughly impressed. Obviously, the display is insanely great to look and interact with, colors are vibrant and blacks are deep, has HDR support and 120Hz refresh rate to make your movies, TV shoes and some games look great. The new design language of the capacitive function row and trackpad can be deemed divisive, but I don't mind it as it looks clean and they are always on anyway during use. The white keyboard and trackpad area will probably look gross after a while but so far it does a good job at not showing oil marks from skin or lotions after using it. For the performance, it's more silent beast than anything. You can get some light to medium gaming sessions in, but it's not the point of this laptop. You can edit videos, photos, or some graphic design without too much issue. The 32GB RAM version of my tester gives you a bit of leeway before things become taxing. The only real negative I have is the weight of the laptop. The main culprit is the inclusion of the OLED panel. It's not a chunker, but you may notice its presence in a bag more than some other similarly sized laptops. Overall, the Dell Premium Laptop 14" OLED is a great upper end option to challenge the MacBook Pros and if you can get over the function row change you'll definitely be happy picking one of these up.

It’s clear that Dell is trying to attract a group of clients who are willing to invest in a high-performing, aesthetically pleasing device with its Dell Premium 14" OLED 3.2K Touch Screen Laptop – Intel Core Ultra 7-255H with 32GB Memory. With this 14-inch premium laptop, Dell is delivering a very stylish and unique machine with some of the best specs I’ve seen. However, a few trade-offs need to be mentioned. These high standards are evident right from the unboxing experience. When you open the very sleek and high-quality box, it adds a layer of elegance alongside protection. Inside the box, you’ll find the laptop and its charger. In terms of connectivity, the device includes a two-part USB-C charger. In fact, every port on this laptop is USB-C—there’s no HDMI or standard USB port. However, it does include a headphone jack and an SD card reader. While I appreciate the SD reader, honestly, when are you going to need an SD card more than a regular USB port? I imagine the designers are thinking you'll use an adapter—but that could add latency to peripherals and discourage using the device for gaming. A big shout-out to the designers for the original touchpad. The trackpad blends seamlessly into the wrist rest area, making it look incredibly sleek. You’d expect it to be hard to find, but it’s surprisingly intuitive, as it's located in the usual centered position. Another example of Dell’s push toward minimalism is the Function keys and Escape button—there are no physical keys! Instead, they’re represented by a series of lights on the top row, which respond to touch in those vague areas. While very original, this feature is incredibly finicky for fast use, often requiring 3 or 4 taps to register. Now, let’s talk about specs. This laptop uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU and a whopping 32GB of RAM, which is a huge upgrade from what I previously used. It also includes an Intel Arc 140T GPU and about 1TB of storage, which is excellent. The 2MP front-facing camera works great for video conferencing. Visuals are stunning, thanks to the 3200x2000 screen resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Colors and images are crisp and clearly above average in this sector. But again, it’s not without its flaws. During my very scientific test (playing BeamNG.drive with AI traffic), the system struggled. Frames dropped significantly and input lag became a real issue. Compared to my old laptop—which took 1 or 2 minutes of lag before stabilizing to a playable state—this new one didn’t handle the game well. As I mentioned earlier, it's clear that this computer is not built for intense gaming, though it could handle lighter games reasonably well. Battery life is decent, averaging around 3 hours, depending on usage. There are two other miscellaneous points I’d like to mention. Like many modern devices, the box doesn’t include physical instructions—it comes with a tiny QR code on a random slip of paper. While I understand the push to reduce paper usage, a larger or clearer QR code would help. I’m also not thrilled with the limited one-year warranty; Dell should consider offering more generous coverage for clients who are investing in their premium devices. Finally, note that to turn on the computer, you need to press a blank key located at the top right corner of the keyboard. This might not be obvious for first-time users, even if the designers thought otherwise. All in all, despite a few concerns, this is a great laptop that will be my main companion for office and business tasks—and it will also enhance my movie-watching experience thanks to the excellent display quality. I strongly recommend it—unless gaming is your main use case.

Well spec’d/balanced laptop that is great for most

I am not sure why Dell decided to change their branding, as the XPS line was well liked, but for those unfamiliar, that essentially is what this laptop is. As a whole, I think this laptop is spec’d well and has enough power and nice adds that make it a great machine for most people. It is a really solid combination of a good build, clean, modern, compact, and well thought out design, a well, but not perfect, spec’d machine, and a truly wonderful display. I think it largely gives you everything you need. I say largely only because of the GPU choice. On some level, it is fine for casual gaming, and really, this machine is not really meant for that, or, more than that, but given the other choices it is something to note for those that may need it. Otherwise, I am more than happy. Solid chip, a good amount of quick RAM, a nice 1TB SSD, the display, which really stands out, and some fairly robust connectivity (with 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports as well as modern card reader. All in all, I am pleased with the hardware choices. It more or less handles anything I throw at it. To be clear, I am not crushing it with intensive work loads, but all kinds of life stuff, email, messaging, office things, picture editing, movies, music, some creative work…and especially my Chrome tab “problem.” No issues. No problems. Everything runs smoothly. Even games, that I briefly touched upon earlier. Again, you may need to turn down some settings, and understand expectations, but even here I was pleased. In a perfect dream world, maybe the GPU is swapped out, and perhaps even more so, a premium machine can get a 2TB SSD as standard, but those would really be my only two digs or wishes here. I really do like this laptop. It does everything I need and want it to. Very well. It looks great, although I am still dying to see a matte black one. Please. It is thin and light. Yet well built. I think for productivity, creativity, and media it would be a machine nearly everyone would be happy with, and for all that you get I think the value is there.

This Dell Premium 14” laptop is a definite upgrade to my 5 year old Dell laptop. I immediately noticed the premium feel to it when I first popped it open. The OLED screen is beautiful and I like the touch-screen capability. Honestly though, this is my first touch-screen laptop so I keep forgetting it has that feature. After the initial setup steps, the computer started in on installing updates. A little frustrating, but not surprising. The frustration got worse. The updates didn't seem to take too long, but at a certain point they tanked the computer. It was completely stuck in what appeared to be sleep mode. The lights were on, but nobody was home. The screen was dark, but the keyboard was lit up. Here we go. I was trying to see if I could “wake up” the computer by pressing on the track pad or keys, but nothing was happening. I got frustrated so I walked away for a bit. Came back to it about 15 minutes later and it looked the same - I couldn't wake it up. I pressed the power button, nothing. I then tried holding down the power button to force a reboot. I finally got the computer to restart. When it finally did, everything looked normal and I was able to log in. While navigating around, the OS seems pretty smooth. The keyboard is just ok. I've never really liked laptop keyboards too much. The track pad takes some getting use to. This is the first track pad I've used where there are no borders outlining the track pad. You can't see that it's actually there. This presents a bit of a challenge when using the keyboard because you have to remember to avoid swiping the track pad. I usually remedy these issues by using an external keyboard and mouse. One thing I did start to notice was that apps seemed a bit slow to respond. When setting up the computer, I added my Microsoft account so a lot of the content from my OneDrive was installed. What this did for most apps is install “ghost” icons on the desktop. For example, there was an icon for Chrome, but when I clicked it, it opened Edge and I was taken to where I could download Chrome. That whole process was a bit laggy. From there on, reinstalling all my apps seemed to take quite a bit of time. As a side note, we have 1gb fiber internet service and a WiFi 6 mesh network. We're able to stream 4k TV and have PCs gaming at the same time, with no issues. Once everything was installed, and having some time to use the computer normally, it seemed to perform more and more efficiently. Not sure why, but this computer seems to get better the more you use it. The amount of RAM and HD memory is awesome. The computer seems to have a bit of a challenge when it comes to games. I know this isn't sold as a “gaming” computer, but I don't play any crazy, intensive games either. That being said, for the price of this PC, it would be a wonderful improvement if it had a dedicated GPU for a better graphics experience. Overall, once you can get past the setup challenges and the more you use the computer, the experience gets more pleasant. With the “sufficient” graphics card, this PC performs best as a productivity computer, and for that, I can recommend this laptop, whenever it goes on sale.

This is my second Dell computer/laptop that I have had, but this one is by far the BEST! The other two are old as far as technology is concerned and they both served me well. The first thing I want to point out is the packaging, Dell REALLY spends a lot in how they packaged this laptop, it came in a Dell cardboard box unlike other laptops I have received, and when I saw that I was somewhat concerned due to the fact the outer box had some minor damage. But when I opened the box there was no damage because this laptop is VERY WELL contained. Once I removed the laptop from the box I could just “feel” how well built this computer is! It just feels so smooth and sleek it truly is. I know it’s only a 14” computer but it is very lightweight. The color is beautiful, this laptop just screams impressiveness. This is also the first OLED laptop that I have had, and the colors are just so impressive, the touchscreen is very responsive and its so smooth that I have found myself using the touchscreen far more than I have w/ other laptops that I have. I like the power cord that comes w/ this laptop in that it’s not too bulky as most others are. I also really like how Dell has incorporated their Dell technology that basically makes this laptop run so smoothly. Overall I am throughly impressed w/ this Dell OLED Touch Screen laptop and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Five stars for the packaging from Dell. So far the fingerprint entry is working, let's see if it lasts longer than 3 months like my 4 year old Dell. It has two C ports, and a spot for a mini SD card. The SD card is easy to load and unload. The touch screen works well, although if you are heavy handed when scrolling, you'll be spending time closing windows it thinks you want. Over time, that will get easier, it's simple user interface adapting. I liked being able to import all my cloud data from my old computer to my new one(as easy as importing phone to phone), will perform a hard backup of all data on my old and upload to this one to cover bases. That's 5 star, too. I was able to keep Google as my search engine, although I'm sure Windows will occasionally fight me to regain control. Now, for the reason I am giving it a 4 star review: internet connectivity. I have broadband. Every other device in my house is working great, but this thing constantly drops signal. I don't know if it is the laptop antenna, or a feature of Windows 11 to disconnect from the internet within 30 seconds of inactivity, but it's extremely annoying. For starters, I kept getting told it wasn't connected to the internet when I was setting up. Finally got that resolved after about 10 minutes. I cannot get up and get a glass of water or go fix a sandwich without coming back and finding the internet disconnected. Considering every other device that operates off the wifi is working well, I have to assume there is either a device deficiency limited to this specific laptop, or a way to fix this in Systems and I haven't found the solution yet. It could be as weird as the machine learning my actions and adapting to it, but I don't think we've gotten to that stage yet :) As I have to have this review in within 5 days of receiving, I won't be able to update if I have resolved the issue, so be forewarned you may have to search for a resolution. Another thing is that it is a little sluggish the first day or two when using the search engine. It's getting better, but it was taking seconds for items to load, and I've become an Instant Gratification type of girl in my old age. And popups. Nothing like trying to write this review and having a popup cover part of what I am writing. That, however, has been a pet peeve for a long time and is not the laptop's fault. I'm not a Gamer other than those I get off Google Play, but that isn't why I got this one. For the most part, I'm happy with the ease of navigation, etc, and would recommend this laptop. Hopefully the connectivity issue will be resolved.

So this is a odd bird as far as I am concerned. Very nice size screen and it looks good. Once you experience OLED it's kinda hard to go back. The touch screen is a nice touch (rarely use the feature but it is nice to have it). The 14.5 inch 3200x2000 resolution is gorgeous. The 14 Premium is a nice update to the XPS laptops. It doesn't have a dedicated GPU but that's okay. The keyboard and touchpad are decent. Haptic touchpad is excellent but it would have been nice to know where the edge of it is without guessing. Battery life is good. I have used it for a few days without putting it on the charger and it performs good. I don't game with intergraded graphics. I am spoiled. Speakers are decent. I suggest a nice pair of headphones. It has a headphone jack so there's that. 32GB of ram is pretty awesome. It hasn't shown any signs of buffering or slowing down while I do anything. That 1TB of storage is decent as well. 3 Thunderbolt 4 USB-C connectors are very useful if you have external drives and are doing editing and don't like waiting forever for transfers. The webcam works well with Windows Hello so there's that. Final words. It has a nice premium feel to it so if you are looking at a Mac Book replacement this might be what you need.

Let down on plastic quality, feel, and personality

I wanted to love this laptop as I have a number of Dell computers, but this one was lack luster, meh! The plastic feels cheap while the XPS's of a few years ago were a delight to feel. It doesn't like to turn on without a warm up and the ssd doesn't really feel like the fast restarts are on par with other laptops at this price point. It is tough to open without two hands and lacks in the user friendly feel of a smooth opening laptop. I wish it had one usb-a...I know USB-C is the new age, but we all still have something like a gaming headset, mouse receiver, etc that a usb-a port is still relevant. One plus is that the display is bright, vibrant, and stunning visually! That is what should have inspired the surrounding design, but it just feels blah. When you go to reposition it on a hard surface, it just has that cheap feel and sound as it interacts with other materials. Lastly, and probably the saddest let down for me was demanding games...I get like 24 frames in open world games with mid quality settings for graphics. Sorry, Dell but not a winner for me
