Returned in less than one hour
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The keyboard and delete button went crazy. The Geek Squad could not give me an answer. I returned it and bought an Acer tablet that worked fine.

Dell Tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell should not make a tablet. I have owned a number of dell computers. The should stick to computers. Poor function, poor quality. I'm not sure what you'd use this for, really. If you're thinking of buying, think again.

Excellent value in an HD resolution tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a Dell Venue 8 Model V8TBL-3334 four days ago and I am pleasantly surprised at the performance the features and price. I started looking for an HD resolution tablet because I recently added a Miracast adapter to our flat screen HD TV and the Android and Windows tablets I had either weren't HD resolution, didn't support Miracast or had fairly restrictive battery life. I picked up the Dell Venue 8 Model V8TBL-3334 when the price was right to experiment, and I am happy so far that it looks like a success. The collection of Android Apps that I normally use, Enhanced Email, Boat web browser, Netflix, Xfinity to Go, BS Player, ES File Manager, Solitaire and Chess games all run fine. I am not a user of an Android tablet for social media so I don't know how well the Dell supports that. The Venue 8 and the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter configure and connect without problems, I like to dim the tablet screen when streaming to save a battery power and some of the video player apps I have tried don't support that on the Venue 8 as the same apps do on other tablets but some of the video player apps do support screen dimming on the Venue 8 so I'll just try apps to find the one I like best. Battery life looks like it will be between 7 and 8 hours for about 50% web browsing/email and 50% video streaming. The single speaker has the widest volume range I have seen on a tablet. I noticed that there are a number of unenthusiastic reviews but it looks like many of them are from persons who are new to the Android environment and have been tempted by the price and features and this may be their first Android tablet. The Intel Atom is a relatively new platform for Android and not all Android apps run in it correctly yet, which is a not uncommon situation, older popular platform architectures have wider support in apps. The Dell Venue 8 Model V8TBL-3334 Android tablet is a great value in a full HD resolution 8 inch tablet especially at its at current on sale price less then $150. With an excellent 8 inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 16GB main drive expandable with a micro SD card (I use a 64 GB with mine#, a quick Intel Atom Z3480 SOC #System on a Chip)and respectable battery life.

Failed in 30 Days Best Buy won't take back
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved the Dell Venue 8 3840 (Not Pro). Great picture. Good sound. Actually for the price it's perfect. 20 days in, something came loose inside the charging port, causing the cord to go in crooked and doesn't maintain connection. At 31 days I tried to return/exchange this device at the store. They consulted their computer terminal, which determined I had to send it to Dell. After 40 minutes on the phone with Dell, I get to pay return shipping, wait 5 -10 after they receive it, then they will ship it back. So my brand new tablet will now be unavailable for at least three weeks. Do yourself a favor. Buy a Kindle, they will immediately ship you a new one, then deal with your broken one.

Very dissapointed to say the least
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tablet expecting good value and performance. Owning a number of Dell products over the years, I have been pleased overall. The physical design is very nice, and the screen quality is good. This is where the praise stops. After spending a couple of hours on the phone with Dell support, I thought the problems may have been solved at first, but no luck. I will say the Dell support folks are great, and work hard to help customers. I would still recommend Dell computers. Just not tablets at this time. Apps crash often, games are unplayable, and even a website like Craigslist is unusable. I think that says enough. I returned the Dell for a tablet that costs about 2/3rds the price. This small tablet seems smooth as glass in comparison. Popular brand, but I will not say here. I will also add that I used the Windows 8 version of this tablet for a while, and it was pretty darn good. My only issues were with WIn 8, and not the tablet. The real bummer is that this is like your favorite team loosing a big game. Hopefully, they will correct these problems on the next version.

Perfect!... as an e-reader
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace a nook hd 7 inch e-reader, so I didn't need a powerful tablet, and the high resolution display makes reading and browsing magazines very enjoyable. The tablet received at least 2 system updates while being set up, and I have had no screen freeze or lag problems while using it. While reading, I usually have a browser open and google earth, which has caused no problems. Earth loads quickly, renders beautifully, and firefox has not crashed yet. If you are looking for a great e-reader, then this is a steal, particularly if you look at other brand's screen specs and pricing! (price just went down another $20) If you are looking for a tablet for gaming or other processor intensive applications, you should probably not buy this one

Not so great.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a few problems with this tablet. To begin with there is not much ram. Out of the box you are using almost all the free ram it has. This makes the tablet incredibly slow. So slow in fact you think it freezing up but it's not it's just still loading. I've gotten rid of all but the bear necessities to run it and the operating system still uses up almost all of the ram. Also apps and the browser crash frequently. This is just not a very good tablet, to be blunt. Even just for surging the web. Do to the frequent crashes and the extremely slow load times. You are better off getting a tablet with a better processer and more ram even if it cost you a more.

Lousy performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a lot of hope for this tablet when I purchased two of them. Researching online brought me to a CNET review which raved about the performance of the Venue 8, only to find it was the last generation tablet they spoke of. This device had only 1GB of RAM, compared to the 2GB of the last generation model. While most tablets would work well with 1GB of RAM, this unit was surprisingly slow, unresponsive, and couldn't run Google Chrome if your life depended on it. I reached out to Dell Support and was given all the basic troubleshooting, but even they were unable to bypass the myriad of performance issues. Between the OS and the features included, 800 MB of RAM were swallowed up before any apps were running. Trying to use any of the included apps (such as Facebook, Amazon, etc) would result in a slew of slow downs, app crashes, hangs, and ultimate frustration. After a week, I finally gave up on this thing and promptly exchanged them for a different item. Don't buy this.

Always freezes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is junk! I wish I would have returned it in the first 30 days, but was waiting for the update in the OS thinking it would help. Never got the update. This thing freezes all the time, doesn't support my favorite games and apps, is slower than anything I've used since dial-up. Do yourself a favor, DON'T BUY THIS!!! If I could, I'd bring this thing back right away and find another tablet. I won't be buying Dell products again!

Great tablet with some attention
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have seen many posts indicating 1 GB is insufficient for this device. Do some homework, KitKat was designed to run on 512MB of ram. The issue with apps crashing can be found on tons of other devices other than Dell Venue 8... take some time to research, trial apps and find what works on this tablet, Its a sweet tablet, the screen is awesome and especially more so when on sale. Maxthon browser runs flawless; disable the dud apps, investigate developer mode and tweak as others have and its near perfect. For the price, very hard to beat.

Best for price point
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had Samsung Galaxy Tab 2-4 before and pros of this Dell is 8" screen and 16 GB space. 8 GB which is Tab default just not enough (is for me but I only play 1 game and 1 other app). I plan buy another one for my nephew since he plays alot more games. Con is is not Samsung. But way better than some other tablets tried before found Galaxy Tab. If Samsung ever goes to default of 16 GB space I will go back to them.

Do your research
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello there, first off I need to say the size and picture was perfect but it would freeze and it drove me crazy and I've only had it for a day! I will be returning it tomorrow. I normally do my research on these types of thing before I buy them but I didn't this time. I will never buy something without doing my research again.

Baaddd... Nerve racking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought that being a DELL, it would be good and nice VFM. How wrong was I. I am with all 1 * reviews. I got this tablet for my son to play his games, so that he no longer bothers to disturb me for my cell. Alas! How wrong was I. He is now coming back to my cell more. So there is no facebook, twitter or social apps. Just the Gmail app for emails, some games. 30 s of browsing a webpage in Chrome brings the tablet to a hang. Keyboard comes 5s after pressing it. Pressing the home screen does not go fast . Same with some games (though it takes far longer to hang the system). In built browser, Opera, Firefox exhibit the same behavior after a few more seconds. Finally the system gives up saying "Application cannot respond. Close Y/N". Once clicking "Y" it does a beep and comes to the home screen. For some time it works normally. Then lather, rinse, repeat.... During the hanging process, when u press the lock button, it locks. But it does not respond to the unlock button for some time. If there is only 1 thing that is good in the tablet it is the 1080p screen. It runs Youtube for a much longer time before croaking. But the remainder of the package nullifies the only advantage. I plan to return this back to BBY. Pros: Screen Cons: Everything else. Final Thoughts: I would recommend to my enemy

Poor performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a long time android user and have plenty of experience with multiple android devices, but when you browse web pages reading stories on this device, the table likes to lock up and not scroll up nor down. Pressing the home key does nothing then about 40 seconds later the screen starts moving then closes the browser. PLEASE don't waste your time spend the extra cash and get something with 2 gigs of RAM. If you have an enemy, recommend this tablet to them. DO NOT BUY THIS TABLET FOR YOURSELF OR AS A GIFT. I missed the 15 day cut off window to return it to best buy so now I'm stuck trying to resell it. I purchased an Ipad Air as the replacement.
