I purchased several 2-in-1 devices prior to this netbook and realized that 2-1's are really not very good at being laptops and not very good at being tablets. As such, this device is better suited for my use, which is having a light weight and portable device suitable for productive work activities and entertainment. It is great for travel and is capable of being a household's primary computer. This is a good device for someone on the move who is willing to pay a premium for portability.

I got this incredible piece of technology around a month back and am writing on the basis of my experience till date. The screen is most amazing screen you would have ever seen. Boots really quick and fits easily in an 11 inch laptop bag. Built quality is extremely sturdy and its really above expectations on every parameter.

Ok, I'm not a computer expert, but I like this laptop. I had an old 17" Dell laptop that has nice screen resolution, but really, who is going to lug around a laptop that big. My work computer is also a Dell, 13 inch, and, compared to this laptop, it looks very clunky (I know, highly technical terms). I like the feel of the keyboard, I'm getting use to using the touchscreen and I look forward to Windows 10. I haven't loaded any of the Windows Office programs yet and use the laptop for mostly internet access. It was a bit of a splurge, but I think it is a keeper.

This is a great laptop. It boots up quickly, and has boots up quickly and has great speed. it is very light and seems durable. The screen goes to the edge and seems much larger than competing Apple products. It is excellent for college students. The only downside is the camera shoots from a low, unflatering angle.

I am so happy with my Dell Laptop with Windows 8.1. Earlier this year I spent more money than I needed to on a desktop just to get Windows 7. The horror stories about 8.1 are grossly exaggerated. I have found it very intuitive and I like having the things I use the most on my desktop (or whatever it is really called). The Dell XPS is very light weight (almost as light as my iPad and it will do a lot more). It boots up almost instantaneously. The keyboard does take a little getting used to. I got a touch screen because I wanted the HD screen, but I don't use the touch screen. I really prefer the control of a mouse. The touch pad was okay to use, however. This won't replace my desktop, but I do find myself using it a lot since it is more convenient than going upstairs to my office to use the desktop. It is small enough to sit very unobtrusively on the kitchen table. I have traveled with it and it is a joy because it is so small and lightweight.

Functionality and "carry-ability" are fantastic Starts up very quickly and the screen is crisp and easy to read. Love the lit keyboard. Touch pad could be a bit more responsive. The one major problem I'm having is getting the machine to LOCK (require password for log in) when I shut down or hibernate but that appears to be a windows issue, not the machine itself. Geek Squad said they would help when I have time to take the machine in. Looked at this one a long time, as I'd had an XPS in the past. This is actually about half pound heavier but much more robust in functionality.

I really like this laptop. The display is beautiful, the keyboard is nice, with useful hotkeys, nice trackpad. The only thing I dislike about it is that it's running windows 8. It's not an awful OS, but there are so many things that I'm hoping with be improved with windows 10.

    Best Ultrabook on the market

I have been a computer specialist for over 30 years and have been using Dell laptops over the past 18. This one replaced my XPS13 3rd gen I3 chip. I bought it because of the speed of the I7, increased memory to 8gig, and the larger solid state drive of 256gig. It has been in use over the last month. The battery life is excellent, even when using it constantly on the go. The smaller AC charger is great for traveling and even has an adapter that you can use instead of the 3 foot section AC cord. The cord to the laptop is round so you can actually wrap it around the charger body and has a connector to keep it tight. The screen really goes from edge to edge and the resolution, 3200X1800, is more crisp and bright than any other I have seen. I even saved at least $200 over the Dell member purchase plan and have Best Buy geek squad to help if I need repair not wasting time on the phone with Dell reps that read off their preprinted responses that I have already checked out before calling. Right now nothing can tough it in the Ultrabook market.

Just got this gem earlier today, delivered here in three days. Out of the box it started up with ease. Everything looks great and it was everything I expected, and more. Downloaded Microsoft Office 365 University and all of the Office Apps (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, OneNote, Outlook) were downloaded and installed in under a 30 seconds. I actually didn't think it installed at first, but it did. Everything so fast. Definitely get your hands on this Ultrabook, you won't regret it.

    Except for shutting down randomly....

I am returning this computer today. I purchased it several weeks ago. Delivery was great. The computer is exactly what I wanted, thin, lightweight, fast, and powerful.....until it shuts down. Error message was "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.....". This was happening twice a day. Programs would lock-up and data would be lost. My IT firm identified the problem as the ethernet driver crashing and installed an updated driver from Dell. That worked for a few days, then the crashing began again. It is with sadness that I am returning it for a full refund as a lot of research went into this purchase. I suspect that the computer I received was simply a "lemon" as I couldn't find any other bad reviews of this product.. However, when I purchase a new product I expect it to work correctly out of the box and I shouldn't have to spend time or money to get it working properly.
