One of the best laptops in its category. I think seperating this review in sections will be the best route.
Display- 3/5
The display is alright, it gets plenty bright (Dell claims 500 nits) and would be a good display for content creators. It's a 16x10 aspect ratio, which I think is the best ratio for laptops, giving you extra height while also shrinking the bezels. My biggest complaint is the amount of backlight bleed (maybe a different term for this) this panel exhibits, almost the entire bottom and half way up on the edges are noticably brighter, causing a distraction. It could be just the limitation of thin bezels and limited room for the LED's, but I figured I'd mention it. There is a OLED option that likely solves all of the above issues, but with a lower brightness and potentially lower battery life.
Speakers - 3/5
Okay speakers, but I kept getting distortion when just running through the Windows setup, I've read this is a common thing with Dell Laptops, dating back years, which is dissapointing to see they still haven't managed to fix it. In regular playback through YouTube or Spotify, the audio does sound better, and probably one of the best in a Windows laptop, falling short of the 16'' Macbook Pro, which so far, no laptop has been able to touch.
Keyboard - 5/5
Exellent keyboard, perfect for groove typing or quick bursts, comfortable to type on and the backlight is exellent. For the white variant of the XPS 15 9510, the backlight may be not as effective during daytime because the keys are already white, just fair warning.
Touchpad - 3/5
Okay touchpad, on my unit, the left side is very sunk in, making the click either feel mushy or non-existant at times. This will vary between units due to manufacturing tolerances, but I should also mention several people reporting loose trackpads, or a "double click", which last years models also had, if your unit has that issue, it is a defect.
Build / IO / Webcam & Microphone - 3/5
The build quality of this laptop is phenominal, one of the best around, with aluminum frames. The design is futuristic with those thin bezels all around. The IO is great, although unless your're already all about that dongle life, it may take adjusting. I would have prefered at least 1 USB A port, but I get this laptop is a thin and light for a reason. The Webcam is average, most laptops are still stuck with a 720p webcam, which is very low quality for 2021, I wish laptop makers would, even if they have to make the lid bigger, add at least a 1080p webcam. The microphones are pretty mediocore, adjusting the settings in the MaxAudio application helped a little, but it's still dissapointing for a laptop at this price.
Upgradability - 4.5/5
Amazing upgradability, two nvme m.2 pcie 4.0 slots, although it comes with a 3.0 ssd. Two ram slots for easy ram upgrades as well. The only reason I took off a half point here is the wireless card is soldered, but at least for me, the WiFi on this unit hasn't shown any issues.
Performance - 4/5
Exellent performance, I would have prefered a Ryzen CPU in this unit, but the 11800H from Intel works well. I never saw any worrisome temperatures like previous models have had. The GPU is a RTX 3050 Ti, and it's alright, I would of prefered a 3060 like the XPS 17, but this one will do alright. This isn't a gaming laptop, so I wouldn't expect to see high fps numbers, although it can technically game on the side. The 130w adapter is my biggest concern, as it barely is able to handle the CPU and GPU, if you plan on using this with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, I would look for a powered dock, as it will start to lower clock-speeds because of the power limitations.
Battery - 4/5
The FHD+ model is by far the best battery life you'll get from this laptop, I averaged 7-8 in web browsing and light office work, with medium to low brightness. A Ryzen CPU would have improved this drastically, but it's not.
Overall - 3.5/5 (Round up to 4 for Best Buy)
This is a decent laptop, however, I think some of things I listed may be deal breakers for some. If having a better screen over battery life is important, I would recommend the OLED model as the color accuracy is almost perfectt, although you may end up sacrifising 1-2 hours of battery life from the FHD+. The touchpad issues may differ from unit to unit, so my experience may be worse than what you would experience. If you plan on using this for content creator, or school work, it is a great option, especially if you get it for a good price.

Excellent laptop for light gaming and office use. The case material is good. Dell tends to overheat a bit, but that was fixed by buying a laptop stand that allows for space underneath for breathing. The three USB C slots is a bit limiting, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with buying a connector.

This laptop has really great build quality. Chassis made from aluminum and the palmrest from Carbon Fiber - A+ design. Since, it is so slim, it suffers in heat dissipation. I haven't tested it with heavy games but starts to run hot with CSGO. Battery life is also mediocre with around 4-5 hours of multitasking. Screen is excellent, I also saw the OLED option which IMO didn't make much of a difference for a screen this size. It is fast too, and will take whatever you throw at it.

Considering the global supply shortage, this is the best computer I could find for the price. I compared this laptop to possibly purchasing the upcoming Macbook Pro 16 inch, but couldn't wait too long for a new laptop. Pros: fast, boots quickly, soft palm rest, display is good for editing photos and videos, price can't be beat for an RTX 3050 Ti. This is not a gaming laptop, so look elsewhere for heavy gaming. Cons: the palm rest can get oily, so constant cleaning, the screen can be too bright even at lowest setting in a darker room. Honestly, these are personal cons. I would recommend it as one of the best Windows laptops on the market for creators/programmers. Five Stars.

I took back my surface laptop 4 to upgrade to this unit so that I could utilize the NVIDIA graphics card. The XPS 15 is definitely a really premium laptop, with exceptional build quality, phenomenal performance and powerful gaming/creative graphics. Unfortunately, there were a couple of things that I just couldn't get over, which forced me to return it. These issues may not apply to everyone, however... The first and main issues was that the webcam was atrocious. I couldn't justify paying the extra money for this unit only to have a MUCH cheaper pixilated and grainy webcam. Since I use the webcam so much for work and school, it was (stupidly) a deal breaker. I shouldn't have to buy an external webcam, given how much more I paid for this unit. I was surprised that this wasn't mentioned more in the reviews, given how much of our lives have turned virtual and how much we rely on webcams these days. I ended up going back to the SL4 since it had the specs and a decent webcam (just no graphics card). The other issue I noticed with the XPS 15 was the fan noise. A high-pitched whine coming from the fan was immediately noticeable, and got worse when the GPU was under load. I would expect SOME fan noise, but not so excessive and definitely not coupled with the high-pitch whine. I'm assuming the slim design may contribute to the lack of ventilation and need for high fan use. There was also a potential "fix" I found online, but hadn't tried. If these things don't bother you, this may be the laptop for you. Unfortunately, it didn't meet my needs.
TL;DR - Pros - graphics performance, build quality, good specs, comes with a USB-C to HDMI dongle
Cons - the webcam is absolutely terrible, excessive/whiney fan noise, exorbitant price point, no touch screen

I have been using Dell XPS laptops (home) and Precision laptops (work) for a couple of years now and there is a reason why I continue coming back to them, they are excellent machines.
The build quality is top tier. The keyboard is tactile and has a great feel and the trackpad is huge and responsive. It has great palm rejection, tracking, and a satisfying click when you tap it. The display is very bright and accurate and even though it is FHD it is still fine for 15".
Performance is where this thing jumps ahead of the older 9500 I had with the 1650Ti - you can actually game on it! The 3050Ti isn't a huge improvement over the 1650Ti of the older model, but what it does do is DLSS which can allow you to play games that support it that the older laptop couldn't. My older 9500 struggled with Overwatch and Call of Duty was unplayable, that is completely changed with the 9510 with the 3050Ti. Once DLSS is enabled framerates are stable and it doesn't even get that hot.
If I am being purely objective there are a few things with it. The Dell XPS build has tapered off over the past few years and some people have had production issues with trackpad wiggles and a lid that doesn't shut properly. The battery life can also be a little better, but I am also running Windows 11 at the moment so that could be part of the issue as well.
Otherwise it does everything great, charges over USB-C so any 50w or higher charger will work great. The display is bright, performance solid, speakers sound excellent and the trackpad and keyboard are the best package you can buy.
Its a solid 9/10 laptop assuming you dont get a model with build issues!

I was torn between this and the HP spectre. I played with both walking back and forth for awhile just to make sure I like the feel of the keyboard, mouse etc.
I'm heading into grad school and I needed a fast reliable computer.. I ended up getting the Dell. It was a bit expensive but so far totally worth it.
The only downside is that I had to buy a USB-C adapter, it comes with one in the box but only has two ports. I bought a adapter on Amazon that has 8 ports for different connections that was only about $25, it also gets hot pretty fast. Other than that I LOVE THIS computer fast and can handle all the demands I've had for it. Running music in the background, having 6-8 tabs open, while comparing word documents and editing.

For a first time dell user, I am impressed. The laptop had a good build quality. If feels sturdy and lightweight for a 15 inch laptop. It feels like more of a 14 inch in my opinion. The eight core processor with the NVIDIA graphics and 16 gb ram give an extremely solid performance when running higher end software like CAD or gaming. The display was much better than what I expected considering it was only FHD+ and not OLED. I would definitely recommend it to any one who requires high end performance on the go. The carbon feels nice when typing but gets dirty real easy. It also gets really warm when running higher end software for an extended period of time. Overall though, I really enjoyed this product.

The Dell XPS 15 from three years ago suffered from significant heat issues and subpar battery life, prompting me to switch to Apple. Despite its powerful performance, the heat generated by the device was uncomfortable and concerning, particularly during extended use. Additionally, the battery life fell short of expectations, limiting its portability and usability on-the-go. Overall, these shortcomings overshadowed its impressive specs and forced me to seek a more reliable and efficient computing experience with Apple products.

Extremely nice laptop to use with so much power. This thing cuts through any task you throw at it and looks so nice too. Yes I know it's not a gaming laptop but it'll run most games 1080p medium to high settings well. Does get pretty hot under load and idling but other than that it's great. The screen is awesome too. Highly recommend

Really loving daily driving this. Im a first year engineering student and I’ve been using this for about 7 weeks now. So far it’s given me no hiccups, other than like a frozen screen but all I had to do was shut it down, and typing and doing homework on here is a dream. The most intensive thing I’ve done so far is run solid works and this thing ran it with zero issues so no complaints this far.

I switched from a MS Surface Book 2 after 4 years and I don’t miss it. The screen quality is a downgrade (I was on a budget or else I’d go for OLED), but I still love this laptop so much. It even comes with an adapter! Performance and keyboard are top notch. I also like the fingerprint reader. I recommend it
