The laptop has a nice design but thats about it. Because of the sleek looking design, the laptop is very thing and it thermal throttles a lot, reducing performance significantly. They need come with a better cooling solution for this laptop, you are literally not using the cpu and gpu to its full potential .Intel doesnt allowed you to undervolt the cpu so there is no workaround for this issue. Other than that, it is a very decent laptop. If you are just going to surf the web, this will be the perfect laptop for you. If you are looking for power or multimedia, there are way better options for this price.

Hello Jsantana,
We want to thank you for taking the time to leave us your valued feedback. We are sorry to hear you are not completely satisfied with the cooling system of your XPS 9510. Dell has released an Intel Power Management Utility to help with the overheating that you may be experiencing on your computer. For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon, should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power. The Intel Power Management Utility can be found here - http://dell.to/3tStRgX. We also recommend that you check for any BIOS and Software updates that are available for your computer on the Dell Product Support Page for your system. Many times downloading and running the latest BIOS and drivers can help with overheating concerns that you may be experiencing.

Great computer with speed and easy to navigate. I would recommend.

Great laptop. Slim compact and light. My only complaint is that it gets a bit hot under load and that the lid creaks. I would also like the battery to be longer. As a student, its perfect for me.

I'm a current owner for a Dell XPS 9550 and it's still rocking, however, the older processor is starting to show its age so I decided it was time for a new laptop. I was originally leaning towards a gaming laptop, however, many of the more budget friendly laptops (my budget was about $2000) had some flimsy looking screens/lids (e.g. Asus G15). Since, I don't play intensive games but more so strategy (i.e. Civilization VI), I was willing to compromise on a weaker GPU for a better build quality. Luckily, Best Buy had the XPS 9510 on sale for $300 off the selling price ($1899.99) plus it qualified for the additional $100 student deals discount. For the specs and the build quality and the price, the XPS 9510 was a no brainer. Overall, I'm really impressed with this unit and I expect to use it for several years. If you're looking for a good build quality laptop with midrange performance, I highly recommend checking out this unit especially if you can get it discounted!

Probably the best looking laptop on the market right now, not only that but the feel of the quality is amazing. Battery lasts long enough for me while doing some intensive tasks but could be better. Overall this a great laptop, it is definitely at the top for Windows laptops.

I purchased this Dell XPS 15 for my 13 year old gamer who already has an Apple desk top & MacBook Air and let me tell you! My pre-teen LOVES IT!! The graphics, speed & everything is Awesome!!! It’s definitely worth the price!! So go for it, you will not regret it.

Just recently bought this laptop for general productivity and graphic software. This laptop has no problem pushing out hardcore photo editing and 3d design. This laptop works wonders for it all. Only nitpick I have is the heat. If you put it under any load it get hot, very hot. The fan is in the bottom too giving out very poor air flow. If you plan on using this, get a ventilated laptop stand so you do not over heat the laptop. Other than that this is perfect. The 16gb of RAM is great for all the photo editing you need and the rtx 3050ti lets you perform heavy photo editing and minor gaming.

This laptop is worth the price. Fast loading, smooth transitions, good feel keyboard/keys and solid construction - this laptop does not feel cheap or flimsy at all.

So far so good. Got this for my son for College as a Computer Science major, so wanted good processing, graphics card, etc and I recently purchased the XPS 17 for myself. Overall its a quality machine with a few glitches that need to be addressed with firmware updates such as excessive fan use and problems with Sleep/Hibernate to name a few. Also you do need the included adaptor for standard USB peripherals since this only has USB C, but that is the wave of the future. Would have got the 13" but can't get the Nvidia card with that size machine. Battery life is just ok, if you are used to a Mac, not nearly as long.

This is a fantastic laptop with a beautiful screen.... But... There's always a but. Behind the beautiful package is some high power hardware that unfortunately the cooling just can't keep up with. While plenty will say "this isn't a gaming laptop". It *CAN* play games. And while I play a game maybe once a week. I expected that it would fit the bill. It's not a super high end GPU. But I figured it would play a few titles at some reduced settings. It did. And it did it well. I was getting 60-80FPS in COD Warzone. However that would only last for ~2 minutes before the CPU would begin to power limit. Something about using both the CPU and GPU at the same time caused a power limitation (Some argued thermal, because the VRM's are getting hot). Either way the CPU would clock back to 800mhz-1.2Ghz and the game would come to a pretty quick 15-20fps slideshow. For the price, and given the rest of the package (It really is an amazing laptop). I was disappointed. This same throttling was also visible in create work. Like video editing. While encoding video with the CPU and Nvidia NVENC encoder. The system would regularly start to power limit and dump the CPU core clock. This was true for basically any task that used both the CPU and GPU. Some posts on reddit..etc. recommended repasting the CPU/GPU and putting some thermal pads on the VRM's. I didn't want to do this to a brandnew laptop. Not that I had just spent a fortune on. I even found posts where dell recommended disabling Intel Turbo Boost and things like that. Which did help actually. But also quite limited the performance of the system as whole. So ultimately, I returned the machine and bought the ASUS Zephyrus M16. Which I am very happy with. Quite a shame given the rest of the laptop is so great.

Good but not perfect; battery life not the longest and it can overheat if you set on cloth surface that blocks the cooling vent.

Slightly heavier than I expected. I do not like the lack of ports and having to use the added donegal.

A very nice laptop. Good build and audio quality, and a very large mousepad. Is quite lightweight, and can run games reasonably well without getting too hot. The display is gorgeous.

The XPS 15 has great build quality and complementary performance. Which makes it disappointing that the screen doesn't have the refresh rate to accurately showcase the performance. One other minor gripe is the port selection, there are no USB-A ports or onboard HDMI. The battery life is also poor for the class it is in.

Very good computer after owning it for a year. The only problem is the pad which some models can have trouble bit the warranty will cover it

Great laptop.. fair price. Fast speed, display is great, the battery life could be a bit better, but it’s due to the touch screen option.

Super fast and does everything I need it to do! It's lightweight, quiet, and sleek. I like it as a busy college student for note taking and light gaming.

I’m really liking the new Dell XPS 15. It’s a nice balance between size, performance, and value. I own several Dell machines as well as some custom-built gaming equipment. In general, I have rigs that are built for specific use cases…because I’m a nerd and I spend too much money on my tech. But I also like to keep a multitasker machine around for travel. This little guy fills that role extremely well. Out of the box, it feels very solid. It has enough weight to it that you don’t get a cheap flimsy feel, but it’s still light enough to make it a great portable option. It is nice and thin. The screen is fantastic. The 1920x1200 resolution is very crisp. The screen is super bright. I turn it down a bit to ease the strain on my eyes. I like the matte finish on the screen, so I don’t have to worry about glare when sitting in a bright airport or working from the car. It is not a touch screen…just so you know. The performance of this laptop is quite snappy. It boots in seconds and opens apps and games quickly. The combination of 16gb of ram, the i7, and the SSD really come together nicely. The 3050 TI graphics card is impressive. I would say it performs about on par with the 2060. That’s not a knock, they are just different designs and bring their own pro’s and con’s to the table. It plays games well. I’ve seen some reviews that say you can play just about anything on high settings. I tend to disagree with that assessment. I find that medium is the sweet spot for this card. When I turn things up to high, I experience some tearing and lag. It still show about 40fps on high, but it doesn’t quite run smooth enough for my taste. On medium settings, I run closer to 100fps. If you turn all the fancy bells and whistled down in your game and just focus on the important stuff, you can pull over 200fps. It does run hot when under a load. You aren’t going to want it sitting on your bare skin. I would recommend running it on a chiller mat when not on the go. It’s very quiet. Even when gaming, I don’t even notice the fans. I suppose that's the tradeoff. Noise control vs heat control. It’s all good, just know that the bottom heats up in a hurry. I really like the sound quality. The build in speakers are great. When I first booted it up, I didn’t love what I heard, but then I found the sound card management app. There are a ton of preset eq options to choose from. If you still can’t find something you like, you can set your own custom EQ. Once I tweaked things a bit, the audio details in music and games were clean and clear. It does a nice job with directional sound. It was easy to tell where shots where coming from. The one thing I don’t love is that there is nothing but USB-C on this thing. I get it, it’s newer, but there are still so many older USB devices in use that I feel it’s too soon to drop the older style entirely. I prefer to have both. This laptop forces you to carry around adaptors. They include one in the box, so you can hook up an HDMI cable and a single older USB device. I would prefer to have HDMI, and one older USB connection built in. It’s not a deal breaker but having to dig out adaptors to use flash drives and wireless mouse receivers is a bit annoying. It does have an SD card reader built in, but I would have preferred HDMI and/or older USB over a card reader. I would definitely recommend running all of the updates as soon as you get it out of the box. There were several critical updates for Windows and Dell drivers, even a bios update. Note: if you can't get the bios update to run, just wait a bit. It conflicts with bitlocker background processes when you first turn it on. It will run later, just worry about the other updates until bitlocker is done doing it's thing. If you want a Dell to run strong, you need to keep it updated. It comes with a 1 year antivirus subscription, so you don’t have to worry about that extra expensive right away. So ya, there you go. I love this thing for travel. It lets you do just about anything you want as long as you don’t expect it to perform like a $3k rig. It’s light, thin, and powerful for its price point. If you don’t need a super high-end laptop and are looking for something smaller and portable (but a little bigger than the 13” screen fad), this is a great option. I’m glad I have it and would definitely recommend it.
