Have worked with Lenovo laptops for years at the office. Have also used Sony, HP and Toshiba. Did not like the keyboards and especially the touch pads on the Lenovo, but wasn't enamored with the others that I've used. After retirement, wanted a very lightweight laptop with a better keyboard and touch pad. Compared reviews of comparable laptops and test drove the Del XPS and Lenovo Yoga. Chose the Del, and after several months just love it. Keyboard and touch pad are so much better, it is lighter and the case is sturdier than the Yoga. The screen is slightly smaller but was willing to sacrifice screen size for weight and overall size. One criticism is that the camera is at the bottom of the screen, but I use my iPad for video conferencing, so that is not an issue for me. The only reason for a 4 star rather than 5 is the new USB ports - but that's an issue with all new computers. A flimsy adapter came with it, but i purchased a travel adapter that has 2 USB 3 ports. It's inconvenient, but there really isn't a good option for USB C that is pretty much the only option.

Battery dies quickly, can lock up sometimes, has the worst 7th gen I5 processor on the market, Toshiba ssd (highest rate of failure in ssd's), and somehow I still love it. It turns on most of the time when I open it, finger scanner works every time, colors are beautiful.

Over the years, my wife and kids have had MacBook airs and I have envied the form factor but I am locked into the windows world. So when I needed a laptop I decided to go small this time. The dell is a great size, well built, solid, good battery life (I intentionally went with the lower resolution screen for better battery life).
Touch screen sometimes stops working. I use a thunderbolt hub and that can be finicky (doesn't always recognize the monitor so I have to unplug and plug in the hdmi cable). But mostly everything works.
It's a better computer than the mac. And I think windows 10 is a better operating system than the Mac.
Now my wife and kids are envious of my computer.

The laptop/tablet is definitely on the higher end when you speak for tablets, but the fact that this tablet masquerades as a laptop as well had my expectations a little higher. It is very fast and responsive, very thin, very light, yet still feels sturdy. Its major downfall lies in the fact that it hosts no dedicated video card, simply put it cannot process higher demands of video memory. It boasts "intel HD graphics" yet falls short of playing a decent 3d game on lowest settings. It is, however, an excellent tablet and laptop for doing other things, but for about any other task you can get something that functions similarly for 1/3 the cost of this device.

I bought this (when there was no deal) for more than thirteen hundred (after tax). I installed Arch Linux on it and didn't use Windows a lot. So my comment is about running Arch on it.
The machine is very fast in booting and shutting down. Everything is perfect except:
1. The wireless card cannot pick up a wireless network when I installed Arch (so I had to buy a usb-c hub with an RJ45 port to be able to install Arch), but everything is ok after Arch is installed. So, this is not a problem with the machine, but with Arch, I guess.
2. Everybody knows that the XPS machines have the webcam below the screen.

This laptop runs CAD very well and smoothly. I also use it in class for note taking and the touch-screen is very helpful. Paired with a stylus, this would be a powerful tool. Its also very light and it doesn't even feel like its there when it's in my bag.

I bought this a few months ago. I immediately pushed it by streaming multiple videos (Netflix, YouTube, Imdb Movie Trailers) time, creating/manipulating a large amount of data in an Excel spreadsheet, and opening a couple browsers (IE, Firefox, and Chrome) with many tabs. I didn't notice any slow down. It was still pretty darn snappy.
It is lightweight, and the display looks quite nice. Touchscreen is pretty cool. On-screen writing is about the best I have experienced (not that I have experienced too many - I have a phone with a stylus). Still working on finding a good stylus app for writing on pdfs.
The only issue I might have with this item itself is that there is no numberpad. Most (if not all) laptops have the numberpad overlaying the keyboard (used via the Fn or NumLock key). I didn't realize this when I purchased it. I am not sure that it would have stopped me if I did. I have yet to need it for doing a lot of accounting type stuff. I may just get an external one.
There is the usual issue with moving to a new tech (USB-C connector in this instance), backward compatibility. I have a buch of USB stuff the doesn't work directly with this device. Granted it comes with a dongle type USB-C adapter, so keep that in mind.
Lastly, Dell doesn't seem to have any good docking stations for this. So, I am still left to figure this out. I will likely find a third party solution and give it a try.

Really nice, ultra slim laptop. Touch screen is awesome. Just wish it came with a pen out of the box. While the CPU is a low voltage unit, it doesn't appear to cause any slowdowns unless you're doing extremely intensive tasks for long periods of time. I love how small it is - it can be carried everywhere like a book.

If you read the professional reviews online, you see that there were some issues with the touchpad and the computer not going to sleep while in your bag.
The computer came out in the first part of 2017. I bought in the latter part of 2017, and it had all those problems, but a Dell update seemed to take care of them. The touchpad has tracked funny a couple times, but nothing absurd.
Otherwise, the computer is plenty fast. I use it for business and have a gazillion apps and tabs open at a time, and it just handles all that. The screen is awesome, and the lack of a fan, due to the Y version of the i7, is an underappreciated feature of this laptop. Once you have it for awhile, you realize that the moment when you flip it around to tablet mode while you're in bed to watch a series or read, and it's absolutely silent and has no vibrations... it's priceless and totally underrated. Also, the keyboard is pretty great, really. Compared to my previous laptop. the immortal Toshiba Z830, this keyboard is just awesome.
I got it on an open box special, and I'm glad that I did. It's a great laptop for a person like me who works 10 hours a day, uses lots of webapps and native apps, and needs a solid little laptop.
Webcam under the screen is annoying, but I do Skype meetings all day and seriously, who cares. What's great is the infinity edge screen. All in all, I really like the laptop.

Bought this Dell XPS 13: 2in1 in Feb 2017 and so far really enjoy it. The positives are the sleek design, light weight, 2in1 function, small footprint due to infinity screen. Could be better areas include replacing what was formerly the Core-M with a true I7 chip. Although I do love the fact that this machine is quiet since it doesn't have fan, but the Core-M chip sometimes lags. However, depending on what you will use this laptop for should drive which Intel chip is needed and in my case, the one that is in this Dell meets my need. I would recommend this Dell 13" 2in1 for the average everyday user that is seeking a sleek lightweight device. For the hardcore users that may do a lot of video editing, than this is not the one for you.

Perfect Little Laptop

This is the perfect little Laptop for me. I already own a Dell laptop but wanted a smaller one that I can use in the bedroom when I am confined due to one of several continuing surgeries. My other laptop is too big for me to handle in bed. This one is just right and because it is a 2 in 1, I can use it as a laptop or a huge tablet. It contains everything my laptop has but is light enough for my brittle bones to handle. Brilliant color! I love it!

Going from a 17" laptop to a 13" has taken some time to adjust. Also the lack of an internal disc drive and 3.0 USB inputs has also presented a steep learning curve, but overall I like the function and appearance of this computer. The clarity of the screen is awesome as my main use for astronomy programs and telescope control..(That part is still a work in progress)... I especiall like that is a 2 n 1, is very portable, and can function like a tablet....

Fantastic Laptop with So, So Selfie Camera

If I could rate this higher than 5 stars I would, in part because I got an open box unit for $730.00 (plus tax). It did not come with the stylus but everything else was in the box! This is my 2nd XPS 13, the first being a 1st gen (non-convertible) model. This model is far superior to what was a ground breaking model when it was first released.
The laptop is extremely fast, has a great screen and is able to do everything I need for business and pleasure (I am not a gamer) without breaking a sweat! It is a fan-less design and the i7 processor is a the slower mobile model but it is able to increase speed in bursts when needed.
The screen is 1080p but is perfect for a laptop of this size. I do not see any need for a 4k screen on what is essentially a business laptop. The touch screen works fine and the Dell stylus (purchased separately) is a handy accessory for note taking or surfing in tablet mode.
My only three "nits" are the placement of the selfie camera, the size of the power adapter and the size of the hard drive (256 gb PCIe). The camera is tolerable for as little as I use it and the drive is fairly easily user replaceable. The power adapter is not that big but the cords are thicker than I'd like. Also, the power cord is three pronged instead of two. On the plus side, it does charge vis USB C so I can use another compact charger if I want to!
I did purchase a USB C hub from Amazon so I could

I purchased this laptop when I found a new job, and needed to be readily available all of the time. This machine is light, fast and bullet proof. Other than cleaning the screen every few weeks, I have had ZERO issues.
The original intent was to use this when I could not get on my desktop. But most of the time, my desktop just goes unused. GREAT machine.
