I have had my eyes on a new laptop now for at least six months. My previous notebook was a relatively cheap thin-and-light Compaq which served its purpose very well but was showing its age. I needed something more powerful, but most importantly, something with good battery life, light weight, and a large hard drive. The Dell XPS M1330 fit the bill perfectly but was always outside of my price range. But this deal brought it all back into reality.
Having done all the research already, I can tell you that you can not configure this system through Dell for anything close to this price (999.99). It thoroughly surprised me to see the upgraded T7250 processor on this spec shet right next to its 320GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM. For me, this is way beyond what I will ever need. And I like that. No more worrying about installing new programs or downloading new videos for fear of using up too much hard drive space. No more waiting for applications to load either. It's all very luxurious and all the more enjoyable by the extremely good price.
The only thing I originally wanted on my M1330 was the LED display, which this system does not have. But, the system is still very, very thin and battery life has been all that I could ask for a system that everything so well. I'm sure the LED unit is nice but I highly doubt it would be a very noticeable difference.
After using this system for a while now, I can say that I am struggling to come up with things that I don't like. In fact, that list only includes a slightly cheap feeling keyboard. But even then, it's hardly a problem as it does what a good keyboard should do: allow quiet typing.
After months of research, it has been incredibly satisfying to find this deal. Don't waste your time looking at reviews and other notebooks. I've done the research extensively and can confidently say that if you are looking for an ultraportable notebook that does it all, get down to the store and buy this notebook.

Hands down the best Laptop I could find in store. Great price @ $999 on sale, so hold off or look to honor sale price.
I was worried about the smaller screen size coming from a whopping 14.1" down to a 13.3" with this XPS. But, after using it and trying different media, web browsing, etc. I find it to not be "too small". It looks fantastic! Great Resolution!! The smaller screen size is welcome and keeps the weight down to a minimum. ( DELL XPS start at under 4lb! ) Built in Webcam is a nice touch, not a deal breaker either way.
Keys are quiet and responsive- touch pad is accurate and well adept. I really like the way this XPS feels & looks.
I read a few other reviews stating this XPS gets too hot- Not the case here.. I am not seeing dangerous or even "uncomfortable" temps. MUCH cooler than my old laptop. I guess if you are gaming with this and you need additional cooling; simply buy an aftermarket cooler.
All in all, this is a GRAET LAPTOP for the $$ spent. 7250 DUO Intel, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD! Only thing this comes up short on is the Graphics chipset. Integrated Intel does the job, but not as good as a dedicated card would do. I don't mind- as I don't play many mem-hog / processor heavy games on the Laptop.. Save it for the Desktop or the Consoles.
Highly recommended!!

I thought that this computer was a good buy. I bought it 2 days ago from best buy. I got it pre-installed with trent anti-virus and i enjoy the laptop very much. It has really good battery life and is very light. the screen does not go as bright as i wanted when it is running on battery alone but I have learned to get used to it. Over all i think this is a good laptop.

OMG! AMAZING!

I was a little nervous about picking out a computer that I hadn't taken for a test drive, but this laptop is AMAZING!
I've had it for 2 weeks and I love it. I know some of the other reviews said they had problems with the keyboard or with the computer just shutting down, but I haven't had any problems with it. It's quiet, it doesn't get hot like my last laptop, and I haven't had a problem with the screen freezing when I adjust the volume either.
I love the fingerprint reader. The volume and play buttons are really cool. I love Windows Vista, too. I've heard people have had problems with it, but I really like it more than Windows XP. It's a little different but not so different that you can't figure it out within 10 minutes.
I'm a college student and this computer is perfect for me. I can take it to class without breaking my back. I can complete my projects quicker than with my old computer (a Toshiba Qosmio that I purchased 4 years ago) because I don't have to wait for it to load anything. It uploads videos and pictures quickly. It took me 30 seconds to install my printer! 30 seconds! I had to wrestle with printer installation for 30 minutes on my Qosmio. My life was less complete before I got my Dell XPS.
Let's just say, if this laptop were a man, I'd marry it.
I <3 my Dell!

I bought it yesterday and the only issue i see with the resolution of 1280 x 800. I'll search for options to increase that if possible.Otherwise it heats up in Lap so i'll look for some laptop-desk or stand.Rest I'd like to rate it 4.7/5 since perfection is never reached. If compare to MAC Book Air its affordable and i'm going to install Linux/Mac as I dont feel i'd not be comfortable working on Vista where XP was luxury

Overall the laptop was a great buy, i have had for only 1 week, and i have found many errors, for example the sound card was not made for low volumes. the graphics are bad, like when you play a video, you might see some bad effects like checkboards, or some line, but overall it was a great buy, since it came with a lot of memory, RAM, and also it come with headphones and a controller.

Lower Price but some problem

I've got this one for $999.00 which was a great deal with the specification. Generally it's ok, image very sharp and clear. speed fast. overall design is good.Yes it does have some quality problem, in example, the space bar (on keyboard) is too tight and doesn't respond easily when you don't push hard enough. a noticable problem for me is that the operating system crashed sometimes to blue screen and restart by itself. I wasn't sure it was because of the memory problem. It looks like a problem of the hardware.
All others are pretty ok, I like it as it's ligter and very cool looking laptop. design and functions are quite neat and fullfill my needs for office and home use. It's a good deal if you happen to have no quality problem.

Good purchase, but can be better

i bought this laptop yesterday from best buy. It beats all other laptops in its class based on the price. I figured the pros and cons of this laptop in one day. The design is very sleek and it is lightweight. On the downside, the system gets heated up pretty quickly, you will need a notebook cooler for longer periods. The inbuilt audio is pretty decent for its size and the media buttons are stylish. For users utilizing VPN clients, it can be pretty disappointing as the 64 bit vista version is incompatible with the current versions of VPN.
Overall, for $999, it is a good price, but i strongly recommend taking a coverage plan for all dell laptops.

This is my 2nd XPS 1330. My first one is a bit sluggish with Vista (2.2Ghz, 2Gb, 120Gb 7200) and occasionally has the referenced "crashes", but the second one is FLAWLESS (2.6Ghz, 4GB, 64Gb Solid State). My belief is the solid state drive makes all the difference. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is I am used to 1920 x 1200 screen resolution from my 15" Dell Precision. The maximum resolution on this screen is 1280 x 800 which seems a bit low. With the integrated HDMI output, an optional Blu-Ray player would be a bonus. Overall I am very satisfied with the computer.

The Best Lap-Top dell has ever made

I have had many different types of lap-tops and this one is the best one I have ever had. As a college student it is perfect to bring to class or anywhere on campus. It has amazing performance and screen quality. It is super light and looks great. I love the feel of the keyboard and the aluminum brushed front plate. The only downside is the fact that it is only a 13.3 in screen, but that is easily made up for by the HDMI port that allows you to hook it right up to an HD tv!!

Best Laptop

This is the best laptop I have ever bought. All the hardware components give it the performance that is needed. Great buy for college students. The Wifi range picks up distant networks. The Intel graphics card brings games and videos to life. Also, the convenient fingerprint reader makes it easy to log into websites by storing your passwords in encrypted files. It also allows you to add files to an encrypted archive which is accessed only by fingerprint.

I had bought it 2 days ago and I'm totally pleased with this laptop, for the price and the speed of it, some guys make some reviews and said the laptop is good enough when they put the calification they reffer to vista and not to the laptop, I think the problem is Vista and not this beauty

got this laptop cheaper with a special promo.
graphics is good, and the hdmi connection is even better.
multitasking is no problem, nothing runs slow with the 4GB and the dual-core processor. webcam works great.
lighter and smaller than the average laptops, but packed with features.
vista sucks, might put linux in it after my warranty expires.

Cheaply Made

I've been using laptops for about 15 years now and although this one is by far the most powerful, it's also the most delicate. VERY cheap construcion! The power adapter constantly falls out...it literally just falls out. It's also ridiculously short. My "d" and "alt" key pop off every few days with barely any pressure. But the worst thing BY FAR....is Vista. It is also very important to know that this laptop DOES NOT SUPPORT ANY XP drivers so don't even think about changing the operating system. It's very frustrating because about 80% of my programs do NOT operate because of Vista and there is NOTHING you can do about it. If I had to go back and do it again, I would go for the same internal hardware package, but ONE THAT SUPPORTS XP. Maybe Toshiba, maybe HP....but it's ESSENTIAL. Trust me on this one you will be happy you did!

Not worth the money

The problem with this laptop is not in the specs which are actually pretty decent for what it is. The major, overwhelming problem is the build quality. Calling it garbage is an understatement. For whatever reason, Dell's flagship XPS 13" laptop has the worst build quality and quality control I have ever seen. Screen problems, keyboard problems, plastic parts falling off and a myriad others ranging from annoyances to show stoppers. Do some research and find out for yourself what a crapshoot this laptop is.
Had the quality been excellent, this would be a steal at the price. It's beautifully designed and performs well for its form-factor. Too bad it falls apart.
Personally, I'll be sticking to Apple and custom notebooks like Sager and Clevo.
