The first thing I noticed about the DeLonghi 10-Cup Coffeemaker was the instructions. They're somewhat sparse, filled with lots of tiny text, and a few simple illustrations. They're not bad, per se, but they're definitely written with the expectation that you have a basic understanding of what you're doing. And that's pretty much my impression of this machine. If you know what you're doing, it's probably going to be your favorite thing ever. If you've never pulled an espresso shot before, you'll likely be a little intimidated. But this is actually a pretty good machine to learn on. As far as the hardware itself goes, this is basically two separate appliances melded together. The drip coffee maker on the right is large and well provisioned - with a gold plated coffee permanent coffee filter, a replaceable chlorine flavor filter, and a programmable timer so you can wake up in the morning to a full carafe. It's definitely on the high end of such machines, but there's really nothing particularly remarkable about it. The real focus is on the espresso maker on the left hand side. This is where it's most obvious that the machine is straddling the divide between a product for experts and one for the average consumer. The build quality is definitely not up to what you'd expect from a professional metal espresso maker, but it's much better than your average plastic appliance too. There's a port to allow you to install a hard water filter in the espresso reservoir. The filter handle is sturdy and almost all metal. The steam wand, on the other hand, is a mix of plastic and metal, and definitely substantially less powerful than what you'd expect on a higher end unit. And that's not entirely a bad thing. I managed to give myself a small burn the first time I tried to make a cappuccino with the unit - the fact that the pressure and output of the wand was lower than others is probably the only thing that kept it from being a large one. And that really sums up this machine. It's just enough for you to do most of the things you'd like to do, and just shy of enough to let you mess up too badly. It's a tricky target to aim for, but they seem to have found it here.

Everything on this unit is just okay. We got it so that there would be less room taken up on our counter, but I wish that we would have just gone with a better espresso maker and kept our old Ninja drip coffee maker.

it's good specially for the price! I want to make cappuccinos and figured this would be a great start... you need to let it warm up a bit before your start the frothing...make sure you completely turn it off otherwise it remains warm up and ready to go!

    Beast of a Machine

This machine is for the person who always has a cup of coffee whether in the morning or night. It is also for the aspiring barista as you can experiment with different types of brew. This machine is capable of providing you 10 cups of drip coffee and with an automatic timer it makes it easy to wake up to a fresh brew. The espresso part of this machine is a bit difficult to master if you're not already familiar with making the drink. It did take me a handful of times to get it right with a lot of research involved to do it. The instructions aren't great so unless you are already informed in making espresso's then chances are you'll have a difficult time too. Making cappuccino was fun because of the process and delicious after the second attempt. It does take time to appreciate what this machine has to offer and patience if it's your first time using a machine of this quality. I can say that after a week with this machine it has been a blessing having it in my kitchen .

Not a fan. I only gave this a 2 star because the espresso steamer is good. Where you put the water for brewing the coffee...leaks. If you don't clean the rim of the craft every single time and still sometimes when you do clean it, when you pour the water/coffee it slides down the bottom of the pot to the counter never making to your coffee cup, well half of it makes it but the other half is in pile on your counter. There is what seems to be a leak across the silver piece on the bottom as well, but cant tell since the top part also leaks. Not worth the money.

Returned it, it leak somewhere, especially when it’s on programs, I set it to make coffee in the morning, but instead of coffee inside the jar, I get pool of water all over our kitchen counter. I thought maybe it an operator error but it did it 3 times. So I returned it. Don’t want to be cleaning spilled water every mornings.

It's only been a short while; nevertheless, it seems to work well. The only thing to know is that the espresso dispenses until you turn it off. In other words, it does not compute how many ounces of an espresso to dispense before it stops brewing.

We really enjoy this barista station. It brews coffee and espresso. I like to pour a cup of coffee and then add a shot of espresso to get me going in the morning. My wife prefers to use the steamer to make cappuccino. We have been using it for 6 months with no problems.

I purchased this model as I like to have drip coffee in the morning and then have espresso in the afternoons. The machine was working well for the first few weeks, the espresso is great but sometimes the milk steamer just stops working and then the next day it's fine again. Not very reliable for something so pricy. Now the drip coffee has stopped working for the past two days and hoping I can get it to work again but I would not recommend this model right now.

The pot leaked as you pour (always). And I have yet to get the expresso to produce a strong mix. And it leaks buckets after you are done serving.

Coffee maker makes a lot of noise. After brewing and removing espresso cup handle it shows a lot of water residue. Does not make the best espresso. It's very weak. Coffee pot brewing is good.

I enjoy grinding my coffee beans each night before I make coffee for the morning. The espresso part takes time learning the right amount of beans to make a good cup of espresso, but that's part of the fun

A wonderful machine for the money. Makes great espresso beverages on one side and drip coffee on the other. Drip coffee could be a little faster, but all in all this is a good addition to the kitchen.

I was excited but soon realize it a bit messy. The espresso has to many steps and you will end up with a bunch of coffee grounds. The easy to use step guide will help.

This is an excellent coffee maker, it makes a great cup and if you like the occasional espresso it does that too. Only bad point is that it loses it memory when it loses power.
