Barista Trained
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At my office, we make coffee every day, all day. So, when our team was gifted an upgrade, we were thrilled with all the bells and whistles. We now run the gamut of our coffee bean dreams. It took a little effort to sort through everyone’s peculiar tweaks to their favorite grinds + blends; but, the guidelines for the basics and even the more elaborate recipes were surprisingly clear and easy to follow. The machine is pretty intuitive. You do have to pay attention to the timing. For instance, to start your espresso, wait for the light to go green as your signal to start the process. Don’t think you can start just because you turned on the power button. Pay attention as well for timing on the milk steaming and frothing processes. The espresso and coffee making functions operate independently but can operate at the same time. The hang of it all comes easier than we expected. In the event some of us were moving too fast to read, we assigned each person in the office their specialty to learn so they can be the trainer in that category for all others as time allows. We loved that we can still use the ESE pods from our old machine; but, we can phase that out, especially since those pods increase the toxic load of dioxins on the planet. (FYI, there are now six vortices of plastics floating around our oceans. Fish eat the plastic. We eat the fish. Have to wonder why the pod machine engineers didn’t create a recycling solution; so, the eco-friendly consumer wouldn’t be lost to the competition.) Features we love: • Since the machine has an internal water filter, we can use tap water with confidence. • The cup warmer on the top is a ‘cozying’ touch that also adds a little more time before your brew goes cold • The stainless steel design lends a visual heft and a professional aesthetic. Elevates our spirits and impresses the clients. • The auto shut down in 2 hrs is convenient • The permanent filter means no need to repurchase paper filters • Every nook and cranny is easy to clean • No longer tied to the single cup-making machine • Makes espressos, cappuccinos, lattes and hot chocolate • Don’t know what she spent; but, looks like ‘overboard’. • The frothing option gives all of our concoctions that specialty barista spin. Will return to update if a ‘con’ emerges.

Great home machine to brew your favorite coffee
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had Delonghi machines in the past and I love their design. They're easy to use and brew a great cup of coffee. This machine continues that great tradition. I use it primarily for the cappuccino making abilities. For anyone who has always wanted to make this drink at home but didn't want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a complicated machine, this machine is a great alternative. It makes a really good espresso with a lot of foam thanks to the pressurized system. That in itself is worth the money if you enjoy espresso, and it's really the basis for a good machine since any cappuccino or latte is based on first making a great espresso. The buttons are laid out nicely and intuitively and also give you prompts by lighting an LED in the button, for the next step in making your brew. The milk steamer works great too and is just like they use in a coffee bar. You independently steam the milk and then use it for making either a cappuccino or a latte (since these two methods are different but both include steamed milk). Cleanup is very simple and is best done right away so that you can pretty much just thoroughly rinse all the parts and set them to dry. There's actually not a lot to wash as most of the machine is very self contained. The included drip coffee maker works really good too and makes a really good cup of coffee. The drip side is not fast but the flavor is worth the wait. We don't use this side as much but it's nice for when we have guests. There are a lot of cool little features that this machine includes, like the built in cup warmer, the fact that the espresso side and the drip side are completely independent of each other and can be used at the same time, and the intuitive nature of the machine in general. If you enjoy different types of coffee but don't always want to go out and spend the money for one, this machine has you covered and you can make pretty much any type of coffee at home that you like. A great machine from a really great company.

Without Irony: Your Friends Will Be Jealous
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love coffee. I drink it daily, probably more than I should. For years I've tinkered with a lot of different machines. I've bought myself a mini espresso machine (which was awful). I have a simple 4-cup coffee maker and a Keurig for "fast" coffee. TL;DR Version: Your friends will be jealous. If you're serious about coffee, like to make your own drinks, and have 5 extra minutes in the morning or afternoon to use this, go for it. It'll save you a trip to the coffee shop. This is, by and large, the fanciest coffee maker I own and the setup fussiness in setup is the single biggest negative. From the way the machine is packaged to how many parts there are, it took 30 minutes to clean everything and another 30 minutes to finish the recommended "shakedown" brews. The second biggest negative: the instructions are not super clear - neither in to how to run anything or as to what and how and where needs to be cleaned, so I literally removed everything that could be removed to start. I had a few misfires with the steam/espresso side at first, but once you screw it up, it's easy to undo and do it the right way (just make sure you're wearing gloves the first time, haha). However, the flip side to the long cleaning process is that you CAN remove almost everything that touches coffee or water (the one exception being the espresso downspout (not the handle/coffeepuck thing, the thing it attaches into that pours the hot water). The steamer nozzle comes off. The water reservoirs come out. Almost everything can be removed and cleaned easily. Even the (both espresso and drip coffee) filters come apart from the filter base to be cleaned. So, how quickly does it brew? Within 5 minutes of finishing the lengthy cleaning process, I'd already made my first latte. Coffee was brewing on the other side and was finished quickly thereafter. How does it taste? Awesome. The consistency is what I'd expect from the espresso; it's easy to get a good cup of coffee from it. The steamer/foamer works fantastic (seriously, look at that picture and consider that I officially started "using" the machine 5 minutes ago). The instructions provide a lot of guidance as to what works well; but the design of the machine and parts is what really shines. The scoop for the espresso component exactly matches how much coffee you need to put in. Flip the scoop over and it's the tamp for the coffeepuck. Third downside which is possibly an upside if you're not a rank amateur (this is minor, but you HAVE to be paying attention when you brew espresso): the machine doesn't automatically start and stop when you set it to brew espresso. The drip coffee side is simple, push a button and it brews and then keeps warm for 2 hours (yeah right, like a fresh pot of coffee lasts that long in your house...) The espresso side, though, has to be turned on. Then, you have to wait for the green light to come on. Then, you push the button for the espresso drip. Then when that light turns off, you have to shut it off yourself (otherwise you'll overrun the cup). I guess this could be a "feature" because you can water down your espresso if you want, or you can correct for under/overpacked coffee in the espresso filter. But the average newbie isn't going to know to do this. The steam takes a few minutes to figure out, but once you've got it down, it's pretty simple. All in all: if you want to be able to make your own fancy coffee drinks, this is a great machine to go with. You'll be able to make your friends jealous with just a little practice. The three downsides (initial setup time, instruction clarity, and no auto-brew option on espresso) are relatively minor, with 2 that are common among all coffee makers and one that won't bug you after the first few uses.

Espresso Gave Out At 7 Months
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DOP: 06/10/20 Online. If I could assign this a zero stars I would. Anything that has me jumping through hoops to get a satisfactory solution is a big DO NOT DO ANY MORE BUSINESS WITH! The espresso maker side quit working after about 7 months. I have Best Buy telling me to call the manufacturer. DeLonghi wants to put me on a video conference like they don't believe me? I don't have time for this. You would think that as a B.B. visa cardholder it would mean something, it doesn't. I should have bought it with my AmX. I would be getting a replacement shipped out by now.

Half / Half
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Half the machine works great. The coffee pot side. Half the machine does not. The expresso side. Machine has to much plastic which made me uncomfortable with high temp and steam when making expresso. Should be metal.
