The toaster I just replaced was plastic and had no special features, so I am loving this new De Longhi toaster! It is all metal with baked enamel finish. The wide slots allow me to toast my bagels and the controls allow me to only toast one side! Love it!

I admit it, we bought this toaster because it looks cool. And in that area, this toaster is a winner. But after you get over how pretty it is, you start to feel like you might have paid a lot for the form and missed out on the function. The lever that is supposed to lift the toast up so you can retrieve it without burning your hands... does almost nothing. The slots for the toast are smallish, and if you use the bagel button you're going to end up with one very burnt bagel (just use a low regular setting to avoid this). Also, and this is still mystifying to me, the product image shows a round, black knob on top that I assumed must be for lifting the toast out without burning your hands. But the toaster arrived at my door with no such knob either on it or in the box waiting to be assembled (I checked 3 times). This was a disappointment. Overall, I would call this toaster adequate, but if you buy it, remember you are paying for the looks.

See the little BLACK BALL on top IT DOES NOT HAVE THIS WHEN YOU RECIEVE IT!!!!! THAT IS WHAT PROMPT ME TO MAKE THE PURCHASE IN THE FIRST PLACE. ITS NOT VERY SMOOTH WHEN YOU SLIDE LEVER DOWN TO MAKE TOAST AND FOR THE PRICE YOU WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE......

I bought the red DeLonghi - 2-Slice Toaster because it is beautiful but now that I have used it for awhile I find that the features are wonderful too. It can toast only one side of my bagel if I wish, and it has a cancel feature so I can pop stuff up early easily. I have a lot of control settings that are easy to use so I get perfect results now.

I really like the legendary look of this toaster. It seems to be durable as well.
