Bought this for 499$ plus tax. I don't know if I would pay more. It took a few tries and had to throw away about half a bag of beans to get the coffee settings correct. I dont like to read instruction books, so I just skimmed the manual to get an idea of how to operate the machine. I have had it for 2 weeks and have used it every day. I have not have any issues with it so far.

From the moment you unbox this product it will leave you in awe. The solid stainless-steel construction and the beautiful design will not only compliment any kitchen, but also your taste buds. The Delonghi La Specialista Arte has a sophisticated looks but with an aesthetically pleasing and easy to use design. The Arte can help you brew barista quality Espresso, Americano, cappuccino, and even just hot water, after a few tries of course. So, lets go over the features, PROS and CONS of the new Delonghi LA Specialista Arte.
Unboxing and Setup:
Nothing special is required to and the unit is pretty much ready to go out the box after you unbox everything. Follow the instructions to rinse out the unit a few times first and the steam wand before use. The Arte does come with everything you will need for your first cup, all you need is the coffee. Included in the box are the items below:
• Delonghi La Specialista Arte
• Dosing Funnel
• Tamping Mat
• Tamper
• Portafilter
• 1 and 2 Cup filters
• Cleaning Tool
• Stainless-Steel Frothing Pitcher
• Water hardness test strip
• Descaling solution
The unit weighs about 22lbs and measures about 11W x 14L x 16H. The Arte has a built-in grinder that offers up to 8 different options of grind, dosing levels and temperature options. In the manual you will find the recommended settings based on the type of roast for the perfect extraction, but you can always play around with the setting until you get that perfect taste. I used the Roast Chart as a reference and then played with the settings a bit until I got what I was looking for and it was perfect. The unit also offers a steam frothing wand that works surprisingly well. One of my favorite options of this unit is that removal parts on this machine are all dishwasher safe, so while you sit back, relax and enjoy your artfully crafted cup of coffee, let your dishwasher do all the cleaning.
I have been using the Arte for a few days now and I can honestly say that I can never go back to a regular old coffee machine. Once you have your grind and dosing levels perfected and using the dosing and tamping guide get the perfect tamp and reach the optimal pressure for that great tasting coffee. It may seem like a lot to do but its really not and just going through the whole process is sort of fun. The only thing that did not appeal to me was the fixed bean hopper. I like to switch my coffee every now and then and with fixed hopper that becomes a bit difficult to switch out the beans, but not a deal breaker.
PROS:
• Easy to use
• Ascetically pleasing
• Solid construction
• Bean Container with Built-in grinder
• Dosing funnel and tamping guide – keeps coffee where it belongs and not on your countertop
• Large water tank
• Separate hot water dispenser
CONS:
• Permanent or Fixed Bean Hopper
Overall, I am very impressed and pleased with the Delonghi La Specialista Arte. The Arte brings the art of making coffee right to your kitchen in a very simplified yet beautiful manner. I would recommend that if you in the market for an espresso machine check out the La Specialista Arte.

Little Barista - And Very Nice!

With the Specialista Arte, De’Longhi makes a very contemporary, well designed, compact, and complete Espresso Machine. Everything is included in the box to make, and have the opportunity to perfect, a great cup of coffee, espresso, latte, or you can just brew hot water for a good cup of hot tea. There are eight levels from which to select from when grinding beans that range from fine to coarse, and pre-ground coffee can also be used. The frothing wand or steam wand heats quickly and a stainless-steel milk pitcher is included.
The water tank fits neatly on the rear of the machine and is easy to fill, remove and to clean. The drip tray removes easily and there is even a small drip tray for use with exceedingly small espresso cups. Other accessories include a portafilter, dosing funnel, 1-cup coffee filter, 2-cup coffee filter, a descaler, cleaning brush, a cleaning needle for the steam nozzle, a tamper, a tamper mat, and even water hardness test paper. Everything is here to be a Barista!
The unit is very compact in comparison to some espresso coffee makers on the market. Some individuals might consider it somewhat of an entry level Espresso Machine, but it is quite a notch above and there is really nothing on the market to compare it to. It operates at 1600 watts and on 120 volts. It only weighs 21.5 lbs., is 14.37 w x 11.22 d x 15.87 h inches and fits nicely on a kitchen countertop under the wall cabinets. The cord is more than ample and not short, stubby, and frustrating. It even has a little storage area on top for all the small little utensils.
The Specialista Arte Espresso Machine looks great and is made mostly in stainless steel and accented in black. It is amazingly easy to use, easy to clean, but best of all it makes a great beverage – espresso, coffee, or latte – whatever your pleasure. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a nice Espresso Coffee Maker.

The De'Longhi Specialista Arte represents the perfect blend of automation with manual hands-on input in my opinion. I am appreciative of the automation of the grinder with settings adjustable for coarseness of the grind along with dosage of the grind (settings are recommended in the included booklet based on the darkness of your roasted beans). I also appreciate the easy temperature selection that also comes with recommendations in the quick start booklet included in the box. The hands-on portion of your espresso making experience comes down to the actual tamping of the grind with the included tamping mat and tamper, and the steaming/foaming of your selected dairy products with the steam wand. These are both experiences that enjoy being hands on about and thus this machine is a winner with me in general.
The build quality and size of this espresso machine is outstanding. As you can see in my pictures, the machine tucks perfectly into my kitchen counter corner without protruding overly much or consuming a bunch of forward counter space. The water tank is pretty low profile and sits on the back of the machine, so I only have to pull the machine forward when the water needs filling (the machine notifies you with a specific light at the front of the machine when it needs fillings). Altogether, the plastics are high quality, the stainless surfaces yield an extremely high-end look without being overly gaudy, and the heftiness of the machine down to even the included frothing pitcher are a testament to the quality present here.
Getting the proper grind, dosage, tamp, and temperature of my espresso took me a couple of tries to be sure. The pressure indicator on the machine was helpful in letting me know how I have done tamping my espresso pucks in the portafilter. The grind and tamping plastic guide that screws onto the portafilter is a necessary item in this process and may be the only aspect of the entire assemblage of the De'Longhi Specialista Arte that feels a little low on quality. I understand its necessity behind having a neat pour of grinds into the portafilter and in assisting you in the tamping process as a sort of edge guide, but it just feels out of place in the whole set up.
Aside from this one small complaint, I have felt nothing but joy and excitement with utilizing the Specialista Arte for my daily espresso-based beverage consumption. We have even found the hot water dispensing function to be greatly useful for hot chocolate in the evenings! It appears to dispense about 8-10oz of water when you are on the hot water setting, and since the machine warms up so quickly it is actually faster to prepare two hot chocolates for my wife and I then it is to use our electric kettle! This is a nice benefit of this machine.
Altogether, if you are looking for a home espresso maker of high quality that fulfills its end of the marketing bargains, this is the one to get. I am impressed by the size, build quality, and beverage quality we are getting out of the Specialista Arte! Thanks for reading and hope this review helps you with your purchasing decision!

Very beautiful espresso machine that fits on our kitchen counter. This espresso machine makes our morning refreshed and fun everyday. It provides 8 different modes of grinding and it grinds the beans finely even if you use level 4-5. You can choose between espresso, americano, and hot water. The frother is excellent. Highly recommend!

This is an awesome machine, it looks great and works as good as it looks. Surprisingly, this machine isn't all that big on the countertop which is great, it's just right in terms of depth, height and width. It comes with double wall filters and accessories for cleaning. It's very easy to use, and the layout of the buttons make it simple to operate and change settings to customize your espresso (temperature, dose and single or double shot). I was surprised to see that this machine doesn't have a water filter inside the water tank which is good as it's one less thing to worry about replacing. Inside the box you get a test to test for hardness so you can set your machine up for the water you'll use.
As far as how well this machine does espresso, it's great. The steam wand works amazing and froths milk in seconds without scorching it. The grinder works amazingly well and the clever tamper tool makes it easy to do it without making a mess all over your countertop. The only thing missing is espresso shot glasses, which I wish they would have included a set.
That said, it's an awesome machine, is easy to use and makes it so you can make your own cappuccinos and frappuccinos! All you need is some milk, flavor syrups (optional), a blender (for frapps) and that's it. It's a wonderful machine, and I'd recommend it!

DE'LONGHI - LA SPECIALISTA ARTE EC9155MB ESPRESSO MACHINE - STAINLESS STEEL/BLACK
MODEL:EC9155MB
HEADLINE:
ANOTHER WINNER FROM DE’LONGHI – GET CLOSER TO YOUR ESPRESSO EXPERIENCE
OVERVIEW
We are blessed to have owned several De’Longhi espresso machines over the past few years. Each machine builds on the success of the prior models.
The LA SPECIALISTA ARTE has improved on prior year models in several important areas.
- It takes up less room on the counter (both height and width).
- The controls are better labeled with numbered dials.
- The manual is easier to read and understand.
- The grinder mechanism is improved, it is quieter and passes grounds directly into the portafilter.
- It is easier to customize the volume of liquid used in each drink
The LA SPECIALISTA ARTE brings you closer to the espresso making experience over fully automatic machines, by giving you control over several critical features, including, grind, dose, tamp pressure, and temperature. If you are adventurous, you can also go into advanced menu mode and change water volumes.
The steamer wand is super hot and super high pressure and it took several tries to get a nice foam. Compared to prior models, this was the hardest to learn.
INITIAL SETUP
The initial setup is straight forward. Give everything a rinse, then run a cycle of water only on each of the settings (Espresso, Americano, Water Only, Steam).
The longest part of any new espresso machine is “Dialing in” all the settings to produce the perfect espresso. This involves changing the grind settings and dose settings to match your bean and taste. For each new machine (or bean type) we usually go through about 1-2 pounds of beans over several hours until we are satisfied we have the best settings. A standard rule of thumb is that it should take about 27 seconds to pull a double shot from the first drip to the last drip. If you are too far away from this number, you can just toss the drink and start over. Once you get close, then you can start to do minor adjustments to your taste. The quick start guide gives you a starting point.
TIP: Read your bean package, for example even though you have espresso beans that does not mean you have “dark roast”. Our package of beans is black, which made us think we had dark roast, but upon reading the fine print we really had a medium roast. Once we started with the recommended medium settings, we got to the perfect cup much more quickly.
TIP: It is tempting to change many settings for each test, but we found it best to keep a log of each test, and change one variable at a time.
Now the fun part, each time you select a new flavor of bean you may have to do this all over again.
Once we find the perfect formula for that bean, we write it down and keep it with the machine. We tend to keep the same bean brand / type for about 3 months at a time.
SUMMARY
The LA SPECIALISTA ARTE produces a great cup of espresso or Americano coffee. Once dialed in, you get a consistent brew every time. We find the steamer harder to use than with prior models, but we will get there after some practice. The only issue is that the steamer is more powerful than prior models. The LA SPECIALISTA ARTE takes up less room on the shelf, which makes it nice to get back some counter space.

If you’re looking at a machine like this you either already know what you’re getting into or like me are an espresso novice. For the novices, it turns out making espresso is an art as much as it is a process. I actually found this machine somewhat intimidating as a result of my lack of knowledge and experience with this type of drink. Thankfully, it is genuinely easy to use, you just need to follow the quick start guide to the letter. After a few tries you start getting used to the process and are able to understand what it takes to customize your own drinks to your liking. The machine itself is beautifully designed, everything looks and feels quality and it has a relatively small footprint on the counter. I do wish it had an actual power button instead of using the OK button for power on and starting a brew in one button, and I understand wanting to keep the unit nice and clean looking by hiding the water tank on the back side but it makes refilling it much more difficult than necessary. Otherwise, it is top notch. It includes many accessories, cleaning tools, more than one filter size, the tamper and portafilter, a little rubber stand for them, and a mini pitcher for milk steaming. I was very surprised with how fast it does things, from grinding to steaming to brewing the espresso shots it’s all really quick. Most of the time spent using it is in the preparation and cleaning. Setting it up is fairly involved, requiring cleaning and priming the pieces and the machine, and following the instructions for determining your water hardness level. Once that’s all done it’s time to start brewing, and thankfully it also has detailed guides on how to best do so, with tips on what might be wrong it things don’t look right. I am enjoying experimenting with different drinks now that I have more options than a straight plain coffee at home. It a high end machine intended for the people who enjoy coffee and the art of making the perfect cup, and it does so beautifully.
