This Grill Does It All

Got my DeLonghi Livenza All-Day Electric Grill just in time as my griddle was on its last legs and the weather has been so awful for grilling outside. We put the grill to work right out of the box. Speaking of which, it's really well packaged and needs very little assembly to get it ready for use. My wife and I are huge fans of pancakes and this grill couldn't have been any easier to use. Set the digital temp and you're off an cooking. The controls are simple and easy to read and offer temperature select, timer, etc. The temperature was perfectly dispersed across the cooking plate and did a fantastic job on our pancakes.
With the removable cooking plates, cleanup is a snap. Simply wait for it to cool down and then take the griddle plate off and wash, no fuss..unlike trying to clean a griddle. There is plenty of space for cooking by folding the unit open and using both the top and bottom as cooking surfaces.
Next, we used it for grilling burgers inside as it's been rainy and windy outside. Set it up under our stove hood and put the grilling plate in place. We were really surprised as how evenly it cooked our burgers and pretty quickly as well. Again, cleanup was a breeze since the grill plate can be removed and washed separately.
Haven't had a chance to make paninis or try the cookbook app as of yet, but based on our initial experience with this grill I'm sure we'll be using it again this week!
Pros:
Easy to read and use controls
Multiple cooking tops for different foods
Removable cook plates for easy cleanup
Top-of-the-line construction and finishings
Cons:
Haven't found any as of yet!
If you're looking for a very versatile and compact electric cooker, look no further than the DeLonghi Livenza All-Day Electric Grill!

First off this grill is large and fairly heavy which to me is a good thing for a grill. It looks to be quality made. Aesthetically it looks great and fits in with my other kitchen appliances. The grill comes with four plates (grill and griddle). It can do paninis, lay flat top style, and even have the top stay right above your food broil style. The tops and bottom have separate temperature controls also. What I like the most is the grill is large enough to cook a whole family dinner at once.

The DeLonghi All-Day Grill System is a pleasant surprise. It is versatile, easy to use, and easy to clean up, making it a home run in our kitchen. The flexibility with the precise temperature controls allow me to use the grill for a lot of different cooking situations. I so far have successfully grilled perfect steaks, pressed paninis, grilled vegetables, and cooked bacon all with ease. The fact that the plates are removable allow for easy clean up. I also especially love that the grill can be left open and you have 2 full plates of grill space. To me that is the Major selling point, because it allows twice the grilling space. I would recommend this grill to anyone who's looking for an in home grill. It fits the bill and then some.

I have previously used other smaller table top electric grills and they work ok. This brings table top grills to a new level.
This unit allows you to individually set the temperature of the top and bottom grills. It also has a digital readout for both, so you know what temperature they are set at.
Also, I have never seen a table top grill that can open up and be used flat. the top can be opened and then you have twice the cooking area. What an awesome feature.
The next thing that blew me away was the broil feature. You can actually set the top grill at a couple different heights and use it to broil.
It comes with two sets of inserts. Both the smooth/flat grill and the raised grill for meats etc... They pop out easily for cleaning as well.
I would highly recommend this grill to anyone looking for an electric table top grill.

The Livenza all day grill is truly an awesome grill capable of just about anything. To talk about all the functions and abilities that are possible with this grill would take too much time. Instead i just want to focus on some of its key features to help decide if this is right for you. Out of the box you will receive two flat plates, two grill plates, an oil drip catch, scrapper, and griddle plates. Very little assembly is required and no tools are needed. This is my first true grill/press. In the past i've own other basic grills that you may have seen on t.v. but nothing truly compares to this grill. Lets talk about some of the features. First off you have a LCD digital display which gives you temperature readings and timer countdowns. Off to the right are your temperature controls for your plates. Once nice feature i like is the individual settings of each plate. Depending on your cooking style and type of food your making you can set the top plate temperature different from the bottom plate in order to insure thorough cooking. Another nice feature is the three cooking modes that are offered. You have Contact grill mode, broil grill mode and BBQ mode. Contact grill mode is just as the title suggest, the two plates make contact with both the top and bottom food that you are cooking. This makes quick work of simple snacks or foods such as grilled cheese sandwiches, Quesadillas, pancakes and much more. Broil grill mode allows you to lock the top plate into a hover position and allows the griller to be used much like an oven. Im not a fancy cook but i did find this feature was very nice when it came to making mini pizzas. Since the top plate never touches the food in this position you can easily set the temperature higher for more thorough and faster cooking. BBQ mode is a really nice feature, it allows you to lay the top plate completely on its back providing you with two cooking surfaces. This is great for when you need double the cooking space. Built in to the grill is a grease catch which drains into a oil catch allowing for healthier eating habits. One thing i did forget to mention about this grill that i did notice was the fact that it had an integrated heating element built in to the plates. The reason i bring this up is since there is no open flame and since the heating element isn't built directly in to the grill this helps to eliminate any hotspots and give you a more thorough and evenly cooked meal. Also Livenza provides you with an online app for iOS and Android in which they give you lots of cooking recipes and ideas for meal planning. If you like to cook without making a big mess or breaking out the BBQ grill the Livenza is definitely the way to go. Right out of the box you are going to see the quality and care that was put behind this.

Don't neglect the app!

This DeLonghi Livenza Grill comes with an app (What doesn’t these days?). Not one for using apps with appliances, I opted to wing it without the app.
Oops.
That proved to be a mistake. This grill has a lot of options and settings, and without the app you may find yourself floundering some.
I later downloaded the app off the Google Play Store and installed it on my android phone. I found it a little worrisome that this app needed to know my identity and needed access to my photos. The app itself is useful though. You select the type of item that you’re looking to cook, answer a handful of questions about your specific piece (type of cut, size, etc . . .), and it gives you cooking instructions including temperatures and cooking times for that piece.
The grill comes with flat skillet plates and grill plates. The plates are well-constructed and remove and install easily. The plates and grease tray are both dishwasher safe, which is a huge bonus, in my mind. However, the plastic cleaning tool that comes with this grill is a joke. It’s a thin piece of poorly machined plastic with little plastic filaments coming off of it at the edges. Mine was already warped out of the box.
The instructions warn not to use this tool on the grill while the grill is hot as excessive heat may melt the tool. I would go further and add that this tool probably shouldn’t even be near the grill while it’s operational lest it melt into a puddle of plastic on your counter. I opted not to use the cleaning tool at all, and I let the grill cool completely and used a soft non-abrasive cloth to clean it instead. It took some vigorous scrubbing, but the grill seems to have cleaned off nicely.
The grill doesn’t come with any cooking utensils. The instructions clearly state not to use any metal tools with this grill (always a good rule of thumb with non-stick surfaces), so I opted to use a silicone spatula.
I don’t like cooking with oil because of the high fat and cholesterol content, and I was surprised that the instructions recommended liberally oiling various meats for best results. One of the big selling points of contact grilling has always been that it’s healthier and drains off more fats and oils than other cooking methods. This instruction seemed to fly in the face of that.
I used a modest amount of olive oil spray while cooking, and my food turned out okay. I’m relieved to report that the olive oil spray did not seem to have any negative impact on the grill plate. I’d had some concern about it burning in and leaving a permanent gunk stain on the plate the way some cooking sprays do.
I was surprised by the amount of moisture coming out of the front of this grill. I’d assumed that all of the drippings and the like would exhaust out of the back. That being said, I experienced a significant amount of condensation on the front of the grill. Given how cleanly it cleaned up, I suspect that this was just water vapor; but I thought it worth mentioning as it did catch me by surprise.
I’m fairly happy with this grill and the app that comes with it. I would recommend this grill to a friend.

This is an amazing grill that is hugely convenient for cooking in the house in a healthy way. Similar to other grills of the same style, but with much better controls and a much nicer look for the house. The grill goes all the way up to 450 degrees and has the option of opening up completely to function similar to a BBQ and also has the ability to sear your meat. Easy to clean, easy to use, and easy to assemble and disassemble. This is the grill to get for your house.

We have had other brands of electric grills that performed well for the price, size, low expectations. While they cooked the food the cleanup was a pain and the food was usually a little on the dry side. It seemed like it took too long to cook the food to the desired doneness. (New word created for this review, TM pending)
My first recommendation, download the app from your favorite app store, unless you have a Windows phone, there isn't a app listed for it. There are a few different apps available for iOS and Android, I recommend at a minimum to get the Livenza Grill app. It will let you know what temp to set the grill at and how to configure it. Search for DeLonghi and quite a list will be available. The Grill app is the must have though.
The recipe app is OK but very limited. Still some decent ideas in it.
The food turns out perfect and quickly. The first thing we made were pancakes. Usually my wife will make 2-3 pancakes at a time, so one person eats every few minutes and she slaves over the stovetop the whole time. With the grill open flat, she was able to use both sides and pumped out a dozen medium sized pancakes all at one time.
As for my part, beyond eating, cleanup was a simple process. I popped the removable griddle plates out, wiped them off and put them in the dish washer. The plates, spatula and grease catcher are all dishwasher safe.
Possibly the most impressive thing, the pancakes that were not taken from the stack were still hot after I ate my first batch.
Simply put, our first go round with the grill was outstanding.
This would be fantastic for a college dorm room, a small efficiency apartment, mobile home/camper to the largest kitchen on the block. If you find one stove top is not enough, this is cheaper than a kitchen remodel.
A few neat features that I have not seen in other grills:
This has a oven mode. You can bake a frozen pizza (or home made pizza) in the oven mode. Basically the two plates can be configured so there is about a 3-4 inch gap between them. You set the lower plate to 450 F and the upper to 350 F. I am looking forward to trying this out.
The other modes are the Closed and Open. Closed allows cooking both sides at once and Open is the griddle mode I spoke of earlier. Open allows cooking more stuff at once, closed cooks less but quicker. Oven is just cool...or hot in this case.
There are interchangeable plates as well. You receive two griddle plates (top and bottom) and two grill plates (grooves to allow grease to drain and make the cool sear marks in the food). Also there are spatulas designed for the griddle or grill and a grease/drainage catcher.
In conclusion, this is a great grill that is very versatile and easy to clean. Probably the best addition to the kitchen since the dishwasher. The build quality is top notch, and I think it looks pretty cool on the counter. Wife likes it put in the cabinet when not in use. Maybe after it becomes a daily use item she will like how it looks in the open too. :D Recommended +100

A Kitchen Appliance that's Fun to Use

I received this DeLonghi Livenza All-Day Grill model# CGH1020D through Best Buy’s Tech Insider Network in exchange for an honest review.
I have to say that this was one of the most fun product evaluations I’ve ever done. This grill is very well made and is an absolute pleasure to use. After nearly a month with four different adults using it (one is a bit of a gourmet chef) I am able to heartily recommend it. It takes some learning at first, but the results are worth your effort.
Over the last month, I figured out why DeLonghi named it the “All-Day Grill”. It is well suited to making dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and many snacks in-between. It really is an amazingly versatile appliance.
NOTE: The CGH1020D model I received doesn’t include the waffle plates that are included in the model CGH1030D. The waffle plates are an option that I will be ordering. Keep this difference in mind if you purchase one of these grills.
I’m not going to repeat all the features of this grill, when you can read that information in many other places. What I am going to say is that I’ve never encountered a better way to cook bacon strips than between its grill plates using the Contact Press grilling mode. The bacon is quickly and evenly cooked on both sides at the same time, all the while keeping the strips flat and allowing the drippings to drain into the drip reservoir underneath the grill. It actually cooks bacon in half the time of a frying pan. Frankly, I think there’s no better reason to own one of these grills than for making perfect bacon…especially with BLT season right around the corner.
If you buy one, spend some time experimenting with some assorted, cheap, grilled sandwiches while you learn the settings. You’ll have some failures like my first grilled cheese sandwich that ended up being overcooked and squeezed out to the size of a dinner plate. After that, I decided I’d better read the manual on how to use this grill.
But you’ll have many, many successes. In one month, we’ve mastered pancakes, eggs, steaks, shrimp, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, po-boys, Ruebens, shish-kabobs (OMG were they good!), all kinds of grilled sandwiches, lots of grilled vegetables like cherry tomatoes carrots potatoes onions mushrooms and peppers, tuna boats, pizza, reheated pizza (much better than a microwave), and even grilled Spam! Yes, they still make it and yes it’s very good grilled in this grill.
We especially like grilling cherry tomatoes and then dropping them all warm and squishy into a chilled spinach salad.
I do have one negative to report and that is we had one of the little rubber feet come out from under the grill during the first week. Fortunately, I found it quickly and slipped it back in place. The feet just slip in and can easily slip back out of place if the grill is slid across a counter top. A little adhesive holds them nicely, but that’s something the DeLonghi engineers need to look at.

I wanted to upgrade from that popular electric grill and I found this all day electric grill. So far I cooked burgers, chicken, paninis and some vegetables and it's been great. The plates are easy to clean since they are removable. I like th way that you can open up the top and make it double space to grill a lot of food and you can adjusted at different tempetures. This grill is made heavy duty so it's kind of heavy and hard to storage in your kitchen, so you have to find a space in your kitchen counter. The only problem i have was that the grease tray didn't captured most of the liquid on the back when I grilled meat but nothing major, most of it when inside the tray. The only thing this grill needs is a stand so you can use it outside like in the porch or patio to have an outdoor cook out.

I like panini, pancakes, and grilled burgers and chicken, so I decided to get the DeLonghi — Livenza All-Day Electric Grill. I am glad I did. With its 4 grill plates and the grease pan, there are several parts to assemble, but the instruction manual is straightforward, and everything fit together easily on my first try. After giving the grill plates an initial cleaning, I started cooking. The manual warns that there might be an odor the first time each set of grill plates is used, and there was, but only that first use. I am new to this type of cooking, so I have had a bit of a learning curve, but just a bit. I’ve put the grill through its paces, and everything has been delicious.
Positives:
Panini and other grilled sandwiches come out crisp, not soggy, and very evenly cooked. The result is every bit as good as a good deli or sandwich shop.
The grill plates are so easy to clean. Cooked-on cheese and other stuff just slides off when I put a plate under a hot faucet. I haven’t put the plates in the dishwasher, not only because I don’t want to risk damaging the non-stick surface, but because I haven’t wanted to use dishwasher space for something that’s so easy and quick to clean by hand.
The self-adjusting hinges also can be manually adjusted (Flex Press), so the amount of pressure is up to you. You can even let the top plate hover to get a broil or top-brown effect.
It’s heavy enough to be stable and feel substantial, but still is easy to pick up and move around.
No flipping! No matter how careful I am, I can never get a multi-ingredient sandwich (e.g., Reuben) to flip over without messing it up. With two grill surfaces, that problem is gone.
The grill can be opened up flat, either to use both sides or just to get one side out of the way while you use the other. That also lets you cook two types of foods at the same time without having them mingle with each other — and even set different temperatures.
Negatives:
Some reviewers wish it had a longer cord. However, the cord is as long as the cords on all my other kitchen appliances, and it easily reaches both my under-cabinet power strip and the outlet on the side of my kitchen island.
This is a fairly big device. However, if it was smaller it couldn’t do all of the things that it does.
Bottom line: A good addition to my kitchen that already has me cooking more and eating out less.

Grill is very easy to use and this model comes with two sets of grill plates (missing the waffle plates that come with the next model up) so there are many options for cooking. The two plates each have their own temperature settings, so you can cook two completely different foods at the same time with it in the open position.
There are really many different positions since the plates can be set to cook in the closed position or can be set to several levels of thickness for sandwiches and other foods or they can be completely open and used as a large cook surface. Very flexible and is what makes this truly an all day grill.
The grease trap is large and does a great job catching overflow whether the grill is used open or closed since both plates empty right into it. The included scraper does an excelent job getting stuck on food loose so the rest can be wiped clean. The plates (obviously) remove and can be placed in the dishwasher for cleaning. There is also a latch to keep the lid closed while transporting and the top has a handle that works well for carrying.
I expected the app to be a gimick, but was really surprised by how useful it was. It has an almost over-simple start screen that hides all the features included. It will definitely not be too difficult for even younger cooks to get the basics down for their favorite foods. My only disappointment here was the terminology that some cuts of meat are called is nothing like I have ever heard in my life! I have to look some of them up, which I guess could be called a plus since I am expanding my vocabulary while I make my food!
I am looking forward to cooking many more things with this than we can with our flat griddle, we are finding more and more uses for it all the time. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get a grill or griddle since it has so many uses in such a small footprint. As I write this, we are camping and brought our All-day grill with us since it folds up much smaller than out griddle we normally bring to cook bacon and pancakes.

Great Grill, Sturdy, Large, Rem. griddles, tricky

This grill is very nice. It has a large cook space(s) with flat pan or grill pan option. It has a single open grill, closed panini, closed broil, or open double grill options (doubling the space).
It seems very versatile and the heating seems even. You can also individually control the temperature of each plate. This unit comes with the 4 plates (2 grill, 2 flat), main grill unit, drip tray, and cleaning tool (flat/slotted edges) Optional units have the waffle plate.
It cooks well and can take the place of stove top, oven/broiler, grill. The cook space is about 12"x18" each side.
The heating element is in the pans so they heat more evenly but must be clipped into the base. This requires you to line up the contacts on the bottom side of the pan (not too difficult but may take more than one try).
Some cool features:
The grill plates have independent temp control. You can turn the top off or a lower temp.
The top can be open 90deg for non use, closed over bottom for panini style cooking (with a lower or same temp), closed over but not touching for oven/broil style cooking (with lower or off temp to keep heat in)
Full open to use two grills at same or different temps (i,e veggies on one side, chicken on the other).
I am still figuring out the knobs and releases on the side that allow all these functions (just read the manual and it's easy to figure out)
Plates are removable to wash separately in sink (so you don't have to handwash the entire unit all together). I don't believe they are dishwasher safe though.
Some of my issues are the following:
Drip slots at back of grill don't always direct liquid into tray. There is dripping and condensation that occur along the entire back of the pan (most makes it to the tray). So prepare to do a little wipe up.
On/Off Controls are unusual. When you turn the unit on, it does not stay on unless you hold down the power button to 'confirm' use. Otherwise it shuts off in a minute or so. There is also a timer you can set. Once the timer goes off so does the unit shortly after, you will have to turn it back on again. Basically, don't leave the unit unattended for long when you first start using it. It may take a while to figure out it's on/off nuances. If you don't use the timer it shuts off in 90 minutes.
It's large which is good, but tough to store anywhere unless you want to leave out on you high-demand counter.

A Bit Pricey, But Delivers On Features

For years, I've had a Foreman grill, which, for what it is, works well and is priced friendly. This DeLonghi is significantly more expensive than that particular grill, but it provides a number of features and a vast amount of flexibility to make the increased cost worth it.
My favorite feature of this grill is the adjustable hinge. This allows for two awesome grilling modes beyond the normal press mode: one where you can have the grill completely open so you have two separate grill surfaces (which makes the independently adjustable temperature settings for each grate a key feature) and one where you can have the top plate elevated. This gives you the ability to make grilled sandwiches, grill your meat on one side and grill your toppings/buns on the other, etc. Also, the removable grates allow you to switch between a flat surface and a grill surface, which provides a great deal of flexibility (especially awesome in the open position). Finally, build quality seems top notch. The hinge system is rock solid and I don't foresee having any issues long term using the elevation feature. Overall, the only negative to me is the price.
If you're willing to spend the money, this is a great grill. It's definitely worth a premium over cheaper models because of the wealth of grilling options and features.

The DeLonghi Livenza All Day Grill
Included with the grill are removable plates- 1 set of griddle plates, 1 set of grill plates, grease tray, waffle dosing cup, cleaning tool, and instructions. There is also a waffle plate accessory that was not included but available. There is a free DeLonghi recipe app that coordinates with the grill.
There are many options when using the grill. There are 4 positions of height for the upper plate. You can close the grill to make sandwiches, paninis, burgers, meat and veggies. You can use it totally open to grill or BBQ, make pancakes, eggs and bacon or veggies and meat. There is also a broiler mode to use on sandwiches, flatbreads, and crostini. Each plate has a separate temperature control for exact and efficient cooking that is displayed on a digital screen. There is also a timer for each plate.
The grill is quite large. I have a large kitchen with many cabinets and I still had to do some shifting to find room to store this appliance. The plates are easy to remove to interchange or wash. The hardest part is getting the temperature set correctly according to what I'm cooking. This is no little George Foreman that I'm used to cooking on. This is a highly professional grill and makes some serious sandwiches.

I received the Delonghi electric grill as part of the Best Buy tech insider network. I am currently using this grill with my camper and will be taking it to Montana and Utah on a 2 week camping trip. The grill works extremely well for what I am using it for. My wife and I have cooked bacon, burgers and grilled cheese as well as omlets on the Delonghi grill. You can use the top and bottom griddle or just one. The griddle allows you to set what temperature you want and seems to hold that temperature very well. We have been very please with how the grill works and how well it cooks food. We will be tent camping the west and will use this grill as our only grill for the trip. (We have electric in our tent sites) after this trip I will have a better feel for durability, but I believe it will do fine for our trip. I think this is a nice grill for cooking small quantities or frying bacon. It is a little expensive, thus the 4 stars, but it is very nice.

I couldn't wait to get this unit out of the box; I used it to grill the same day I received it. I went to the grocery store and got what they call "pub patties" (approx. 1.25# hamburger patties that they sell in the fresh meat case) and some onion hamburger buns. The unit is of very solid constructions and super easy to set up. It comes with both grill plates and griddle plates. You can mix and match them as you need for whatever you are cooking. It has multiple modes; a grill mode, a "BBQ" mode, where the unit opens completely flat for a larger surface for cooking, and a broil mode. I used the grill plates in the grill mode. One of the really neat features of this unit is that there is an app that is specific to this model that tells you how to cook things. When you open the app, you choose your type of meat (beef, chicken, etc.), how much meat you are cooking, and it will tell you what mode to use, and how long to cook it for. It even has a timer you can use and it will ring even if you have the phone on vibrate (as I did). The app told me to cook the burgers on the Sear setting for 7 minutes. I did give the burgers another minute or so and they were done perfectly - well done and juicy. I then used the grill to warm the buns. The next day, I cooked beef kabobs. They came out great, but you'll need to be careful - the weight of the top plate cause the kabob in the front to nearly shoot out of the front. That is the only negative experience (if you can call it that) I've had so far. The plates are dishwasher safe, making for easy cleanup.

I have only used one other type of indoor grill - George Foreman. This grill is so much better - much easier to clean, and it seems to cook very evenly - my Foreman had issues with that. I highly recommend this grill if you want to grill indoors :) I still prefer an outdoor charcoal grill for taste, but this is healthier and the best choice for indoors.

Things like this have been around for a while, but this unit packs a lot of features that I have personally never had and I really like. The removable grills that are dishwasher safe are great for quick cleanup, for example.
For actual cooking, I like that it opens completely flat if you don't need to cook on both sides. Of course, for two sided cooking, it literally cuts your time in half. You can "grill" things with it or just make some Paninis. My wife loves broiling things for a minute or two at the end of cooking and with other indoor grills we've had, that wasn't an option. But this has a broil option. I haven't tried it, but you can even make pizza on this. And the inclusion of the flat places means that you can make pancakes or anything else that you want that needs a flat surface.
The app companion is a great thing as well. Don't forget about it. It's not life changing, but is helpful. Also, think about using this in different situations. If you have power, you can take this camping, or to the park and not use community grills. I would highly recommend this.

First things first...this unit is an absolute beast. By that, I mean it is HEAVY. Definitely not something that feels cheaply made. The styling is great and blends well with my other counter-top appliances. At first I opted to try to use this without downloading the app, but some of the settings can get a bit confusing, so I downloaded the app and things went swimmingly from there. The warm up time is very acceptable and there is a wide range of temperature settings depending on what you're cooking. I've been very impressed with the versatility of this machine as it can go from a griddle for pancakes to a press grill for burgers to a broiler for whatever within a matter of seconds. The dishwasher-safe cooking grates pop in and out easily, making clean up a breeze. The included "cleaning tool" is pretty well a waste and it seems like it would melt if it came close to anything hot, so I've opted against using it. Take some time to read the manual, get the app, and familiarize yourself with the settings and you'll find yourself looking for reasons to cook on this thing. I'm contemplating ordering the waffle plates to round out the potential uses for it.
--I knocked a star off for the learning curve, the fact that an app is nearly mandatory to understand all the features and the sheer heft of this unit which makes it less than portable, especially since I plan to keep it in a cabinet when not in use rather than sitting out all the time.
