If Only It Cooked Faster

The DeLonghi MultiFry can cook a multitude of foods. It can act as a fryer, an oven, and, in some cases, even a stove top. Many foods, namely frozen, require no oil, and those that do only require about a tablespoon, and it's good to see that—many air fryers do not have the ability to cook with oil because of their open base. With the bowl's ceramic coating, clean-up is super easy. The viewing window gives you a glimpse of your food without having to open it. It comes with detachable timer, completing the comprehensive cooking experience. The included cookbook contains a decent selection of meals to cook with the multi-cooker.
So you want to cook something that requires tending to most of the time or every few minutes. You need to stir your stir-fry, and you need to make sure your meatballs are cooking evenly and thoroughly. You don't have to do that with this multi-cooker as it has a stirring paddle. When needed, the paddle snaps into the base of the bowl and is powered by the multi-cooker. I did find that initially the paddle is difficult to remove for when you don't need it, but after a few removals, it became easier. An important note is that if you make only a small portion of food that needs mixing, the paddle is almost useless and will push food in a circle rather than mix it.
Now onto some issues. This multi-cooker is bulky, though there is almost no way around this because of the amount of food that it can potentially cook as well as its surround cooking system. It's large and takes up a lot of counter and storage space. If size is a priority for you, I'd highly recommend the smaller model or even an entirely different fryer. The power is controlled by a dial labeled with simple numbers rather than temperatures. This requires referencing the closest food item with the included manual or cookbook, and constant referencing becomes tedious. But the biggest issue this multi-cooker suffers from is the amount of time it takes to cook several foods. While a standard fryer takes a few minutes to cook a batch of fries, for instance, the DeLonghi MultiFry can take 35 minutes for an equal-size batch. This is the obvious trade-off for no-oil cooking. Still, it's a drastic difference, and if quicker food is more important than healthier food, I'd reconsider this multi-cooker.
Overall, the DeLonghi MultiFry is a useful appliance. It can cook a variety of foods, and large amounts of them compared to some other air fryers. I enjoy using it for many foods that don't take too long, especially if I'm cooking something else that takes about the same amount of time to finish. While I'd recommend it, it does have a few subjective hoops to jump through.

A great device for light frying or cooking. It's amazing how good fried foods taste with so little oil. Everything is cooked evenly and completely, and cleanup is generally simple.
This one's a simple choice - if you want to eat more healthfully without giving up things like french fries, you need look no further.

Right out of the box this cooker has a very high quality look and feel. It even includes a hardcover cookbook with recipes which is very nice. The instructions are a bit long but once you figure it out you are cooking in no time.
You must set the level of power, turn bottom element on or off, then power on. That's it. The instructions make it seem much more difficult. This is because you have to make sure you add food before you power on as there is no pre-heating necessary.
I added a bag of frozen veggies and about 3/4lb of frozen shrimp and powered it on. I then added some tomato sauce and spices as the cooker automatically stirred it.
There is a timer built in for you to set and you just have to monitor it to make sure it's done.
Once it was done...delicious!! Super easy and food was great tasting. Then you only wash the dish it cooks in and the lid. No pots and pans, no boiling water and no oven. We all loved it!
I highly recommend this for families who like an alternative to crock pots and like like dishes fast and efficient.

Great Product but NOT a time saver

So far I've only used this to make french fries and hash browns. While it is great that you can make potato based items from frozen with little to no additional oil, what you save on oil you give up on time. Instead of deep frying these things in a few minutes, it takes 20 - 45 minutes to make the same item with little to no oil. So you have to choose whether or not its worth the time saving. If you do fried foods a lot, this will be great for your health, but if you're like me and rarely do fried foods, then this may not be the device for you.

Good But Not Great Cooker

This is a sleek-shaped air fryer with a good size basket that accommodates an optimal quantity of food to cook in this multi-cooker. I really liked that all of its feet are coated with non-skid surfaces that make it really solid on my granite counter top. I have seen air fryer/cookers sold on QVC and they all use degrees for cooking versus power levels, 1-4 in this case, and they also have timers that shut off the cooking process once done, while this one does not. That is a bummer to me because if I am somewhere in the house doing something else, the food will continue to cook and possibly, overcook. The timer is built into the main chassis, but is detachable to take with you, however it would be better if it turned itself off.
Additionally, the motor is fairly loud while cooking, but I do not know what others sound like in comparison. I first cooked hamburgers and then I roasted potatoes with mushrooms. The paddle is not helpful while cooking the meat, but I liked the paddle for the potatoes as it continually mixes the ingredients to, I assume, facilitate even cooking. I did rely on the cooking recommendation insert in the box that had instructions for the type of food being cooked, but I will need to experiment with that because I feel that it might have led to some of the food being overcooked. The clear plastic window does get hot so beware. I figure they put that window on so you can see the food while it cooks, but it might not be the best design element.

Right off the bat I'd like to let you know that if you are expecting something that works like a traditional deep fryer, this is not for you. I was excited to start using this as is was supposed to be a healthier alternative to traditional deep frying methods. I tried to make something easy, so I started with French fries. It did what it was supposed to do except I wasn't really all that impressed with the taste. After that, I attempted to do battered chicken, it was awful. Like I said, this isn't like a traditional deep fryer at all. So don't expect things to come out deep fried. The rotating paddle on the inside of the machine is supposed to just pull off but we struggled getting it to come off. It's not as user friendly as I would have liked. Easy to clean, that was a plus. I guess it's just something you have to keep using and get used to. I'm going to try a few more things but right now I'm just not all that impressed.

We've been looking into air fryers for a while now to have a healthier and less messy way to deep fry potatoes, shrimp, veggies, etc. This machine does a great job on potatoes! Made both frozen and fresh French fries. It was super easy to do and they came out great! I also made tortilla chips just by cutting up tortillas and throwing them in the machine. The really awesome part is that it also cooks. We made roasted vegetables just by cutting them up and dumping them in the machine with a little oil and garlic salt, and they came out really good. Highly recommended for ease of use, less mess than oil fryers, and easy cleanup.

Kitchen counter space is a premium commodity in my household. This Multifryer is definitely not a permanent fixture on my counter top, however it is great to cook some mixed veggies while paying attention to other dishes. I normally steam my veggies, however the mixing paddle and solo operation of the multifryer has definitely saved time. It is just so huuuuuuge !

Very anxious to try this product. Just received it today and tried store bought frozen french fries tonight. No oil needed and they cooked in about 15 minutes. We normally cook these fries in the oven and they are good but some are not crisp and definitely not like deep fried. These fries were all crisp and tasted much more like deep fried. Couldn't be happier and can't wait to try other things in the fryer.

The DeLonghi Multi Fry is an amazing cooking machine. We were interested in the device by way of the versatility it offers. Our first attempt was french fries. We followed the directions and we were amazed how good they were. Then we tried rice the next evening and it was better than anything we've cooked on the stovetop. There are plenty of websites with different recipe ideas for the Multi Fry. Just in our first few days, we know this machine will be used a lot in our kitchen. We highly recommend it!

Works well with most anything you put in there, simple to use and easy to clean. Handles medium sized chicken breast but if you buy them from bulk retailers you'll need to cut the breast down a bit to fit

I got this to allow me to fry with minimal oil but found that this could be used for much more. First of all, my fried chicken came out more like baked chicken so that was little disappointing, but when I realized I could use this much like a slow cooker, that made up for it. I prepared a stew and slow cooked several cuts of meat and the results were good. I am happy with the unit and will be modifying my chicken recipe to get better results.

This thing is wonderful! Normally anything I do that is breaded is always greasy no matter I do, but not with this. Browns wonderfully and makes great frys. I have tried a few things from the book that is included and they all came out great.

Overall a decent cooker, I could not give it more than 3 stars because it is not that easy to use and the California proposition 65 disclaimer is a big drawback. Also, since this is my first cooker of this sort, I cannot 100% compare of the food taste better than other cookers.

Worst Design Ever The Lid Motor Is A Bad Idea

This multi Fryer is the worst design. The customer service is awful. Received it as a house warming gift from a relative and they refused to warranty the product. The lid motor stopped working after 6 months and is a common problem.
