I was excited to start making my own ice cream at home. It looked like a decent machine, and decided to give it a shot. First batch of basic vanilla came out fine, tasted great, although it never really got very thick. Instruction book says to expect it to be the consistency of custard. OK, first strike. So, I placed it in the freezer to get it to harden up to more than a slightly thicker version of a ice cream milk shake. Not a bad first attempt though, and did taste like vanilla ice cream. Yesterday, I get the wife all excited for an attempt at mocha chocolate chip. Well, 15 minutes into it, the motor burns out. You can smell the burned electronic type smell, and it won't come on. Well, that batch was ruined, never really got to any point of near frozen. Stuck it in the freezer, but it was disgusting. Texture was that of a half gallon of melted ice cream, that was refrozen... pretty much what I expected, but hated just throwing it all out. It's going back as soon as the store opens.
