I had a Denon that was about 12 years old and upgraded to this receiver. The nice thing is that it is compliant with HDCP 2.2 encoding which is very important for the soon-to-be released 4K blu-rays. The sounds is fantastic. Dolby Atmos adds another layer to watching blu-rays. It is very much worth the upgrade, especially if you haven't upgraded in a while. The technology has really changed.

Still going through all of it's capability, but this unit works very well as the center piece in a home entertainment system. Lots of automated features and it has plenty of power to drive many speakers.

I purchased this received to replace a 14 yr old Sony, which is still good, but has no hdmi and wifi. It has non of the bells and whistles this has, but the amount of power I get from that Sony, which is 110 watts is 10 times More than what I get from this denon. This receiver is nothing, but a disappointment. There are better and cheaper ones out there than this. I never had to open my Sony pass 30, but i do more than 60 to get what the Sony delivers at 20. this is over priced considering its performance.

This receiver has a bunch of bells and whistles and has a clean and bright sound. I have it integrated with a home automation system and it works perfectly to provide video and sound for all of my sources. the Audessy setup required tweaking to get the sound to my personal tastes, but overall everything has been satisfactory so far.

I am currently using this receiver to power two MartinLogan Motion 60xt tower speakers, a Motion 50 center, and four Motion FX surrounds. It can easily push these power hungry speakers to comfortably high levels without overheating or clipping. I highly recommend this receiver.
