    Handy Receiver

This receiver is mostly easy to use and provides a good number of inputs/outputs. I bought it because it is in a good price range and is capable of 5.4 Atmos, plus allows for Dolby Vision. The menus are a bit clunky and not very intuitive. Another feature that would benefit the unit is to have a button for all HDMI inputs; instead you have to use arrow keys to switch to inputs that don't have a button. The calibration is fairly straight forward and seems pretty accurate.

This receiver sounds great with movies. I have Klipsch dual 6.5" front speakers, in ceiling 8", rear 4.5" and a single 12" sub in a small to medium size living room and this receiver is perfect. I can crank it loud without distortion. The auto calibrate works decent if you don't like to mess with it but if you take the time you can definitely tune it better manually. Price point this can't be beat.

I got this primarily for listening to vinyl records. But its many inputs do invite total home theater. I connected it to Klipsch towers with a powered subwoofer. I needed Denon support to advise me that to get the subwoofer to work I had to manually configure the speakers to be "Small". If I configured them as "Large" the system assumes that the two speakers can do all the heavy lifting. When I selected "Small" the subwoofer kicked in and I chose crossovers and volume. Denon customer support for this problem impressed me. You can configure either on TV screen or on the front panel using the remote. Press Enter when the triangles appear on a selection to Save that selection.

Almost didn't purchase Denon after previous S910SW receiver failed after four years. However, got a recommendation to buy this one. Simpler than the 910 without upscaling but with up to 4K passthrough, am hoping that means a longer life. Had to manually adjust Audyssey settings due to too much subwoofer and surround but sound seems to be good now. If this one fails early, Sony would be my next choice.

I decided to upgrade my home stereo system mainly because my previous receiver didn't have Bluetooth or Dolby ATMOS. I narrowed in my search to the Denon because of they are known as a quality brand and part of the Marantz family. Installation was a breeze. I connected my TV to the optical in on the reciever since I use ARC HDMI interface with a soundbar for my day to day viewing. I do however switch to surround sound when watching a show or movie with serious special effects or I want more immersion. I do have a small 7" IPS touchscreen I use occasionallly for a Raspberry Pi monitor so I plugged that screen into the HDMI output of the Denon so I can have an easy display of customization and other settings of the receiver. Works like a champ. I've got some great replacement front and center channel speakers coming but I did go to Best Buy and grabbed a pair of the Bowers and Wilkins 100W satellite speakers for my rear surround sound speakers with the new receiver. One of the features I love is the ability to customize the inputs through the onscreen menu. Most will be able to use as is but it's still nice to change... example, the TV input is defaulted to ARC HDMI but I wanted to use optical so it was an easy switch in settings. I do have a bunch of vinyl so it was really important that the receiver support a phono input and fortunately my turntable had a selectable output so when I first plugged it in the volume was non-existant but a flip of the switch on the back of the turntable corrected the issue. I did find the unit with a better price at Costco but Best Buy matched the price upon request. A week later Best Buy put the receiver on sale for even cheaper so I went back to Best Buy and they credited me the difference. Awesome customer support by Best Buy! Very pleased with the purchase and can't wait for my replacement speakers to come in.

My new Denon Receiver works perfectly as a replacement for my older Denon receiver which was damaged by lightening. More importantly, the Geek Squad personnel, especially Phillip Schwandt, were exceptional! Phillip is brilliant with technology, thoroughly knowledgeable and totally customer focused during the installation of my receiver and restoration of my surround sound system. He is exeptional at what he does and a definite asset to the Geek Squad and Best Buy!

If you're a hardcore audiophile, look elsewhere. But if your space wasn't designed as a listening room and you just need good value in a home theater setup, the Denon AVR-S750 is a solid choice. Don't be put off by Denon's consistently 1980's arcade graphics setup screens. Be glad they put the money into stable power supplies and clean audio. As of summer 2020 this unit (released 2019) is still available.

Really liking this so far. Purchased to get 7.1 and support for Dolby Atmos. My home theater sounds more like a commercial theater now, though the fam doesn't always appreciate me rattling the upstairs :). I love the Audyssey setup with the mic that automatically sets volume levels per channel. It did a great job and sound is very balanced now. I do wish the built-in HEOS app integrated with personal Amazon playlists, but that's probably Amazon's fault.

Good receiver. Audio quality is superb. Good thing is that I am able to configure it to sound just how I like it -- that's what matters in the end I guess. No distortion at loud volume, and very clear at low volume as well. Please consider upgrading the firmware as soon as you get one. HEOS integration is quite functional; works well with Alexa and HomeAssistant.
