This is such an improvement over my old equipment. I love the clarity of the sound and while I'm still learning the different audio modes, I find it pretty easy to move around without getting lost. This was at the top end of my budget, but I'm glad I stepped up.

Easy understood plug -n-play. The quality of sound because of the Audyssey Microphone for sound calibration is outrageous! It puts my Sony receiver to shame. I do not regret purchasing Denon. Especially with all the extras that are built in the Denon I bought.

Great replacement for the slightly defective X3700 we tried from open box. Best Buy was great to work with and helped me with the exchange/return to get the 3800. Great receiver. Heos is awesome. great power. very satisfied so far. Replaced an old Denon 3310ci receiver. what a difference!

We bought this Denon X3800H receiver as an upgrade from a 2014 Pioneer Elite 5.1, two channel receiver as we wanted surround sound for video streaming services, DVDs, 2 video game systems, and musics apps controlled through our phones, and to power 2 other rooms in-wall speaker pairs with stereo for music. TotalTech came and installed it yesterday, so this is a 'first impression' review. It was set up, configured and tuned in about 90 minutes and I'm really pleased with the rich sound. My speakers sound better! Tested Spotify, DVDs, Youtube, Disney+ (Andor - sound is awesome!)...all so excellent. Haven't tested video games yet. I'm really impressed so far!

I picked this up for a family member building out their first home theater. They wanted the room to grow out their speaker setup to 7.2.2, and wanted the option for the latest and greatest room correction software. If you're in this boat, keep reading. The X3800H hits a great price point, offering practically all the features of more expensive AVRs - even Dirac Active Room Treatment - currently exclusive to an AV processor that costs more than 5x more than this - will be coming to the X3800H by 2026 (at the time of writing). There's plenty of super clean power on tap, it's easy to set up, it sounds great, and the network-based control works perfectly. If you're not ready to upgrade to Dirac just yet, I highly recommend downloading the mobile app to give you more advanced control over the room calibration process.

    Awesome unit with some bugs

The unit seems to have an issue properly displaying 4k120 over the zone2 output which is slightly inconvenient for me. Could be a bigger problem for others. Also have had issues with Bluetooth audio dropping out constantly but picks back up instantly when I press the source button?? It's the weirdest glitch. Otherwise this unit is awesome and impressive and worth it if you can snag it with 2 year financing for 1200 bucks like I did. This seems to be the most value for a unit that supports 11 channel 7.4.4 processing to take advantage of the widest available home audio.

Hello. Thank you for your feedback. It is much appreciated. To address your concerns - the AVR-X3800H's Zone 2 HDMI output is limited to 4K (as shown in the labeling of this port). To achieve a 4K/120Hz feed, an 8K port is required, which is where the Main Zone HDMI output ports come into play (Monitor One and Monitor Two).
With Bluetooth, there can be a number of reasons for reception glitches: Interference from other electronic/digital circuitries and various wireless feeds in that vacinity can be problematic for the Bluetooth receiver and/or transmitter, as well as distance from the original Bluetooth source.
Optional aftermarket Bluetooth receivers/transmitters can be added to any AVR using a digital or an analog connection. Not being immediately surrounded by digital processing circuitry or a large transformer found within an AVR can help with improving Bluetooth reception for an external unit. denon

Wanted a receiver I could grow with as I currently have a 5.1 system. I hooked it up and it sounded really good. Then I did some digging and applied Dynamic EQ and this thing blew my mind! By far the BEST sounding surround I have ever heard in my system. It's amazing. Trust you have to have a great source (I'm using APPLE TV) that is sending a great 5.1 or better signal. Upmixing stereo isn't bad either. Totally worth the extra $$$.. Time to get some height and back surround speakers! Oh and the 8k pass through, not an issue at all, works great!

Awesome receiver. So many great functions. I have in ceiling speakers so I use zone 2 for music, easily controlled from Spotify app on my phone. Easy to use. High quality item. I have used Yamaha and high end pioneer receiver and this blows them away in quality.

First off, thanks to my expert installation technician, Michael; he installed and setup my Denon AVR X3800h as well as Denon CD player 600 NE. Previous receiver and matching CD player component was on all day with little warmth. I’m impressed with the build quality for high end receivers. I took one star off from the increased heat from two hours of operation of this unit. Also, for the price point, Denon must make a backlit remote for all of its Denon AVR x3800h products. Overall, I’m immensely happy with my purchase of Denon products.
