I did a lot of research and listening to different systems and ultimately, I really enjoyed the BOSE Soundtouch with Bass module, but for $1300 it was not in consideration. So it was down to the SONOS and the Denon, I went back twice to Best Buy listening to them both. I thought the Denon had richer sound and at $600 it was half the price of the SONOS soundbar which costs $600, plus adding the subwoofer was another $600 and still the sound was not as good. What I did like about the SONOS is that it does not use your WIFI to create the link between the SONOS unit like the Denon. My house is 4000sq ft and the router is in the basement with the Denon soundbar in the living room, upstairs 30 feet away. I have had almost no issues with connectivity and also have a HEOS1 in the hallway. We have an older TV, but the Samsung will let your sound come through your Optical connection allowing my TIVO remote to control both the TV channel and the volume through the Denon system. CNET mentioned that setup was difficult or tough to use, but the on-phone app walks you through it without and issues. You might have a problem if your TV does not allow control through the optical connection then you are stuck adjusting volume with your phone, which would be extremely annoying. You can also add a Denon Receiver to the HEOS system which I plan to do in the future.

After some time comparing the Heos Soundbar with the Sonos playbar, I am happy with picking the Heos. Having used a Denon receiver and headphones for many years, I knew I was getting a quality product. The demo products in store really demonstrated the amazing sound of the Heos. This product excels when playing music from Spotify. Only complaint is the app interface, hopefully they update that soon.

If it weren't for the connection problems, I'd give it a 5 star rating all day long. I love that it can be controlled through our phones and tablets. It sounds great whether I'm watching cable tv, streaming a movie, watching a bluray, or playing xbox. The downside comes when I turn on the tv. The tv and cable come on like normal, but the sound doesn't come out of the sound bar. If you press the volume on the remote, the icon on the tv acts as if sound is coming out of the sound bar, but there's nothing there. I've tried multiple HDMI's with no luck. I haven't tried optical for the mere fact that I got this so I could use HDMI. Since no volume comes out at times when the tv is turned on, I have to go onto my phone and choose it to play tv instead of it automatically choosing to play tv. Rather annoying! With that being said, once the bugs are worked out, it's a solid sound bar.

I have been going in between Sonos and Heos/Denon for the past few months. I decided to bite the bullet and get the new Heos Home Cinema and I'm really enjoying it. Many people say the user interface is better on the Sonos App, but quite frankly everything I need is on the Heos App. I can reach my Pandora One accounts, my iTunes playlists or pick-and-choose from what ever song I want on my iPhone/iPads, and I can listen to live radio feeds. Although there are other options, I don't need them. (Spotify, Rhapsady, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, SoundCloud, Tidal, Rdio, separate USB music hard drive or the option to set up Music Servers) I have my sound bar hooked up to my Panasonic GT50 via HDMI ARC port so whether I am watching Netflix on my Apple TV, watching a movie on my blue ray player, watching cable TV, or playing xbox the sound automatically adjusts to which item I'm using. I also really like the feature where I can turn down/up the treble, bass, and individually adjust the subwoofer all from my phone/tablet. No need for an addition remote or manual adjustment on the subwoofer itself. I would probably say my only two wishes are that it had a stronger mid level instead of relying so heavily on the sub. Secondly, I wish the Heos system would allow for rear speakers like the Sonos. You can pair the Heos 3 speakers into a stereo left and right, but not as rear L & R speakers. However, the cost is quite a bit less expensive so well worth the purchase in my eyes!

Wish I read the reviews before buying this unit. May have changed my mind. Was trying out sound bars in store and this unit just blew me away. Was looking for a unit that would double as home stereo to play music on, and demo music sounded rich and full, and rivaled sound from Sonos speakers at half the price. The software however is not intuitive, and had to call the Denon Heos help line to figure out how to consistently get the unit to sync with my Samsung TV. It's not smart enough to stay synced on its own. Still is glitchy to the annoyance of my wife. Can stream Pandora and iHeart from app, which is a major plus. Would rate higher if software was better. But man this unit sounds wonderful...

Have been a fan of the Denon speakers and receivers in the bedroom and was looking for a quality sound bar for my new 75 hdtv in the living room. Went to the store multiple times looking at Sonos and other soundbar systems before seeing the Heos on display in Magnolia. Sound and performance had my fiancee and I blown away. The length and appearance of the Heos soundbar looks better on larger TVs than the Sonos. Sound quality of the music off Spotify is amazing. Only complaint that I have is that you can't sync additional Heos speakers to create greater surround sound for TV audio.

I bought this and immediately hooked it up to my new Samsung TV. The problem was, and it took me awhile to figure it out, that the Anynet + Device function on the TV was automatically shutting off after a period of time. This, combined with the sound bar's standby mode, would cause the sound bar to not "wake up" when I turned the TV on. Making sure the Anynet + couldn't automatically shut off has seemingly fixed the problem... But, it occasionally still doesn't work and I have to unplug the sound bar and plug it back in to get sound. Also, because it doesn't have a remote, I don't think it is possible to sync it up with my cable provider remote. Maybe I can get a universal though, I'll have to see. Everything else about this product (app, music function, look, etc.) is great. Just wish there was a way to guarantee it worked every time I turn on the TV!

I wanted this sound bar to create a whole home audio system that works with a Marantz receiver. I also didn't want to spend $1600 on a Sonos sound bar. The Denon app dosent compete with the Sonos at all, but it's not bad once you get connected. Getting connected was very frustrating. And the app itself is a little cumbersome. I also bought a HEOS one and the interface between the two speakers works decently well. This Home Cinema sound bar won't connect to Alexa, I think you have to buy the new version for that. The audio quality exceeded my expectations. Mostly the subwoofer. The two working together cover a broad range of frequencies. The subwoofer has a solid low end that isn't just the lowest lows, and isn't lacking in the high end of the low frequencie spectrum. The sound bar is crisp and voices are clear when watching TV. Music sounds decent (not quiet as good as a stereo pair in my opinion, but that's not my primary reason for buying this sound bar. Overall, I think the audio quality competes with Sonos quiet well, especially for the money. I have yet to connect it to a Marantz receiver. That's phase two of my home audio project.

I got this system so I could add speakers via wifi through out the house. The wireless speakers work and sound really deep and clear. Just make sure you have really good wi do in which ever room you put them in. The actual sound bar is so clear that I actually can understand what is being said

This soundbar and woofer combo is pretty good, but we were disappointed that (at the time) we could not connect it with other HEOS products to create a 3.1 or 5.1 surround sound system and that everything had to be done through the app. The app is decent, but sometimes I just want to reach down and adjust the sub with my hands.

We went to Best Buy, with an interest in Sonos. Our main goal was distributed TV audio; being able to hear audio from TV in the den, when we're in the kitchen. The Best Buy associate assured us that Heos offered this capability, in addition to better audio quality than Sonos and deep discounts on Heos products. Heos audio is VERY good, networking speakers together with the Heos app is easy to accomplish. Problems arise when attempting to network speakers with the Home Cinema Sound Bar for TV audio. As I have learned from Denon support, the Home Cinema Sound Bar is designed to maintain sync, at all times, with audio from TV. So, when Home Cinema Sound Bar is receiving input from TV, we cannot network with other speakers. Denon support did provide me with a workaround (rather complicated) for creating networked TV audio. It works, but with the disclaimer that audio will be out of sync with what appears on screen. Lastly, you MUST use the Heos app to switch audio sources to speakers. The app works pretty well, but this extra step maksmth e experience less than organic.

I purchased the Heos Sound Bar to compliment a new Samsung 48 inch Ultra 4k TV and in a word, the improvement is "superb"! We also bought 2 Heos 5 speakers and round be set-up to be easy (nearly plug and play - 10 minutes from unpacking to play for the Heos 5's). Best Buy set up my TV and Sound bar so I can't comment on that, but went quickly as well. The Heos Sound bar easily switches between TV or my Spotify account. Overall, very pleased.

Great sound and 4 out if 5 is for ease of use on app and set up which could be more intuitive. A much better bang for the buck than Sonos with comparable sound. I wish you could use the heos 1 speakers as rear surround and hope that software update is coming soon. Overall, I would buy again and in fact bought 2 already.

I am happy with the sound quality but the set up was a pain. Did not like the fact that to use it I had to use my phone as a remote. Took geek squad 2 1/2 hours to set up universal remote to put tv and sound system on one unit and had to pay for two charges because was not told by salesperson about no remote with unit.

In hindsight I might have been better off spending a little more and buying a Sonos bar. This bar sounds decent but not fantastic. I connected mine via HDMI and about 30% of the time I have to turn off the TV and turn it back on the get the bar to sync up otherwise I get sound from both the bar and TV which creates an echo effect. I bought a bar because I have trouble hearing the dialog of shows unless it's louder than the background. This bar has a setting to raise the voices louder so you can hear them over background noise. It works pretty good. It requires you to use your smartphone or tablet to set up the bar and to fully control the features which is sort of a pain. I personally would rather have controls on the bar so I don't have to go through a smartphone app but once it's set up you really don't need to change anything that often anyway. For the price I paid it's definitely worth the money but if your looking for top quality don't skimp with this bar.

Went to the store to look at Samsung soundbars. The one I wanted wasn't hooked up to listen to. I told the sales associate my concerns and needs and he took me to listen to the Heos HomeCinema Soundbar. The sound is amazing and puts the Samsung soundbar we had to shame. When spring comes we'll be adding a speaker on the patio and another in the garage. We can make the patio and garage different zones and be playing different music at the same time. Figuring out how to control the system with my iPhone was a bit confusing but I quickly figured it out. Another great feature is you can stream through many different music services. AMAZING! We had company over the weekend after I made the purchase and during dinner a Meghan Trainor song came on and when the chorus hit I bumped up the volume because we all know "it's all about that bass". Everyone turned around to see where the sound was coming from. They were stunned that the soundbar in front of the TV and the subwoofer next to a chair were generating that much depth, such rich tones and volume. The purchase was spontaneous and three times the price of the Samsung but I don't regret it at all.

The sound is remarkably loud for its size. I like the streaming apps you can run with the Heos app although the iOS app has a bug that prevents setting up the wireless connection. I had to use my wife's android app. But once it's set up I can stream all that I need with it and it works well: Pandora, music on my phone, and others. If it had AirPlay support I'd give it 5 stars.
