I searched out and found this receiver to be highly recommended. I had an issue not long after purchase that was covered under warranty. It mostly sat unused as my surround sound wasn't setup. Now, 4 years later, its dead. First it would turn off at high volume and put out alot of heat. I pulled it out some and turned on the fan and it worked for another 2 days. It turns on the turns off immediately. Took it to Geek squad. $85 to look at it but they said from what its doing the whole board would need replacement essentially at the cost of a new reciever. Failure after 4 years for a $500 receiver isn't acceptable.

Had a new sound system installed and was directed towards this receiver from the Best Buy sales person. I am very happy with it and have not even used it to it's full potential.

Awesome purchase. Denon is the best in market. I liked the fact how it has multiple zones and can play both apple play and DLNA

Good sound with the definitive technology speaker package but when playing blue ray movies the picture and sound start to cut out after playing for 1hour or more. Have replaced hdmi cables , does not help. Would return receiver but have had it longer than 30 days.

    Unreliable Network Performance

Don't take my word for it. Read online forums and other reviews about the network performance of this amp. I purchased open box on clearance mainly for the dual zone and network features. After 2 hours on the phone with Denon Support, they recommended returning to BestBuy, which I promptly did. The sad part about the overall experience is that BestBuy had a newer model to replace this, but my only options were to exchange and pay an additional $500 for the same model which an updated SKU, or send in for repair with a 3 week minimum turnaround quote, or refund my money. I opted for the latter and will seek solutions elsewhere. Feel free to ask me for full details and disclosure.

Decent receiver, but I thought it would be more powerful. I had to increase the volume pretty high to get it to the same normal level on my old Onkyo. Also, I had a hard time hearing voices, but found a setting that allows you to increase dialog, which made a big difference.

    Outstanding Receiver

This has wonderful sound. This Denon receiver came with an Audessy sound calibration for setup which was accomplished with a small amount of effort, and it was well worth it! I use the receiver primarily for video sources, and it has taken an excellent TV and made it into an outstanding Home Theater that I am really enjoying. My system has just a center speaker (Definitive Techmology ProCenter 1000 purchased the same day from Best Buy) and two old Polk bookshelf speakers. No surrounds and no subwoofer, but the sound is great. I thought I would need a subwoofer, but I don't feel this way after using the system. The HDMI inputs are labelled well, CBL/TV, Blu-Ray, Game, Media, etc. Hook up your HDMI cables directly to the receiver for the best decoding and sound quality. There is an HDMI with ARC (Audio Return Channel), but use the inputs in the receiver Internet radio easily connected. Video pass thru works flawlessly and the picture is excellent. (There are numerous other video modes that I haven't tried yet.) I have had a number of other receivers over the years, but this is by far the best.

    Great Receiver So Far

Denon AVR-X2100W. Bought if from my local Best Buy about 3 weeks ago...so time will tell. This is replacing an old 1998 different brand receiver that I liked very much. I read lots of reviews about most of the newer receivers on the market and decided to go with Denon this time due to the good reviews. I love that I can finally connect all my inputs with HDMI now! So far I like the wireless networking capabilities. I have accessed my music thru my network and so far so good, as well as internet radio. Although I lost connection to my network and/or internet a few days later and had to re-establish connection which included unplugging the receiver, I only had to do that once so far as I've read others had to do. The on-screen navigation is good and fairly easy to get around in, I did have to hunt & peck on the remote to find what I wanted to adjust or change, but it wasn't too difficult. I didn't really read the direction for the remote first. Unfortunately, there is NO backlight on the remote. With today's tech and money we spend on home theater components...I do feel ALL stock remotes should come with backlights on all the buttons because WE ALL KNOW it's hard to see in dark...come on Denon...you can do that for us! Even my 4-5 year old TV has a dedicated button to turn the backlight on or off! The lack of a remote backlight is my only complaint to Denon so I hope they are reading. I downloaded the receiver manual online which is very nice to use for reference, you can click on links and it takes you to that page which is great. I still have yet to connect the rest of my surround speakers so I can test out the Audyssey calibration system...I still need to buy stands or something for the extra speakers in my limited room...I am looking forward to hearing the results after reading what people have posted about calibrating. So far this thing thru only stereo speakers, a center channel, and a sub...rocks my house and makes movies sound and feel awesome with great clarity. It DOES get pretty warm, so keep good air space around it for ventilation. I also LOVE that I can set the volume levels for a lower "max" level than what the receiver's default level is, as well as setting a low "start" level for turning on the receiver so kids or someone simply turning on the receiver won't accidentally blow the speakers...that's an AWESOME feature because I've had kids do that to my older systems before and it isn't pretty! It literally scares the fudge out of everyone in the room when that happens lol. I have not used the Bluetooth from my phone yet, but will hopefully try that soon. All in all, I'm pleased and am looking forward to many great years with this Denon!

I had a slightly older Denon, that sounded pretty good, but was a total pain to set up and use. the remote had about 100 buttons #veryconfusing. So it started to have a problem, and was time for a new unit. I was very happy that i went to the Magnolia Center in Best Buy. My sales Rep Mike knew a lot about this product and sold me on it right away. the setup is so simple the WiFi is awesome, and the ability to be able to stream Itunes from from desk top computer is so cool. Also the HDMI pass thru is great. I just love my new Denon AVR-X2100W. I would recommend this unit for most people that aren't wealthy, as this is well worth the price.

    great sound with Audissey

I got this unit to replace an old Harman Kardon which had the video board damaged. I was considering this or the older model X3000 and decided to go with the "entry" level (if compared to the great 3100 or 4100) since it has HDMI 2.0, all networking and bluetooth standard. I was most amazed by the difference of the sound quality after I had it install, when comparing to my old unit. Features are great, including internet radio. I had it wired to my networking and attached an external HD to my routher (you need a router with USB) which works as a media server for the Denon. Installation was quite easy following the in screen step-by-step, including Audissey. I use it with multizone and I happy it allows for a source to play it only at zone 2 (my patio) or simultaneously for both zones

11/7/14 I bought this on Monday 11/3/14. Great sound and I adjusted the settings well for my liking. I can't figure out the app yet. My main problem is that the unit froze 5 times since purchasing. 3 times yesterday. The video is still there but sound stops. The remote nor power button can shut it down. Instead, I have to unplug the unit to reset it. This is very inconvenient, especially when you are really into what you're watching. I will call denon but ultimately I bought from Best Buy so will need to return it. Again, I love the sound. The remote could be designed better(more comprehensive for some buttons# but I have the general idea down. It's sad to not have it for a week yet. BTW, the first time it froze was the day I hooked everything up. I checked all the wires before realizing I needed to unplug it. The sound returned to it's awesome status after restarting the unit. I've seen other complaints about this in reviews but hoped I'd be fine. The other gripe I have, which I must figure out is the image that I saw on the tv while it was directly connected to the new bluray player #bought three days before receiver)I bought was great for being a dvd. Once, I channeled through the receiver, the image quality dropped and now looks grainy and generally average. When I had direct connection to the tv, I never made adjustments and the image quality was excellent, almost bluray standard. I have since messed with the tv and bluray settings and still can't achieve the image quality I had beforehand. Sigh. I guess my weekend project is to test a new receiver. I have many possessions that have stood the test of time and defied the horrid review. Can't win all the time.
