Customers regard Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition favorably, particularly praising its expansive gameplay, engaging story, and substantial content. Many appreciated the value offered for the price, and the fun factor, especially when playing with others. While some mentioned challenges related to progression and difficulty, positive feedback on the gameplay and expansion significantly outweighs negative comments.

For no other reason than to fill empty space while waiting for Dragon Age: Inquisition I decided to pick up the original Destiny on release day. Fantastic shooter, terrible story line, sort of like CoD, no story arch but a fun shooter. Since it is made by Bungie it has a strong Halo feel which is definitely not a bad thing, even hid how bad the original story line was. I was annoyed with the inability to connect with friends and actually play this game as it was designed to be played. so around a week after Vault of Glass came out i set the game down and didnt pick it back up untill a few days before the Taken King expansion came out. I was happy that I hadn't wasted my money on the first 2 DLC packs as they came with this one, and since I am a GCU member I got 20% off the game new. so i figured for 3 pieces of DLC it was worth the $48 price tag. Leveled from 30-40 in maybe 4 days, which was diappointing but the story line was definitely much better. Cayde-6 (Nathan Fillion in all his gloriousness) was fantastic and definitely brought me closer to the game and made me rewatch Firefly. Good game to play with friends, decent story but not great. easy to level up but way too much grinding. so that is why it gets a 4 overall.

With the recent sales, the Legendary Edition is the only way to go. You get over $130 worth of content in one package, plus future updates. The game is loads of fun, especially if you have friends to play with. If you have friends that are interested, but haven't started playing Destiny:The Taken King, now is the time to get onto Bungie's website and refer them (must be refereed within 7 days of starting the game). You both get in game items as well as bonus experience as you play together, making leveling a breeze. The down side to this game is that it is online only, there is no offline content. After a while, the game becomes really repetitive and the high end content requires 6 players. It is a great way to meet new players, but at the same time can make you beat your head on the wall. It does feel rewarding though when 6 complete strangers can take down the various raid bosses. If you like first person shooters with the rewards of a MMORPG, this is certainly a game for you.

They are forcing you to buy the original game again! If there was a way to only get the new material for half the price, it would have definitely been worth it. So disappointing.

Good game you can play with your family and friend

Executive summary for adults and parents: Good game you can play with your family and friends. If you are new to the game, purchase the Legendary (full) edition. You will get all the game content from last year as well as the latest release. If you own year one, there is no difference in the disk. Purchase the update for $20 less in-game (you will see the mission highlighted in-game). Download content is released to add new missions and strikes. These will cost you $20 each at the time they are released, though. Parents: This is a single player per console game. Even if you have more than one controller, the game only allows for one person to play. You need to have more than one console (Xbox or Playstation) to have more than one person play. A definite down-side in a house with multiple players. Also, this games takes a large chunk of console memory. If you have the opportunity to purchase an external terabyte drive rather than a Kinect or additional games, it would be worth it in the long run. Full review (for Xbox One) This is the second release in the Destiny title. The rating is Teen and it is a First Person Shooter (FPS). However, the violence is fantasy based where characters are killed using guns and special abilities. As a parent, I would say this is no more graphic than a TV show. Definitely appropriate for a Teen and even some pre-teens and more entertaining for the adult than some other game titles. The graphics and story is better this time around than the first. That may in part be due to the fact the foundation for the universe was laid in year one. If this is your first time through, you will be playing year 1 story and missions working to level your character up to the point you can play the newer missions. Depending on how much time you wish to spend, it could take a while to get to the new content. But, there is an option… New players and those with characters below a level of 25 can instantly level up one character to 25 to allow access to the newest content. This level up mechanism is a “Spark” which is made available to you in-game. Note, however, that your character will not have all the abilities unlocked that they may have gained through the traditional “grind” method of completing missions, bounties, strikes and raids. But, if you want to get right into the latest action with friends, this will get you there. Elements of the game include missions which advance the story and provide rewards the first time you play them to help you with the next story mission. Strikes are side missions focus on killing a specific target and don’t advance the story but give you a reward the first time you play them. These strikes are included in a special menu called “Strike Playlist” which will randomly pull from the strikes and set the difficulty for that strike according to the level listed in the play list. These offer a different set of rewards which are based on the difficulty and are known to you prior to selecting the strike. You can play it as many times as you like. There is a daily story mission and weekly missions that also provide rewards for the first time they are run. The daily resets each day, the weekly each week. Raids have a specific agenda like a strike and do not change. They advance the story to a degree in that the results of the raids play a role in future story. The rewards are given the first time you run it for the week and reset each week. If you need to leave a raid before you are finished (raids can take a while), your checkpoint progress is saved and you can enter back at that checkpoint any time before the next reset (thank you, developer Bungie!). The Crucible is player versus player multiplayer shoot to kill matches. Some crucible games are objective based, other are deathmatch where the objective is to kill the most players. There is no requirement to play any of crucible, though it does help to level up your character and it allows for a larger group of friends to play together. Bounties are tasks to complete that will gain experience points (XP) to level up your character. They often include some other rewards like glimmer (a form of game currency), weapons or armor, or the materials needed to level those items up. The game refers to fireteams which are 3 character teams. You can play with alone or with 3 friends. Strikes require a team of 3 and most will match you randomly with other members if you do not have 3 players. Raids and Crucible require 6. The crucible will match you with others to fill a team, raids will not. Overall, year two adds interesting story, strikes and missions to the game. If you are into science fiction you may find this enjoyable. The download content game additions that come over the course of the year help to keep the game fresh and interesting.

Destiny TK: New comers must have!

This is definitely worth the price point for the Taken King expansion. It's unfortunate that day 1 players are out 3x what new comers pay, but if you are a new comer, for all the content you get, it's really wroth it. Don't be worried, you'll be up to speed within a week if you to put some time it. Destiny is a game you can play at any pace. I've really enjoyed the original and house of wolves story lines and just started the Taken King yesterday. Crucible (MP) has grown on me and the raid and strike game types are fun and extremely challenging when you start playing them past the "hard" setting.

    Worth the investment

Let's be honest no game is perfect; if you are the few who have not played Destiny or have not played it since House of Wolves then I definitely recommend giving it another try! I admit the story is pretty poor; however in terms of FPS-RPG this is a very good game. Bungie has made major changes with each expansion and most were for the better; I expect the Taken King to be well received based on the changes they have announced. The fact you can buy the game + all expansions for the price of the base game originally, this is a steal and despite all the hate you see on other reviews most of these people have 100+ hours of gameplay (worth!) or they quit immediately and didn't play it long enough to even understand it. TLDR: Give it a try; it is not the same game from Beta.

I previously owned Destiny and the prior DLCs and the Taken King and the attendant updates have saved this game. While there are always shortfalls in every major release, I believe that the fun factor has increased exponentially from that of the original release game with new items, abilities, and content that make the grind much more entertaining.

Destiny took a long time to load and then did an update, Then after level one was completed, it won't allow us to go to level two. It goes back to the person talking and won't move forward...very frustrating!

If you are curious about Destiny, this package will catch you up with all year 1 + year 2 content. For the OGs like myself who realize this package is catered to the newbies... this is still a great upgrade. TTK story is so much better than the year 1 confusion. The gameplay and leveling system are great. I have been sucked back in.

I've put in hundreds of hours into Destiny. The Taken King looks to be delivering tons of new content, as well as polishing the systems Destiny originally put into place. If you're looking for fun PVP and love exploring PVE destinations, this game is what you want. The Taken King looks to have improved on all of the original Destiny's flaws: including its story telling. I can't wait.
