Very well acted, shot and written. Even with the subtitles it is easy to follow and enjoy. Great characters. Columbo like storylines except he is not a bumbler... Learned about this show when we went to Sicily and kept seeing "Montalbano" tours...? You can't stream it on any of the mainstream services so DVD's are the way to start..

We loved reading Andrea Camilleri's series about the Sicilian detective Salvo Montalbano (played by Zingaretti) who loves to go to restaurants and use psychological techniques - somewhat reminiscent of George Simenon's Maigret, but modern. It can't be said Maigret had a love life, but Montalbano does. Also, Camilleri Seeing the series on the screen adds to the experience. We read the series as soon as they are translated by Stephen Sartorelli and now have 15 episodes on DVD. We'll be ordering them now at Best Buy since it's a bit cheaper. On Youtube, make sure to type Commissario Montalbano or you may get some clips of pets named Salvo.
