Bought this grip for extended shooting and the second release. It has not failed me, yet. Love the second shutter release. I am using it with my Nikon D5100 and it fits perfectly. We played with the remote control a bit, but haven't tried shooting anything with it yet.

Overall Happy With This Grip & Included IR Remote

I have a Nikon D5200. I chose this battery grip because it is compatible with both the D3100 and D5100 and they use the same battery as the D5200.
I am not sure it is functioning properly with my camera. It seems to use the batteries separately rather than combining them for extended battery life. This means I have to remove 1 battery in order for it to begin using the second battery.
I don't know if this is because it is not specifically for the D5200 or if this is how it is supposed to work. It wouldn't make much sense because I can change out to an extra battery without using a grip.
I haven't called the DigiPower 1-800 number yet to see if they can figure out the problem.
As far as the grip itself goes, it makes the camera easier to handle for portrait and upside down landscape photos. This comes in handy for my rock climbing photos.
I love the fact that it comes with an IR remote so I don't have to buy a remote from Nikon.
Overall I am happy with the grip for now and if nothing else I have a place to store my extra battery.

First I have another battery grip for the D3100 and this one feels more plasticy. Plus its not working with my batteries I have to use one at a time.

I was looking for two things. First to extend the battery range of the camera and second to be able to increase my grip on the camera. This product has accomplished both.

This battery grip is a cheap option to use vertical grip and extra battery, sadly it needs and external an impractical external wire.

I love this! it makes the camera very comfortable to hold and use. The only draw back is the wire used to connect the camera to the grip for the shutter operation. It would also be a nice gesture to supply the extra battery but all in all it is a fantastic product

The product is great, it adds a nice bit of bulk to my camera for me to be able to get my hands on it. Good long lasting power source, holds two batteries and it has a remote shutter release built in.
