May - or May Not - Be a Good Solution for You

The Digipower Instructor - 8.5" Tripod Professional Video Kit has all the pieces you need for a basic podcasting or video-conferencing setup. • A short tripod (made to rest on a table or desk) that holds your phone and the included LED light. • A lavalier mic and clip that is simple and easy to use. - Note: If you do not have a mini-audio connection on your phone, you'll need an adapter. • A Bluetooth 'clicker' to start and stop your phone's recording. However, before buying, you should give thought to whether or not this package will actually meet your needs. • If you plan to do your videos from a desk or table, this will work. - Note: Unless you've got an unusually high table or workspace, you will need something to put the tripod on in order to avoid the 'up-your-nose' look. • If you plan to do your videos from a variety of settings that may or may not have appropriate surfaces available to hold the tripod, then you should opt for a solution that uses a full-sized tripod. This may - or may not - be a good solution for you.

The Digipower professional video kit is great for on-the-go bloggers and even online schooling. One of my professors required adequate lighting and audio during class (law school) and the Digipower professional video kit was great for the class. The included LED light provided adequate lighting and lasts long. The microphone is also great and worked without any issues. Overall, the Digipower professional video kit is great.

Received my DigiPower Instructor Tripod Video Kit a week ago an have been putting it through its, paces. Inside the box comes everything you need to get started vlogging or video calls: 1. 112 LED Video Light with Diffuser 2. Tripod Phone Holder 3. Clip-On Microphone 4. Wireless Shutter Remote 5. Micro USB Charging Cable 6. Camera Shoe To start, you want to make sure the 112 LED Video Light is fully charged by plugging in the micro USB Charging Cable to the bottom and charge it for about 2 hours. Note it will come partially charged. So this process may not take as long. Attach the Camera Shoe to the bottom of the 112 LED Video Light and slide it into the grove of the holder on top of the tripod (which extends out) and power on the LED Video Light using the top button on the side of the light. The color temperature ranges from 3100K to 5500K; so keep in mind the higher color temperature, the faster the battery will drain. But it does a good job with letting you know approximately how much battery life you have. I didn't really test out the Clip-On mic or the Wireless Shutter Remote as what I used the product for those parts were not necessarily needed. Maybe down the line the Wireless Shutter Remote will be needed but the Clip-On Mic requires a 3.5mm audio jack. However, most phones nowadays have done away with the audio jacks. But it would be useful if I was using an actual camera instead of a phone. Ok so using this product helped brighten my calls in and allowed me to work instead of trying to hold my phone. Facetime calls with my family were amazing and I love how it could be used somewhat as a selfie stick as well. Loved walking around showing my family off my new home and my upgrades. My only small grip was the Camera Shoe. After a little while it seems as though it becomes loose and I have to keep trying to tighten it back down and to try and keep the LED Light facing forward. It became a bit cumbersome for someone like myself with larger hands. Not necessarily a deal breaker but just something to keep in mind.

Pro: -Good LED light pack -Battery life -Sturdy tripod -Can be used with other camera with standard mount Con: -Diffuser doesn’t help much -Can’t do portrait mode -Light won’t stay upright without phone -Mic hiss The tripod is nice and sturdy and has the standard screw mount to be used with other cameras. The top can fold up for landscape phone clamping with the light attaching on top. It’s a ball joint so it can rotate 360 and tilt 90 degrees. While it can tilt sideways to be able to hold a phone vertically, the tripod will not support the weight of the phone with the light in this configuration. The light will also not stay upright without a phone in the clamp. The LED light pack is the stand out. It’s bright and the intensity and temperature can be adjusted with the small screen on the back. The battery can last from 30 mins to 2 hours, depending on the intensity. It’s rechargeable via micro USB cable. The diffuser doesn’t do much to soften the light. It sits right on top of the LED strips so the hot spots still shine through and are uncomfortable on the eyes. Just a bit of a gap would have improved it. The included mic will work in a pinch, but there is hissing and doesn’t sound that great. The shutter remote is bluetooth and was able to connect with my iPhone without a problem. It feels a bit cheap but works fine.

The Digipower "Instructor" video kit combines several quality accessories into a complete package for using your phone (or a tripod mounted camera) to stream or present in video meetings. Two highlights for the set are the amazing LED fill light, as well as the desktop tripod itself which is capable of holding a mobile phone or a camera. It also includes a lavalier mic (with a very long cord) and a bluetooth remote control for snapping pictures or starting/stopping video recording. I found the desktop tripod to be a great product with tons of adjustability to get my phone centered on my face at different angles. It has an easy to adjust mechanism for extending the legs which allows you to get the camera to eye level on many desks. Likewise, attaching your phone is super easy and you get even more adjustments to set the angle of your phone at the top of the tripod. The LED light is amazing - it has a built in battery that lasts for hours at low settings, or ~35 minutes at the brightest settings. It also has color temperature adjustment to warmer or cooler light. The brightness at full brightness is ... glaring :). It's also fairly pocketable if you want to carry it with you as a ludicrous handheld floodlight. The other included accessories are the remote and the clip-on lavalier microphone. I found the mic a little underwhelming when connected through my USB-C adapter for my Note 20 Ultra. There was some static when the cable moved. It does give you the ability to stand back quite a bit from your phone, however. The bluetooth remote to control your phone's shutter worked perfectly for both photos and video on my Note 20, as well. It's small enough that I might start keeping it in my pocket for easier selfies when out with my family :) As a complete package, all of these components make it really easy to join a Teams or Zoom meeting and out-class your colleagues! Definitely worth a look.

    My new favorite light!

I wasn't expecting a lot when I got this light. I have other ones that don't work that great and don't get very bright. This one totally blew away my expectations! Out of the box you wouldn't think much of this light. Its about the size of a deck of cards and probably about 1/2 the thickness. It will very easily fit in your pocket or camera bag and take up very little space. Its also rechargeable, so you don't have to worry about wasting money on batteries either. When I first powered this thing on I was amazed at how bright it was. Then I looked at the cool display on the back of it and realized it wasn't even at full brightness yet! I cranked it up all the way and was blinded by the light. Seriously, this thing gets very bright. After playing around with it I also noticed that you can adjust the color temperature of the light. There are 25 different color temperature settings going in 100 increments. It also shows on the display roughly how much time you have left for the light to be on with the battery level. So you will have fair warning when you are about to run out of juice. But you can easily get an hour or more out of it with a full charge if you aren't using the max brightness (which you will probably rarely need) They also include a tripod and mount for your cell phone. They are all very heavy duty plastic and not cheap at all. I was also able to use it to mount my GoPro under the camera as well. Makes it great for setting up on a table, or carrying it around in handheld mode. This is definitely the light to get if you do any kid of vlogging or video shooting. Just pop it in your bag and its there whenever you need it!

Useful kit, but could be better

GOOD - Light is very bright and versatile - Sturdy tripod with both threaded mount and phone clip - Mic has very long cable BAD - Tripod has minimal height adjustment range and will have problems with some phones with side buttons - Clamp mouth too small for 7" tablets - Mic has no discrimination / noise cancelling. Easily picks up noise across the room - Remote shutter has limited functionality - Light battery life not as good as advertised. TL/DR The Instructor is a good enough kit for people wanting to get just the basics for better than average video conferencing and recording in a single purchase. But anyone wanting good, dedicated video or streaming will be disappointed. DETAILS The star of the show here is the light. It's very bright for it's size, the battery is rechargeable, it has a slide on diffuser, it's threaded for standard camera mounts, and it can be adjusted for brightness and color temperature. However, it can only go between white and orange soft light, nothing in the blue space, so you can't use it as a corrective light if your room has a lot of incandescents. Also, the battery remaining indicator on the back is overly optimistic. At lower intensities, you can easily get more than a few hours. I got about six hours of use at 2% brightness, no where near the eight it estimated. But not bad overall. The rest of the kit has a somewhat cheap feel to it, as if it was designed to be halfway high-quality, but not really. The mic is handy and has a generous cable length, and comes with a 4-pole to 3-pole adapter. But it picks up a lot of background noise. You also get a Bluetooth shutter release control, so you can start and stop your videos without touching your phone. Except it's basically just a Bluetooth keyboard with only a Volume Up key. The fob has an Anrdoid and iPhone button, but they both work on both phone types and they both send the same keystroke, so I'm not sure why it needs two buttons. This also means for the remote to work, your phone has to be set to use the volume button as the shutter release. If they were going to make a multi button remote, why not use three buttons with three different keystrokes so you could control shutter and zoom? The tripod is very sturdy, it folds up to be very sleek, and the legs extend to adjust the height. The legs are set wide, which improves stability, but also takes up lots of desk space. It also means an almost pointless height adjustment of 6.75" - 8" ( not the 6.5" - 8.5" the package claims ). The mount up top has a normal threaded connector for cameras, and it can flip open as a spring clamp for phones. When open in the clamp, the top portion has a camera shoe fitting so you can add your own light source, or use the included adapter to use the kit's LED. The spring-loaded jaws are quite strong ( it's easy to accidentally pull the top part off by accident ) and open up to just under 3.5" inches. They're more than big enough for any phone, but I couldn't fit any of my 7" tablets. Also the clamp mount isn't friendly with phones that have side buttons in the middle of the frame. Overall I think this is worth the price of admission, but only just. The rechargeable light is incredibly useful, and most of the rest of the kit will likely be adequate for a beginner's needs, or someone on a tight budget, as long as they don't expect too much.

This is a nice, compact set-up for video calls and zoom meetings. It was easy to set up, and the wireless camera shutter was easy to pair with my phone. I liked being able to adjust the light to eliminate harsh shadows. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the microphone. It has a 3.5 mm plug for a headphone jack. To use it with any modern Android phone, you will need a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. It was an oversite that Mars an otherwise great product.

If you're a creator, a teacher, someone who has to be in meetings via video, this is the right product for you. I'm actually astounded at how well everything worked. It was super easy to set up, very easy to use. I could not be happier at this point. The light itself is great, number one, super bright. Number two, it comes with a protective cover for when it's not in use. The microphone, super easy to set up, easy to plug in, and start your creation. The tripod was super easy to use with my phone, and it's easy to use with a camera. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Good Light kit but has issues with the buttons

The Digipower Video Kit has quite a few accessories. The tripod stand is sturdy and the legs can easily be extended to make it taller. It also included a lavalier mic and Bluetooth remote. The LED light is bright and it’s brightness can be adjusted. The back of the LED light displays the brightness and battery level. The buttons on the LED light do not always function properly. The buttons are spring loaded. When you press them they’re supposed to pop back up. They don’t always pop up. Instead they stay down, and don’t pop up right away. When I press the power button to change the light settings, by staying down it thinks I’m trying to power off the light. So instead of switching to a different lighting mode, it cuts off. This is something that needs to be addressed.
