Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the new multicar race formats. However, some find the gameplay frustrating, particularly the lack of features like hill climb and cross-over formats, and the absence of split-screen multiplayer is also a point of concern for some players. The overall racing experience is a mixed bag, with some enjoying the new additions while others miss previous features.

    Best Off-Road Racer Currently

DiRT 2 is a great racing game. Like all racing games, it can be frustrating being played on a higher difficulty, but if you choose the difficulty level for you, it can be highly addictive. The graphics in the game are great. It gets a three for difficulty because it has several difficulty levels. I love driving through muddy areas with puddles and having the water wash up onto the windshield, temporarily blinding you until the wind shield wipers activate. The mud builds up on the side of the cars throughout the course of the race, making the game’s title appropriate. The damage models of the cars are unlike I have seen in a while. What makes this one great is the modern visual graphics combined with the damage models giving you an unparallel experience. Another great thing is the computer AI, they seem better than racing games of the past. It is also possible to drive them off the road in your frustrated moments. Sometimes, that is not even required because of the fact that the AI makes mistakes on its own. One bad thing though is the fact that the cars aren’t very customizable. Yeah, you can add some little things, such as: an air freshener hanging off the rear-view-mirror, a small assortment of dashboard items, and change the horn; but it feels wrong not having the ability to make custom paint jobs, change tire rims, change the spoiler, and so on. When you first put the disc in and start it up, it begins a half-hour sequence of watching required animations/tutorials and the game guide telling you what every menu screen is for. After that though, it is all racing action. DiRT 2 is a must-have for those who are die hard racing game fans.

    RIDICULOUS FUN!

I absolutely love playing this game. The graphics are superb. Both the car models and environments look fantastic. The sounds of the dirt roads, engines, crashes, etc. are all amazingly realistic. The cars not only look exactly like their real life counterparts but sound like them as well. The vibration feedback is also spot on making it feel exactly like you're driving a car on loose dirt roads. Each car has a bunch of liveries and toys for the dash and windshield to mix and match for customization. You can also tune each car before the races to get the response you want from them around corners and overall traction or speed. I haven't had this much fun with a racing game since...one of the older Need for Speed games and I know I have never had this much fun with an off-road racing game. The only down side of Dirt 2, which is a common trend in all new racing games, is the lack of split-screen multiplayer. I would love to be able to play this game with friends when they come over and not just online.

The driving seems very real and rewards smooth sensible drivers as opposed to those who just mash down the throttle and bounce off the walls. I like the new multicar race formats, but miss the hill climb and the cross-over formats. I do wish there was split screen because some of us gamers have real-life friends. You should also be able to choose your own wheels and paint your own car. The liveries are all the same and very loud. I also wish there were more car brands and options. Ford is one of the leading rally car brands in the world, yet it's scarce on this game. Volkswagen is what I race rallycross with in the US, and the Taureg is the only VW in the game...boo....very fun game though.

    Good and Bad

Dirt 2 is a great game but seems to be missing something. They diversified the game to have a more even amount of every off-road discipline, which means there is a lot less actual rallying. So, if you liked the first Dirt or any Colin McRae rally game, you may not like this. However, if you couldn't stand them Dirt 2 should be a lot more fun because there is a lot more wheel to wheel action. They also got rid of hillclimbs and cross-over events which I enjoyed. I gave it a good rating overall because it is still a lot of fun and has quite a few improvements over Dirt, but I found myself playing the rally events more because there weren't enough of them in the game.

This game is ok over all id rate it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. the graphics are great and the game is pretty fun but its a little hard to controls the cars and when you side into a wall sideways hitting your rear end first a lot of the times it turns your car facing the wall and its easier for you to spin out then it is for you to spin out other cars and not much customizing your car except the paint job and a lot of them aren't that great and even when the game is on easy it gets pretty hard id lean towards not recommending this to a friend because really the only good thing about this game is the graphics and i mean its Playstation 3 i hope all the games have good graphics.

This is hands down the best racing game ive ever played! When you drive you can actually feel the power of the car and the realistic movements of the car! Some people may say its too hard to control but thats becuase they are used to terrible need for speed games and they arnt used to the realism of the dirt series!

I BOUGHT DIRT2 AND SHIFT, DIRT2 SIMPLY OUT DOES SHIFT WITH CAR DAMAGE (SHIFT CARS LOOK DIRTY THEN PARTS FALL OFF AFTER HARD CRASHES) THE HANDLING IS GOOD ON BOTH BUT THE MORE I PLAY DIRT THE MORE I STRAY FROM SHIFT. CODEMASTERS SHOULD DO NASCAR 2010.
