Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with features other than the suction. However, many customers reported issues with the suction power, noting that it frequently clogs, loses suction, and struggles to pick up certain materials like hair and bedding. The awkward hose design also received negative feedback. Several users found the vacuum's noise level to be excessive.

You get what you pay for.

I liked this when i first got it. Then, i noticed it was not picking up any of my dogs hair. It gets clogged and loses suction weekly, emptying the canister is a mess, the filter clogs almost immediately and the replacement is almost 1/2 what i paid for the vacuum itself. And not to metion the belt blows about every 6 weeks. You get what you pay for. This would prob be great for someone who doesnt need to do deep cleaning, or picking up after small kids or pets.

    Worst Purchase Ever

Let me just start by saying that this vaccum drove my entire family out of the house...literally. After only 3 months the vaccum's motor let out a huge pop and then came the smoke. (followed by my smoke detector going off) Needless to say, the motor burned up, leaving the worst smell in our home for 2 days. Yes, I emptied the canister regularly and no I didn't accidentally suck up anything to cause it to blow. (although that was my first thought) This was probably the 4th vaccum that I've owned in 10 years and by far the WORST purchase ever. (normally my vaccum's last me for about 3 years) Before the motor gave out the vaccum was extremely loud. My 2 year old was terrified of the sound coming from it. It also lost suction power after the first couple of uses...and was never any good at picking up hair or the hamster bedding that always seems to end up on my daughter's floor. Also, it was impossible to vaccum the stairs in our home with the attachments so I ended up going out and buying a hand held vac for the stairs. Part of me was relieved that this vaccum died because I can finally go out a buy a much better one. So in short, this vaccum is not worth the frustration or the money that it cost you. I hope that this review helps all who are considering a purchase.

    Not bad, but....

Generally, I agree with other reviewers--have added ideas on consumer profiles that might (or might not) be a good match for this product. So take note, this model is especially worth considering for someone who's already experienced hearing loss--it's certainly on the noisy side. Also highly recommended for those who don't cringe at the need to handle globs of dirt, hair and all other junk that accumulates in that bagless filter. In order to empty it, each time you must completely pull out the filter and dislodge all that muck and guck wrapped around it. (Gross!) This model is suitable for anyone who vacuums in an area of small radius---or, if he/she simply enjoys the process of plugging/unplugging/plugging/unplugging the rather short cord. However, this model is NOT advisable for individuals with any sort of inherent lazy streak; it will increase probability that crevices and hard-to-reach areas remain "non-vacuumed". Previous reviewers accurately described the inconvenience in switching to use the hose or changing attachments. Now as far as value goes, this is certainly worth considering if you're mainly after powerful-yet-economical vacuum ability. The suction is so hearty, it barely moves if you're not on the right floor setting (one should reconsider purchase if there is any prior problems with loose linoleum tiles). Plus, with its compact size and gliding wheels, this thing maneuvers super-duper easily, like it's ice-skating. It's a breeze to store and get out of the way...which, quite possibly, is what you'll mainly want to do with it.

This vacum is good for the money. i like that it is bagless because you dont have to keep buying bags but the emptying process gets a little messy. I dont have much room ro vacum but it works out for me. Changing to the hose is a bit akward also. Overall this vacum is not that bad.

    Decent Vacuum

This Dirt Devil is ok. It does pick up a good amount of dirt and is easy to use. However, its needs more Hepa filters. The attachments work good but the filters are ackward to change out.

    Wonderful Suction Power

The hose attachment is flexible, which makes it quite easy to bend and pull to wherever you need it. This is unlike other hoses I've used, where the hose attached into the vacuum and caused the cleaner to be unstable... not with this one. It is fairly light weight making cleaning stairs easy -- it also has a stair handle, so you can get a good grip. The attachment holster keeps everything on and tightly secured, so there's no hoses or extensions falling off. The swivel wheels also make it easy to direct and turn.

    It's okay...

This vacuum is way too loud for an apartment or a condo. I read another review that said it was loud but i never though i would almost be scared to death to vacuum when I turned it on. It picks up things really well, but it could be better. The suction hose sucks. Bagless seems trouble-free but i'm scared to empty out the container.

    Newer model is even better!

The newer model (M80850) is even better than this model. The fold down handle and lighter weight is perfect to carry up and down stairs. The way you empty the canister makes it a snap to empty and restart. No bags no hassle.

I purchased this vacuum for my basement. It picks up very well, great suction power. I also like the caster wheels on the bottom. Bonus its bagless now you save money on not having to purchase bags!

    messy cleaning

Similar to the others on here, it is NOISY, woow, I mean I know vacuums are not silent, but this one is more noisy than the average for sure. Cleaning of the canister is not only a mess, but you really need to go outside or all the dust will spread through your apartment again while trying to clean it (if you like me live in an apt.) I guess if you have a house and can take it outside, it's fine. On a good note, it DOES suck a lot of dirt, so for the power issue, it's a plus !

    Disappointed

This is my second Dirt Devil bag less vacuum and I had to return both. I thought they would improve over time but I guess not. Purchased this a week ago and wow, and wow it took me 30 minutes to vacuum my tiny living room on my apt. I wound up returning it today for a Eureka. I made a comparison with that Eureka (my mom has a similar model) and the Dirt Devil and wow, does this suck.

    No suction

I guess you get what you pay for. About once a week the tube connecting to the canister gets clogged. The suction does not suck it through and the only way I can get it out is forcng water through the hose. I won't buy one again.

    Satisfying Choice

I purchased this item as a gift. The item has exceeded my expectations. It is very powerful. The wheels allow it to maneuver 360 degrees. It is loud but I do not know many vacuums that are quiet. Be prepared when you want to empty the cleaning cylinder. This unit picked up so much dirt that we had to empty it twice. It picked up more dirt then we expected.
