Dirt Showdown is a lot of fun, whether playing the campaign or online against friends and/or strangers. Those familiar with Dirt 3 will be familiar with the gymkhana-style events, which personally I found detracted a bit from the overall experience (in a game mostly about destruction derby style gameplay and events). One gripe some have with the game is that when your car is wrecked, you just re-spawn rather than losing the match entirely; Dirt Showdown ranks players by the points they earn while smashing up the competition. On one hand, it's not traditional destruction derby.... On the other hand, you get rewarded for actually playing and causing damage to others rather than being rewarded for being the one who is the best at being untouched (however, there is one game mode where you are tasked with seeing how long you can last before you car is completely destroyed... and everyone is targeting you). Personally, I applaud what they've done, and I'm sure in testing they found that this dynamic was more compelling than the alternative, giving them a chance to increase the enjoyment players had with the game. After all, what's the point of a video game if you can only experience the same thing as real life (ie: you can only have one car, instead of respawning as many as you want in the time limit)? ALSO - this game review is for the XBOX 360 version - if you have an XBOX 360, then you have access to the game demo and can try before you buy. Try out the game and see if you like it - if you have fun with the demo, you'll have fun in the full version... I know I did.

If you are a fan of dirt 2 and dirt 3 DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! I was expecting a racing simulations like the other two, instead it is a catoon racing game for 10 year olds.
