A sci-fi epic, that comes along once every decade, that really truly is an element and a testament to it's time. A great parable of the times and done very well. A sony 4k, so that always means quality, especially when it comes to audio impact, but due to the nature of the filming techniques deployed it may not seem nearly as earth shattering as other 4k catalogue releases. Still highly recommended.

Let's get this out of the way, the 4k version of District 9 offers some improvements over the blu ray but due to the way it's constructed and the amount of digital effects that were created at a 2k resolution for the film, it's not the best showcase for the format. It does offer delightful color imporvements thanks to HDR. That said, fans of Neil Blomkamp's allegorical debut sci-fi feature will gleefully lap up the improvements in presentation. It's an excellent film and one of the best science fiction films of the 2000s without a doubt.

What a crazy yet ingenious film that looks fantastic in 4K. for a movie that cost $30 million, the visual effects were amazing and still hold up. I still think it was the better scifi film its year of release(2009) over Avatar. Sadly the director has not come close to matching the greatness of this film with his other works, and I'm still mad we have to get District 10!!!!

District 9 comes in a really neat steelbook but that's a nice addition to a great movie. Aliens show up in South Africa and are basically put into shanty towns until the government can figure out what to with them. Sharlto Copley's character is sort of like an INS/USCIS agent and is inspecting one of the aliens homes when he comes in contact with some goo that begins to change him into an alien. From there, the government and gangs want this alien-human hybrid. Enjoyable and an interesting parable on apartheid.

This movie is different in a good way. The 4k version is worth the upgrade if you love this film. The cgi doesn’t look like cgi. It looks beautifully real. I am working to upgrade my blu ray collection to 4k discs, and this purchase is helping me get there. Now, just need them to get to work on that sequel that is promised in the first film!

Best ever sound Atmos sound movie from Peter Jackson i hope the lord of the ring sequel comes with the same Atmos sound FX, the details of District 9 movie clear picture outstanding colors and sound blow you head away with my NAKAMICHI 9.2.4 Sound bar i have seen this movie 5 times already LOL , if anyone is a sci-fi-holic buy this movie in 4K I REALLY RECOMENDED

I already had a different Steelbook for this movie, but I enjoyed the artwork for this one so I decided to go for it (plus the 4K upgrade didn't hurt). I'm glad I did because this is a great Steelbook. Matte finish on the artwork and the design, though simple, really pops in person.

An underrated movie made even better in 4k! Love UHD movies released in full screen ratio, and the mix of shots/perspective work well in this format. Special effects hold up well years later. However, one the biggest upgrades is the Atmos soundtrack. Weapons, vehicles, and alien sounds are phenomenal! Definitely worth the purchase!

This movie was presented in the style of a “Mocumentary” and its fantastic. CGI is top of the line and acting is superb. Not your typical Sci-if movie, and I’m sure as such, if you’re a big sci-fi type, it might not be as appealing. Happy with my purchase and the cool steelbook. 4k looks amazing.

This has been one of my favorite movies ever since I saw it in theaters. It really shines with this new 4K UHD release! Haven't seen it look this good since I saw it in the theater in 2009! The steelbook is fun too as it reminds me of the guerrilla marketing for the film from back in the day.

This is a spooky movie in may ways. The plot is original and you don't quite know who to root for-- the aliens or the humans? as the movie moves along and more information is disclosed you feel sorry for the ones you disliked originally! So this keeps you glued to the seat wanting to see how the thing unfolds! you will remember this movie for a long time.

This movie is amazing. Knowing that this was the directors first full length film is crazy, I’ve watched all his stuff since cuz this is a director that you should keep an eye out for. Also credit to the main actor, his first big role and he carried that movie. Loved it

Awesome movie with a great 4K transfer. This was shot in 2k I believe so the 4K picture is really good. The Atmos sound is great too and if you have seen District 9 you know what a great movie this is. I got this for $9.99 on Black Friday with a bunch of others. Just a killer deal!

I saw this move in theaters and absolutely loved it. Was excited that I could update from standard Blu Ray to 4k. The CGI isn't quite as sharp and detailed which makes it stick out a little. In the end it doesn't bother me too much and the movie was still a good watch.

I saw this in the theatre and had mixed feelings about it. In anticipation of Chappie coming out I decided to give this movie one more chance and when I saw it was available in steelbook I ordered this one and I couldn't be happier. I loved this movie and can see myself watching on at least a yearly basis. The steelbook is a great addition to my growing steelbook collection.

I like this movie not for it's acting for its style and story line. I think it's an interesting take on using aliens on how some places can be for poverty and or refugees. It makes you think about how you act if you lived in a city like that. I also like just about any Sci-fi. In a way this movie is a little like the video game Halo where it's on Earth where the Prawns would be considered the covenant. For some this will be a watch once movie but for me I'll watch it from time to time.

District 9 is a great , graphic film. Prepare yourself for a rough ride. Great performances and special effects. Lots of action and bloody violence. The disc looks and sounds amazing.

The 4K version of this movie classic is a revelation. The picture and color and resolution are stunning, as is the greatly enhanced sound quality. The movie itself is just as fresh as when it was released, a true sci-fi classic.

Sony are the best in the industry in remastering their catalog movies in 4K and 'District 9' is no different - crystal clear image and a stunning LOUD Dolby Atmos remix that leaves you aurally shaken ~ highly recommended!
