I believe this is one of the best drones money can buy! Key Features include: • 20MP Four Thirds Sensor • 24mm equivalent lens with a variable aperture ranging from f2.8 - f11 • Hasselblad branded camera • Up to 5.1K resolution (Video Mode) with 3X zoom • Night Mode • 10-bit D-Log and HDR • Ocusync 3 with up to 9.3 miles of range • Activetrack 5.0 • DJI RC • Cruise Control • Up to 46-minutes of flight time • Omnidirectional Obstacle Avoidance This is the best drone I have ever owned and here’s why…… This drone has amazing abilities. You get an outstanding Hasselblad 4/3 Camera on an incredibly stable drone. The camera is one of the biggest I have seen on any drone. This is my first drone with the Hasselblad 4/3 camera, and I will say the colors and clarity of this camera are impressive. I don't even think I will color grade any of the footage in post, yes, it is that nice. The camera also has good low light ability and an adjustable aperture from f2.8 to f11. You can adjust your aperture when you switch your camera from AUTO to PRO while the drone is connected to the controller and in camera view. This will enable you to let in more or less light which will allow you to adjust your shutter speed while keeping your ISO as low as possible while being able to add motion blur to your footage. Okay that was a lot in one sentence. Anyone who understood that skip to the next part. All others, basically slowing your shutter speed will increase motion blur in your footage which looks more cinematic and is more natural and mimics what the eyes perceive. Increased shutter speeds will reduce or eliminate any motion blur in the footage and make the image look crystal clear even in fast moving scenes. When your shutter speed increases the image can get dark and when you decrease the shutter speed the image can get very bright. Adjusting your Aperture is a way to counteract that effect, and to get you the best possible results. Night Mode is a new feature to this drone and is a video only mode. When switching over from normal video to Night Mode, its like having night vision! Okay well not exactly but the image becomes really nice. The colors from lights really pop, and the image gets a little clearer and brighter and the noise almost completely fades away. Very cool stuff here and a lot of you night shooters will benefit from this new feature. There is a lot more in the Camera department. You have different shooting modes such as: burst mode, timed shots, panoramic shots (which are my absolute favorite) and some automated shooting modes that you can pick, and the drone will perform automated moves around you without you having to input on the control sticks. With panoramic shots you can capture amazing photos and capture wide 180 degree shots or vertical panoramas and even a 360 spherical shot. To accomplish the photos, the drone will take multiple shots and then merge them together to produce an incredible image. Next up is the ability to turn on Cruise Control. This is useful for when you want to pull off smooth and consistent moves such as increasing height while circling an object. You can simply set one of the custom buttons on your controller to activate cruise control. While in flight you can just tap one of those custom buttons and let go of the control sticks the controller. The drone will continue with the last stick input unless you hit the pause button or tap the same custom button you hit to start the cruise control. The only thing that worries me about this feature is if you accidentally activate cruise control without knowing it, you might panic once you realize your drone is continuing to fly on its own. The Battery life is another great feature and is much appreciated. I usually purchase a fly-more kit but with this drone I just purchased one extra battery and that’s because the flight time on this drone is outstanding. From the moment you send it up you will see about 45 min remaining on the top right of your screen. Of course, depending on conditions such as weather and how you fly the drone you may get more or less. I find that the increased flight time allows me to get some more quality photos without landing to put in a new battery. Ocusync has always been rock solid in my testing across multiple DJI drones and now they are giving us Ocusync 3.0 that is claiming to afford us up to 9.3 miles of image transmission range. I do not think I will ever find out if it can go that far, but knowing how I fly, its more than enough. Testing out the Mavic 3 Classic in urban neighborhood with hundreds of homes around me with WIFI, I never once had a frame drop out or hiccup. Its been SOLID. As Expected. The DJI RC is one of my favorite features when flying this drone. You don’t realize how nice it is to NOT have to use your phone every time you want to fly. The DJI RC is built solid and has a nice feel in the hand. The touchscreen is responsive, fluid and the entire experience is good. The brightness of the RC is good but on a bright sunny day I can see reflections and sunlight making it hard to see what’s on the screen. Its best to find some shade when flying. This is the same with any smartphone to be fair. APAS 5.0 is something I haven’t gotten to much experience with, but the idea is the drone is able to scan the environment in Realtime and select the best way back to you when a “Return-To-Home” command is given. The environment I am in doesn’t seem to be suitable to test this. Obstacle Avoidance – So on my Air2S I was very happy to see that they added upward vision sensors which is good for return-to-home situations when you have trees around. I almost lost a drone from that because there were no such sensors on that drone. So the fact that the M3C has sensors in the front and rear and below and on top, and the way the fronts and rears are angled. You now have side coverage. So full coverage means a much safer flying drone experience for anyone. I often recommend DJI drones to anyone who asks about drones or when approached in the field. They are to be very stable, reliable and fun to fly. It really doesn’t get any better. Pro Tip: When taking photos, to ensure you get the max resolution from the Hasselblad camera, make sure your camera is set to 4:3 aspect ratio. If you select 16:9 which is tempting because everything we consume is 16:9, you will only get about 15-16MP and not the full 20MP. Not So Great: The only thing I do not like about this drone is the gimbal cover. Its more of a full body strap and makes it difficult to charge the drone with the strap attached. And without the cover on you risk damaging the huge camera at the front of the drone. I think the traditional plastic cover that snaps on is a much better design and doesn’t interfere with other functions. I think this is one of the best drones you can have in your arsenal, especially for the reduced price from the OG Mavic 3. 5 Stars – Go For It!

Before I get into the weeds, let me say that before you fly please learn and respect your local drone ordinances. A good place to start is to take the FAA TRUST exam. It’s online, free, takes less than an hour, and you literally can’t fail. I’ve been flying drones casually for a few years, back to the DJI Mavic Pro Alpine White, but I’ve become a real junkie in the last year, ever since the DJI Mavic 3 Original release. When the Mavic 3 Classic was released I knew I wanted to snag one, to have a 2nd drone that’s almost as photographically capable but less expensive which I could use for more mundane and/or risky missions. Plus my hobby has drawn the interest of a couple other family members over the last year and so it was time to expand the fleet and add a 2nd drone. Enter the Mavic 3 Classic, and it’s a perfect new addition. A big draw to the Mavic 3 Classic for me is the equipment compatibility with the Mavic 3 Original. I can use the same batteries, chargers, cases, covers, and controllers for both of them which helps keep logistics a little simpler. Camera: The only comparison I’ll make between the M3 Classic and the M3 Original is the camera; because so far as I can tell that’s literally the only difference between the two. The Classic doesn’t have the dedicated secondary (7x) telephoto lens of the Original but the main camera on them is the exact same high quality Hasselblad imaging with 4/3 sensor that gives even the Original its main imaging chops. The images are clean and natural, and in conjunction with RAW format capability make for some excellent photos straight out of the camera or for post-processing to your heart’s content. This particular package doesn’t include any Neutral Density filters but you can get an ND8/16/32/64 4 pack from DJI to expand your photo/video options. My one nit-pick on the Mavic 3 Classic is that the main camera is currently limited to 3x digital zoom instead 4x for the exact same camera on the Mavic 3 Original. I can fix that with post-production pan and zoom but it’s a curious difference since the hardware is the same. One very interesting (to me) use case for the camera, which you can see in my sample photos, is using the Mavic 3 for mild astrophotography. We aren’t talking Hubble here, but while out late one night I thought I’d see what I could manage, and it turns out I got a surprisingly nice nighttime photo of the Auriga constellation. Keep in mind I wasn’t actually flying the drone for this shot, it was firmly grounded, but an 8” exposure at 1600 ISO on the 4/3 sensor pulled in a surprising number of stars and even pulled in just a touch of red/orange from Mars, the bright object near the bottom-right of the photo. Totally not what this drone was designed for but I thought it was a fitting demo of what the lens can do in manual mode to pull off an unusual photo. Flight: Flight time is excellent, I”ve managed to consistently get very close to the advertised flight times in normal use cases even on my batteries that are almost a year old with a good bit of use on them. There’s almost never been a time I’ve burned a full battery in a single flight, I almost always get at least 2 or 3 missions out of one before needing to change, and I usually change the battery once its below 25% even though it still shows over 10 minutes of flight time. The RTH (Return To Home) function works very well though as there have been a couple of times I’ve gotten “lost in the moment” and pushed the battery all the way to the end, and the RTH function rightfully kicks in and flys it back to me. I try not to lean on that function, but it’s a nice safety blanket that I can personally attest to working as designed. Flight characteristics themselves are excellent, the Mavic 3 Classic is a very stable aerial photography platform that can hold itself steady in fairly windy conditions. Even when it notifies me that winds are high I’ve still gotten excellent videos and photos that show almost no movement whatsoever, thanks to the excellent gimbal. The point of interest and follow modes are fun, functional, and useful for tagging people and then the drone will do the work of keeping the subject in the heart of the frame from a variety of selectable angles. This is great for capturing sports and action shots so long as you are also in an open area where the drone doesn’t have to work too hard to avoid obstacles at the same time. Obstacle avoidance: There are technically 3 modes of obstacle avoidance, though one of them is “off” so I don’t really count or recommend that one. The other modes are brake and avoid. Brake mode means if the drone senses an obstacle it’ll just stop, hover, and await further guidance. In avoid mode the drone uses APAS (Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems) to try to automatically plot a path around the obstacle in real time. This can be fun to watch and It does this with varying degrees of success. It can take a little getting used to when APAS directs your drone to fly in a direction you aren’t telling it to. So if you’re going to use this mode I encourage you to get out and practice with it first so you can get a sense of how it attempts to automatically navigate various obstacles. In my experience it never made a truly bad choice, though keep in mind that the end of tree branches can be very hard to detect. Personally I like brake mode, and then I’ll just navigate the drone away from the obstacle on my own, but APAS is there for a reason and certainly has its place. Controller: The DJI RC controller is both a blessing and… not so much a blessing. It really depends how you fly and what you’re used to. I’ve been using the RC-N1 controller with a dedicated spare phone for the last year and so I’ve grown accustomed to having more apps at my disposal right on the flight controller than what you’re allowed to run on the DJI RC; basically nothing except what DJI gives you. I liked having B4UFly, for example, right on my controller for pre-flight airspace checks, Aloft Air Control for quick LAANC approvals when needed, and most importantly for simultaneously running an audio-record app to use for realtime audio commentary on my video feed which I can overlay and merge later. I can still do all those things but now I need two devices on me at all times – the DJI RC for the flight controller itself and then I need to keep my phone out and on hand for the other functions. What the DJI RC lacks in function it somewhat makes up for in convenience. I can’t say I dislike the DJI RC, it’s a bit more compact than the RC-N1+phone combo so it packs away a little more neatly, but after having gotten so accustomed to an RC-N1+phone flight workflow this last whole last year I’m not as excited about the DJI RC as I thought I would be. Still, it’s a nice option and I can always go back to the RC-N1 if I want to, but for now I’m trying to stick with the DJI RC bound to the Mavic 3 Classic, and the RC-N1 bound to the Mavic 3 Original. Closing: Honestly, I’ve barely scratched the surface of things to talk about or what this drone can do. I love drones so much and DJI drones in particular have captured my imagination for aerial photography.

Some background: This not my first drone, but nothing I used before is nearly as good as this. My last drone (from a different brand that also makes professional drones) must've missed a GPS signal and flew sideways into a tree when it was about to auto-land. The reason is I live in a heavily wooded area, and I was using my drone to inspect some ongoing major construction; so I have some previous experience with some scarring memories, as this was not the first drone I lost. However this drone is a step up in every aspect. I did not realize how big this drone is, Although it folds tightly. It feels heavy. Most of the weight seems to be in the large battery pack. It's packed with an impressive number of flight sensors, including 8 stereoscopic cameras: 2 front, 2 back, 2 top and 2 bottom. The two cameras in the front gives it a shark-like appearance. Neat For positioning it uses GPS, Galileo (European), and BeiDou (China's GNSS system) but it does not appear to support Russia's GLONASS (The older Mavic Air2 drones support GLONASS instead). Also I did not realize it has two downward white lights, which I noticed when flying at dusk. What distinguishes this 'Classic' version versus what I call the standard Mavic 3 is the camera and the controller. The Camera in the classic is an excellent Hasselblad camera, but the standard also adds a telephoto camera. Also the Classic benefits from the app-based controller, whereas the standard comes with an RF remote that connects to a mobile phone. Although I owned it for a week, I've been taking small steps to build confidence since I don't need another drone in a tree. DJI offers some very practical video courses at different levels. I took some of the basic ones to understand the equipment. For the first flight I noticed that the rear propellers are only about two inches from the ground, which means a bit of grass will interfere with the propellers, so I started from a paved surface instead. The controller is actually a customized android device. The first time I started the drone, the controller connected to Wi-Fi at the house and installed new firmware on both the drone and controller. Training materials and YouTube training videos are also available from the controller. This seems to be the same exact app 'DJI Fly' for iPhone or Android. It also interacts with FAA's B4UFLY database and DJI can even coordinate fly authorizations on restricted areas. The flight screens are very intuitive, controls are very intuitive and the screen is on par with a cell phone. Controls are well laid out. Photo shutter has half-press for focus, and overall a quality feel to it. One of the Mavic 3 features is longer range remote, with out to 30 KM for control and 15 KM for video. This in itself is impressive on specs, although I started getting interference warning not even 500 Ft away if direct line of sight was obstructed between the drone and remote. Also this remote does not have external antennas. It works best when pointed at the drone. Hovering is very precise. I could take photos and videos with no jitter either at front-face or hovering 150 Ft above the subject. There was an occasion where although I selected return to home, and had perfect video, the drone did not started its return path, but had no problem with a manual landing. The pictures I took look amazing. Note that the drone has 8 GB internal memory although it has a MicroSDHC slot which I would be using (Note that it should be loaded with a high endurance card). Video is smooth with no jitter. The remote also has a MicroSDHC slot. Images and videos can be loaded from the memory, transferred to the controller or directly from the drone to the phone via Wi-Fi, once it landed. Charging: The drone comes with a 65W USB-C GaN charger that also has a second USB port to charge the controller at the same time, which is also USB-C. Battery has to be inserted in the drone, but can be charged separately if getting the optional Fly More bundle. Metadata on the pictures taken indicates a Hasselblad L2D-20c camera and 20 MP resolution (5280 x 3956) with 4:3 Ratio. The Mavic like always defines what a personal drone can do and this does is the latest, excellently executed.

I was super excited when I got my hands on the much-awaited DJI's Mavic 3 Classic. This is DJI's latest flagship drone that brings in a few new features along with the best features you find on Mavic 3 (and cine) minus the tele photo lens at a very affordable price. Night mode, cruise control, and hyperlapse preview are the new additions on Classic 3. I used the Mavic 2 pro to shoot nature videos and compared those videos and images with Mavic 3 classic. The quality of the images is amazing- sharp and crisp- and better than Mavic 2 ones. With the dynamic range you can shoot stunning and vibrant videos that are rich in color. The amount of details you can capture with different color profile settings and 108 deg ultra-wide angle view is amazing. I definitely recommend upgrading to Classic 3 if you have been waiting to do so just to take advantage of the new features and the improved flight time. I played around with the night mode and was thoroughly impressed by the details it captured even in low light settings. My primary use of this drone will be photogrammetry and I can't wait to take it out on my next assignment and compare its performance with high end drones that I used in the past. Features • The professional grade Hasselblad camera, with an adjustable aperture, can capture images at 20MP and videos at 5.1k/50fs or 4k/120fps, which is a major upgrade compared to Mavic 2 Pro and Air 2S. This is the best camera you can find in the market today on consumer drones. While in night mode the camera automatically adjusted the settings to adapt to lowlight conditions to capture videos with high fidelity even with noise reduction. It defaults to 4k/30fps video in night mode and am hoping a future software upgrade will allow me shoot night videos at 5.1k/50fs. It has a 3X digital zoom which is good enough for not having a tele camera lens that can come at an additional cost. • Classic 3 has 46 min flight time (rated) which can vary a bit based on the wind conditions. I had no problems running it for 30 mins in windy Chicago. It's rated for 15 km range (distance between the RC and the drone) compared to 12k on the Mavic 2 and Mine 3 Pro. I didn't really get to test the range as I was flying it in windy conditions and didn’t want to lose sight of the drone. • Cruise control is my favorite feature. One less thing to worry about as I can now focus more on camera orientation and zoom. This function is great when you are shooting video while circling an object and you can capture every bit of detail even at low speed while in cruise mode. It will automatically circle the object until you turn off the cruise control. This is by far the best feature that DJI added to its feature list, and I absolutely love it! • Active tracking is the next best feature I like on this drone, can't wait to shoot my surfing buddings on my next visit. I was able to get GPS lock in 20 sec from the time it took off, which is amazing. I remember the previous gen one took minutes to get a GPS lock. • It has 8GB internal storage with the capability to add an additional 16GB/32GB/64GB memory stick. • It has omni directional sensors for obstacle detection which is a life saver for me as I shoot nature videos and tend to fly close to foliage and mountains. The DJI classic 3 is a game changer for the features it offers in its price range. Definitely recommend it if you have been waiting to upgrade from Mavic 2 and if you are looking to take your drone skills to a whole new level!

A Fantastic Entry Point for the Aspiring Pro

Long story short, the Mavic 3 classic has all the fantastic features of the Mavic 3 that that you’re most likely to use - fantastic image quality included - for a substantially lower price. It’s easy to use, controls well, and the image quality is easily top of the class. If you’re a really serious hobbyist or starting to get into professional aerial cinematography, this is a very easy drone to recommend. This particular bundle leaves a little bit to be desired; namely, a decent way to transport the drone. As it stands, I’m a little weary just tossing it in a backpack, as there isn’t any protection for the lens or propellers. I actually had the controller (which is fantastic - more on that later) crack open in my backpack during transit. It snapped back together easily enough but it was still concerning in the moment. The notable items in the box are: the drone itself, a battery, the controller, a dual output charger, and spare propellers. Everything you need to get started for sure, but you’ll likely find yourself wanting a better way to transport everything as well as spare batteries down the line. The drone itself is basically the Mavic 3 but without the telephoto lens, which is great. Obstacle avoidance is pretty solid, return to home works surprisingly well, it’s quiet (relatively speaking), and it’s extremely fast when you need it (top speed is stated to be around 45 MPH and I definitely believe that). Image quality is outstanding. Even straight out of camera, the footage looks great. I sent my family a few clips with some color correction and was told it looked like footage from a movie. It shoots 10 bit h.265 video which edited pretty smoothly on my base model Mac Studio and held up very well even to heavy color correction - which it didn’t really need. I run a media production company and purely from an image quality standpoint, this will be replacing the Air 2s as our primary drone. I’ve attached some stills from my first time taking it out. The controller is also outstanding. I can’t overstate how nice it is to be able to just turn on the drone, turn on the controller, and fly. No phones or apps required. Having to update the firmware of your remote controller is a little odd but I’ve only had one, so I can’t imagine it’ll be a hassle going forward. The screen is bright, sticks feel good (and they unscrew to be stored in back of the controller - which is great), and the battery life is great. I was out flying for half a day and only lost a few percent. My only concern is durability (for reasons I mentioned earlier). Overall, the Mavic 3 Classic is fantastic; the RC is great, and this bundle is a great way to get into the Mavic ecosystem. I’d recommend this to a friend in a heartbeat - provided they were an aspiring professional and/or a very serious hobbyist given the price point.

This is DJI's slight lower price drone from the Standard Mavic 3 A few things to point out first. Drone is small but well packaged in the box so don't be afraid that it will come in damaged. The folding of the drone legs will take a bit to get used to opening correctly. After a few time I was able to unfold it faster. 1. The Classic comes with only 1 one main camera not the dual lens the other comes with. But it makes up with the RC screen controller. So much easier to boot up and ready to drive. 2. The Drone really make anyone new to drones able to fly and hover and take images with confidence. 3. The RC controller has built in tutorials which is amazing. It allows you real time see how to activate the drone. The ability to see how the gimbal moves on the description via the training video. 4. Once you get the hang of how the controls work its very easy to boot this up and get it flying. With all the obstacle avoidance built in it will hover and warn you of any issue while filming when close to an objects. 5. The controller battery will outlast 2 full battery runs with the drone I was getting 42 mins being per use. I still had 30 to 35 percent on the RC controller. 6. Something that is really awesome is with the classic is the length of flight is so awesome plenty of time to get going and actually use the drone for over 40 mins. That sold me on it because coming from the era of 22 to 26 flight time is so much nicer. 7. One Issue is make sure when flying outside to ensure you have 10 plus GPS locks before take off. This will enable return to home which you can program on the controller. Return to home makes losing the drone less problematic. I never had any issue with this because I followed the warnings about GPS lock. The controller will give you warnings which some many not like but you can disable some of these. 8. Also not a expert but follow the laws about flying your drone in anywhere you are. It is your responsibility to ensure you are able to fly in the location you are at. 9. Have fun and enjoy this Classic. It is well worth it even for a beginner.

This is an amazing drone to have, you can see the specs for yourself and in my own words let me tell you that the DJI Mavic 3 classic right out of the box looks great as well as its remote, I like that it is of great quality and value for what you get. The 46 minute flight with its omnidirectional sensors is just excellent. It comes with a superfast charger and it comes with both cables so you can charge both the drone and remote at the same time only using one outlet. It also comes with an extra pair of propellers (Low Noise) and also a spare of control sticks just in case. The storage cover is also a nice thing to have to keep the aircraft together. I appreciate that on both the application and on the RC have tutorial videos, these tutorials are for both experienced and beginners, getting the best of your Mavic 3 classic. Getting familiar with both as well as how to use them, what functions it has, automated functions as well. Flying it is fun and with the obstacle sensing I can enjoy more flying time while it bypasses obstacles smoothly so you do not need to be experienced to fly. It also comes with cruise control so I do not have to worry about it all the time. Taking video is smooth and beautiful, with 5.1k at 50fps or 4k at 120fps either looks amazing. It also comes with many tools to make your footage amazing including ActiveTrack 5.0, it just tracks the object you choose and it follows it with precision. QuickShots makes the footage look professional with Helix, Circle, Rocket and Dronie. Photos are incredible including panorama shots that are not easy to take manually. Editing is also easy with LightCut, I like editing my videos here since I do not have to download the footage, it also comes with templates as well to make them look great. Overall it is an amazing drone and it is of good value, it is built for both beginners as well as experienced and it is a great way to get the best footage.

Mavic 3 Classic set the standard

I was totally blown away, the DJI brand is a the standard for drones!! Everything you need is included in the DJI Mavic 3 classic drone. The awesome drone, the remote with built in 1080 p control screen, battery, charger and an extra set of sticks and propellers. I wont bore you with the Mavic specifics because if you are reading these reviews you have most likely already read them. I’m not much for instructions but with the multitude of options for this drone, you need to hit up the website and download the instructions, or you could be missing out on options you didn’t even know the drone offered. I charged my unit up along with the RC, then powered up both for my initial flight. BUT first you have to log in to your account and register the drone to it. Before firing anything up do yourself a favor and create an account so you can log in on the fly. After logging in and mating with your drone the RC needed to download a firmware update and install it. With both the Drone and RC unit on. It took about 20 minutes to finish, I was then ready for my first flight, or so I thought. I had a red X message on my RC that said the internal temp of the Drone had exceeded optimal temp and need turn off and cooled down. The Drone has internal fans as I heard them running at full blast, the drone is also air cooled. So, sitting still and updating the firm ware heated it up. In your planning, update firmware before going out to try it first and allow for cool down time. While it was cooling down, I went back in and rewatched the video section again on the website. They are great. They even have classes/lessons for you (some are not yet transcribed from Chinese) The drone is perfect for beginners to advanced, especially with the built-in radar so you won’t run into things. (Great piece of mind) this isn’t fool proof though. A great selling point for those that like photography is the Hasselblad!! One of the best lenses manufactures and to marry it with this drone makes choosing this unit a no brainer. My first flight, I was a little nervous as I’m sure every one is, but there was a head wind of about 5-8 mph with gusts of 10-12.. I was in a very open area. Once the propellers turned, I went up about 25 feet and got the feel of the sticks, (you have 3 mode options for flight control movements and need to set this to your liking) I left mine on default as this to me felt more comfortable. With the wind gusting, I could see the drone making minute adjustments to stay in place. I snapped a few pics just to see if the focus was locked on or it would be blurry due to the windy conditions moving the drone. My pictures were spot on and very colorful with the changing color of the leaves. The drone can be fitted with ND filters which would have brought out more but stock is fine. You can also do some adjustment in post processing should you want to go in to it like a pro. I then went up another 25 feet above the trees and circled my property, the drone held firm against the wind. Connection was strong so I wasn’t worried about having to manually fly it back if it lost the GPS signal. I tried the video (purchased two 128 gig v30 cards. One for drone and the other for the RC) the video was smooth and resolution was great. The gimble worked like a charm. Lesser drones without the Glass and gimbal of the Mavic wouldn’t have stood a chance in the windy conditions. I then tried the ActiveTrack feature, while in flight I selected my energetic dog as he ran around our fence perimeter. It performed great and kept him in the picture the whole time he ran back and forth. I was at about 25ft. I then tried Point of interest feature at 50 ft of my house. It was almost as if I was viewing something from HGTV. I was blown away at the footage. My flight time was about 20 minutes and I still had plenty more battery but you never want to push it. I would recommend getting another battery and maybe a stand by SD card just in case. Just wish the batteries weren’t so pricey. I will try more features as weather allows (Midwest). The RC is a game changer, much better than the phone version and worth the extra amount. The screen is bright and crisp. It is the heart beat of the drone. Here is where you can set everything to your liking, from modes the resolution this is where its done. The on screen and in-flight info is great to have to keep you informed on all aspects. The connection between drone and the RC is solid. Any adjustments during flight are almost instantaneous. The response from drone to RC is fast. Transferring photos and videos and be directly from the drone or wirelessly, the manufacture says at a 80m/s but I haven’t seen that speed as of yet. our you can just use a card reader. In closing as others have said, you need to register the drone at the FCC and take the online course to get a certificate. (Keep with drone) also some states have additional laws that can be found doing a simple search for your state or area. I would also recommend some type of case to protect your costly investment. Don’t cheap out and get a back pack type. I would go with a pelican type crush/waterproof case with foam inserts fit to your drone and RC. I would recommend this to all drone hobbyist’s

Most fun I've had flying since the Air Force!

Ok, the title isn't quite correct, I did a really cool helicopter flight on the big island of Hawaii. But with the exception of that flight, the Mavic 3 Classic is the most amount of fun I've had flying since I got out of the Air Force. I got into drones pretty early on in their inception and went through to my last one a few years ago which was a DJI Mavic Air. I had worked my way (down, laterally, upgrade) to the Mavic Air because I wanted to fly without a big old drone. While it was a great drone, it was not well suited for my area, the winds, and the flight restrictions (I have two regional airports and a Naval Air Station all with overlapping flight restriction zones). I gave up for a while, but the itch was always there and boy did the Mavic 3 Classic scratch that itch! While considerably bigger than the Air, the Mavic 3 Classic, is compact enough and has been refined by DJI to pack in some serious bang for the buck and for the oz. With a flying time of 40 minutes (not in the real world, but I still got a good 30 minutes on my first flight), a rock steady platform even in some stiff breezes, and a camera that produces GORGEOUS video and stills, the Classic will go down as the sweet spot for drone pilots. Even my wife, who normally couldn't care less about gadgets like drones, was enthralled with flying this thing and watching the video afterwards. On top of being a great drone, the RC controller that comes with this kit is phenomenal! The screen is crystal clear and bright even in full sun. It is also incredibly light. I don't know how DJI packed all the gear to power and communicate with everything in such a light device. It is SOOOOOOOOO much better than the old style controller that needed a phone or tablet for the screen. Not only does the controller just feel great in the hand, but it is better balanced by not having a device clamped at the top of it. You also don't have to worry about connection issues between your external device and the controller (something that I always seemed to run into on previous drones). The controller has the DJI Fly app built into it and it makes it so easy. Transferring video and images off of the drone to your phone is really easy with the Quick Transfer feature, though my iPhone 12 Pro can not seem to hit the 80MB/s that it should get but is limited to the 10MB/s of the single channel. I did some research and I really think this is an issue with the phone and not the drone. I have only two slight quibbles with the Mavic 3 Classic. I wish it were a bit easier to get the microSD card out of the drone (still the easiest way to get footage off the drone and onto a computer). I also wish that DJI made hard cases for their drones. They have the one convertible bag but I would prefer one tailored to this model and with the protection of the hard case. Other than that, I can't think of a single thing I don't like about this thing. I have not had a lot of time to play around with all the features of the Mavic 3 Classic, but I am absolutely geeked out to learn and master everything I can do with this drone. I'm out here grinning like an idiot and drilling holes through the air. This is gonna be fun.

I had never used or operated a drone before receiving this unit for review. No matter how uncomplicated DJI’s hardware and software innovations simplify its operation, I was still a little intimidated at the thought of flying this drone. My trepidation was totally unfounded. The drone is a true joy to fly, and replete with features that helped guard against mishaps. I had read up on DJI’s highly praised Mavic 3 and noted that while this model lacks the extra camera of its sibling, it still has the same great Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS, 20 MP main camera. Picture quality, after all, is the goal in using any drone. I had seen others use tablets and smartphones to operate drones but was attracted to this package because the drone came with the fine DJI RC Controller. The newness of this model was apparent. Since I had the controller, I did not see an immediate need to install the DJI Fly app on my iPhone but install it as a backup to the controller. It turned out that when I tried to use the iPhone app, I could not get my phone connected to the drone. The Mavic 3 Classic is so new, it was not listed as a Mavic model in the software. The written directions in the box have to do with the set-up of the device. More detailed use manuals and instructions are available for download from the DJI website. The components are compactly packaged. I got the drone and controller out of the box and assembled them knowing their respective batteries would have to be charged up before the drone would be ready to fly. Fold out the four arms of the drone and install the blades, and the drone is ready to be charged up. The controller’s two joy sticks were stored under the controller and are popped out and screwed into the appropriate holes on the controller. The charger has a hard-wired USB-C cable for the drone, and a second USB-A to USB-C cable for plugging into the charger so that the controller and drone can be juiced up at the same time. The specs say the drone can be fully charged in about an hour and a half. I left the components charging all night, and when I awakened the next morning, they were ready to go. When I powered up the drone and controller, I was able to download the latest software and firmware from DJI as well as register and connect the two devices with each other. The controller’s screen is super bright and detailed, making it a pleasure to use even in direct sunlight. When all the components are updated and connected with each other, the controller simply invites the user to “Go Fly”. I did, and without issue. My flights have been short and will be short until I reach sufficient comfort level with drone flight. The maximum flying time is said to be 46 minutes, but since drones can only legally and safely fly within sight of the operator, I am hard-pressed to see how I could ever come close to pressing the battery limits. One mistake that I made was taking the drone up before installing a micro-SD card. Both the drone and the controller have a convenient slot for using a card, so a quick trip to Best Buy got me two 128GB cards for use with this package. Even though both the controller and drone do have built in memory, the SD card makes it simple to transfer files off from the drone to your computer for storage and editing. It goes without saying that no responsible operator would consider using any drone without following all FAA and local ordinances. You must register your drone with the FAA before flying it, as well qualify under FAA regulations for Part 107 operation or recreational operation and obtain the accompanying certificates depending on your intended use. As the operator, you are solely responsible for any accident or injury to person or property because of the operation of your drone. You must supply your drone registration and completion certificate if asked by the FAA or law enforcement, so be prepared if you are asked to do so. Carry all certificates with you in either paper or digital form at all times when you are operating the drone. By the way, did I mention once you do everything you need to do to get ready, the hassle will be totally worth it? Enjoy this beautiful machine and camera. I haven’t even used the video features yet, but the quality of the still pictures is superb. I am looking forward to obtaining some 4K and 5K aerial video in the next several days. Enjoy!

DJI KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!

Wow. Wow. Wow. DJI has to be the best maker of drones on the planet. I love how everything is built with a creator in mind. Everything is built with precision. I felt like a kid at Christmas unboxing this. Make no mistake about it, this thing is top of the line. I’m so glad DJI released a more affordable option in the Mavic series. Just picking it up lets you know that you’re not dealing with some mediocre piece of equipment. Even though it’s still pricey, it’s not as expensive as the Cine. Advertised as 46 minutes, so far I’ve only gotten to around 43 but I wasn’t flying it the entire time either, this is the longest flight time for a drone i have owned. Giving me a chance to capture everything needed. I love that it comes with a propeller guard to protect during storage. It also comes with extra propellers and control sticks along with a 65w charger. I have the bundle that includes the DJI RC which we will discuss in a few minutes. Unboxing and setting everything up was a breeze for me. It was charged about halfway and I couldn’t wait to get it in the air so I immediately signed in to the DJI Fly app. (I own a DJI drone so I already had an account) After verifying some info and a few updates, I was in the air. The low noise propellers are quieter than my other DJI drone but is still pretty loud to me. This drone is so powerful. I took a few photos and recorded some video of my wife cutting the grass and let me tell you it was crystal clear! The response to the controls on the remote are as precise as can be! And the DJI RC makes this experience 100 times better! If you don’t have it I would suggest purchasing it. You will not regret it. I know it’s pricey but it’s worth it. I feel like I’m flying the drone with a mini iPad. It was genius of DJI to have us break away from using our phones as a controller. That was one drawback for me with my older drone. I couldn’t stand having to connect it to my phone. But with the RC there’s no need for all of that. Everything on the screen is so beautiful. I used what DJI calls mastershots right in my own backyard where the Mavic creates its own shots and creates a video clip on its own! Mind blowing. The DJI automated shots have come a long way with active track and spotlight. I love active track because it lets you lock on to a subject while recording and focus only on that object and keep it in frame without using the controller. It also has a 3x zoom feature. The Mavic 3 classic includes 8GB of internal storage so if you bought it and don’t have any memory cards or you left them at home, you can be at ease know you can at least capture some content. I read where you can capture about 18 minutes of 4K content at 60fps with the onboard storage. I bought a 256gb storage card to start off with. You can even use a microSD card with the RC remote. So ample space to have storage. The batteries are pretty expensive but are a good investment to ensure you have enough power while capturing content. Our weather hasn’t been ideal for flying so I haven’t had the chance to fly as much as I would like. I absolutely love this drone and anyone who purchases it will love it also. Even though I know this is not DJI’s top of the line drone I feel like it is. I’m buying a nice case for storage as I don’t want anything to happen to it. (It’s also has omnidirectional sensors to help avoid accidents). DJI knocked this one our of the park for me. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

This is an excellent drone for intermediate to advanced users. The remote controller has a very nice, easy to read color screen. However, some of the icons are a little hard to see and it is difficult to change the settings when you are outside. Also, the voice warnings can be a little faint to hear. I am still learning how to use this, so maybe there is a way to turn up the volume or even pair some wireless earbuds or earphones to it. (If not, DJI I hope you are listening, that would be a great feature upgrade in future drones.) I have been a photographer since the late 70's and I loved flying the old RC planes. So, I've wanted a camera drone to take photos/videos of landscapes from a completely different perspective. It takes a little while to get used to flying this and learning what the different settings do. Unfortunately, the DJI website videos that are the only instructions and training options, aren't much help. DJI should provide a website where you can go through more in-depth video training and learn what the regulations are and what certifications you need to obtain (i.e., FAA & TRUST) before you fly. Since it is a quad copter, you can move in any direction. The controls are easy to use and the drone is very responsive. When you take your hand off the control nobs, it stops almost immediately. It has some different modes and settings when you are flying to avoid obstacles. You can set it to stop in front of an object, go around, or you can turn the avoidance off. It is very effective at detecting objects in it's path, whether they are small or large. However, I did find that it doesn't detect some small branches. It has sensors on the top, bottom, front and back. In addition, it has an option to automatically return home. You can do this at any time and it brings the drone back to the same area it took off from. When you are ready to land, you just press a button on the screen and it lands gently and turns off the blades. As a photographer who plans to mainly use this for personal photos and videos, I think the camera on this is truly amazing! It is a Hasselblad professional 4/3 sensor. You can take photos/videos in up to 5K resolution and in up to 16 x 9 format. Videos are MP4 format and photos can be either JPG, DNG, or both. There are several programs and settings you can do to give you different special effects, which they briefly describe on the DJI website. The battery life is very good with a flying time of 40-45 minutes. That does go by very fast, so I plan to purchase 1-2 additional batteries. In addition, I plan to invest in the ND (neutral density) lenses and wide angle lens. These help to fly in bright light and still get great photos and videos. The drone and the remote both can take a microSD card. The SD card is very difficult to get in and out on the drone. The FAA's app B4UFLY is a must have to identify areas you can freely fly in. Also, there are several other free and paid apps that can help you predict the best days and times to fly in. Overall, since this is my first drone, I can't say how this drone compares to others out there. However, I believe this is an excellent choice for anyone wanting a camera drone. I feel the price is very good considering the excellent camera quality and the amazing technology built into this device.

    Phenomenal drone!!

So, let's just start with this...the DJI Mavic 3 Classis is a phenomenal drone. True, you don't get the dual camera setup found on the Mavic 3. But I can tell you the Mavic 3 Classic is the same drone in every other way, and it's $600 cheaper. The 28x zoom found on the Mavic 3 is nice, but I like flying the Classic and the range is excellent, not to mention really good battery life, so I really don't mind flying closer to my subject to get the picture. The Mavic 3 Classic is first and foremost a drone, so how does it perform? I owned the original Mavic Pro and loved it. I also own the Mini 2 and love it. But the Mavic 3 Classic is by far the best performing drone of them all. It is very responsive and goes where you tell it to. It is also very stable in the wind. The Go Fly app has all the features you'll need. But I highly recommend the DJI RC controller. The screen is sharp, the controls are smooth, and it's nice not having to connect my phone. As previously stated, you don't get the dual camera setup that comes on the Mavic 3. The camera appears to be the same as the main camera on the Mavic 3. And I'm very impressed with the results. If you want to oversaturate the colors later feel free, but the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS) profile produces pretty much what your eye sees and I prefer it that way. Pictures are incredibly sharp and clear, even when the lighting isn't ideal. The picture I uploaded was taken an hour before sundown on a cloudy evening, but there was no perceptible loss of detail. 4k video is equally sharp and clear without the jitters common to drone cameras. If you want a drone that flies great, with a camera that takes phenomenal pictures, but don't need a lot of zoom, save your money and get the Classic.
