    Good travel drone

The Mavic Mini is the smallest and lightest drone from DJI that allows you to shoot up to 2.7K 30p videos and 12MP photos. It has an impressive flight time typically between 21-24min when flying continuously forward in P mode and can hover as long as 28 min with no wind. Due to the ultra light weight and only running on a 2S battery, I would fly with caution in any wind speed that exceeds more than 18MPH gust as it is less capable of fighting the wind like the larger Mavic 2 series. Also the range is limited because it uses enhanced WiFi at 5.8GHz but I was able to fly almost 2 miles away over water before disconnecting and initiating automatic RTH.

I have never owned a drone that was more than a $65 toy, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I am extremely impressed with the capabilities and value of this drone. The ability to maintain position in high winds, its speed, range, gimbal stability and flight time are fantastic. I love its compact size and travel case. I have taken it backpacking through the mountains and with 3 batteries it gives me plenty of flight time to record highlights of multi-day trips. It's also extremely easy to fly - anyone can do it. I feel like I have gotten my money's worth.

Purchased for occasional use, and as a beginners drone. Overall this drone is very easy to fly, but it also has it’s drawbacks, which are why the drone is less expensive. With the lack of obstacle avoidance you have to really be paying attention to where you are flying. I have to wear cheaters for most up close work, so trying to fly the mini from my Apple iPhone 11 Pro is a bit of a challenge. I ended up using some special safety glasses I have for the range that have the bifocal portion on the upper part of the lens, so when I look up to the sky for the drone I can see it, and when I look down at the screen the bifocals help me see the screen. They are made by a company called SPS. It’s easy to lose sight of the drone due to it’s size, so being spatially aware so you don’t panic that you just crashed $400 into a tree. The features on the drone are very good for the price point, and I certainly don’t regret purchasing the drone. I would recommend doing smaller flights until you get comfortable with it’s range and flight capabilities. One of the best features for beginners is the fact that the drone will not take off in a designated flight path. I live not far from an air force base, and my property sits just outside the flight path, so I was able to use the drone for checking and inspecting areas of my roof, or fire place, getting arial footage for outside projects to work on the design. In the summer we love using the drone to fly off the front of our boat and investigate areas near us for depth and debris that could potentially damage our boat. It helpful that I can land the drone right on my hand ifI need to. I could go on and on about all the neat features, but the bottom line is this. This is a great drone for beginners and it will provide enough experience to determine if you want to invest in larger, more sophisticated equipment. I also recommend to purchase this drone as the whole package because it comes with the extra batteries and storage case.

I love this drone! It’s great for all skill levels! Beginners - take your time. Learn to fly safely. But this drone is REALLY easy to fly! Intermediate and veteran flyers - this thing is super light and super compact. A little susceptible to wind, but fantastic for hiking. Battery life is well over 20mins per flight. I land before I risk it, but, I still average over 20 mins. As for the package, I can’t recommend the Fly More combo enough. The two extra batteries are so worth it!! GET ONE!!!!

I've been wanting to get into drone cinematography/photography for quite some time. I was never able to actually follow through with a purchase either because of the high price point, thinking that I wouldn't be able to actually fly the thing, or both. My opinion is that this is the perfect drone for any first timer getting into the hobby. You will see reviews talking about the limitations of the camera. Sure, it isn't the camera that the big boys have that are twice, or even three times the cost of this drone. But it has a camera that certainly holds its own. I have shot some video of a house that I am having built, and it is remarkable footage. I edited it with footage I shot with my iPhoneX, and the footage completely holds up and doesn't look any less quality than what I shot on my iPhone. The control is very simple. Especially once you get the hang of some of the nuances of the controls. I went out back of my house the first day I had it and did about 15-20 minutes of basic flying to get some muscle memory down, and I was pretty good to go and fly it for real. It was very simple to control, and it also has some "smart" features that will keep you from losing it ("return to home" feature for example). There are also settings to allow it to move a bit slower for smoother filming, and a Sport mode once you get good at flying and want to see what it can really do. The Fly More Combo is well worth it by way of the 2 extra batteries, alone. I have seen them go for around $45 a piece. So that right there pays for the extra $100. The batter charger case, carrying case, and propeller cage in addition makes this combo a steal, if you don't mind the little bit extra expense. I highly recommend this drone for anyone still on the fence about getting in to this hobby. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome. easy to fly right out of the box. light so when I hit something (as I do) no damage. I like the fly time and the 2 extra batteries. The camera and gimble are great. the camera cover causes more problems for me so I have stopped using it. Not having the "follow" feature like the SPARK or other Mavics is lacking, but I bought the product knowing that. Just not that I would miss it. Would buy again, would recommend.

If you are in the market for a drone and are just starting out this is the Drone for you! If you are starting out and don’t want to fork over 2K then look no further. The Mavic mini is a great drone with a incredible price. It’s packed with features that is comparable to most high end drones and under 250g weight restrictions for having to registered with the FAA. Get this drone, learn how to fly, picture and videos are great, and you can’t beat the portability.

Perfect size for travel and on-the-go drone flying. This mini creates great 2k videos. It is easy to fly and control. The videos are vibrant, high resolution. Took this on a trip to New Zealand and was highly satisfied. Pros: Compact size, light, can fit in pocket or small bag, doesn't need to be registered. Cons: Light weight has issues in moderately windy conditions, 2k instead of 4k. Occasional lost signal in certain areas.

My favorite thing about this drone is that I can fit it and the remote controller in my pockets, and take it anywhere. That combined with the capability of such a small drone when it comes to the stability and flight characteristics coupled with a great camera. Yes it obviously doesn’t compare with the more expensive drones for obvious reasons. However for $399-$499 you get a very small, lightweight, capable drone.

Easy to fly drone. Easy to set up before the flight as well. Battery lasts a very long time even more than the stated time by Mavic. Video quality is great. 2K video is perfect for my use. removed one star just due to windy conditions can cause it to have troubles. I’ve had several times where I could not fly due to wind but most likely would’ve been able to with one of the bigger drones. With that said it has to be very windy for this drone not to be able to fly. This is not just a gentle breeze causing a problem because it does great in these conditions

Very stable No FAA registration required Great video and pic quality Comes with protector prop cage for indoor flying or up-close flying outdoors Dislikes: Dont like having to take off phone case to use No lateral sensors

The Mavic Mini Quadcopter is a blast!

Over the years I have owned two quadcopters in the less than $100 range. They are fun to fly but they take time to calibrate so they stay stationary once they are in the air. Even so constant taps of the controls are still needed to counteract drift. It was a significant jump in price for me to the Mavic Mini Combo package but the jump in FUN was a smile to ear to ear. After completing the preflight calibration checks, liftoff went smoothly. Getting the quadcopter to hover in a stationary position was completely hands off of the controls. Having a camera with video displayed under the controls brought the fun up another notch. Regarding the combo pack, having three charged batteries comes in handy during the Covid-19 shelter-in-place order. 90 minutes of flight time is enough fun for one day. The propeller guards are useful for training when flying inside the house. I can practice flying using video without fear of damaging the walls. I have taken the quadcopter on outside trips by using the carrying case. All the necessary components are securely stored and protected. I know I will have many hours of fun with the Mavic Mini as I get more confident with my flying skills and start to use all the other features.

I have a Mavic Pro, Mavic Air and now the Mavic Mini. In the past the Mavic Air has been the go to for video as it seems to actually have a better camera than the Pro plus it’s more nimble, compact and battery life very solid. I’ve only flown the Mini maybe 5 times or so but I’m impressed with how light it is yet how steady the video is. The battery life isn’t as good as the Air maybe 2/3 as long and the camera is only 2.7 K vs 4 K with both Pro and Air and additionally the camera isn’t as good in low light as the Air which is best of the 3 in low light and worse also but not by as much as the Pro. I didn’t deduct any stars however considering the trade off in price, compactness and light enough that you don’t have to have a license to fly it falling within the 250 gram limit at 249 grams. It’s all plastic vs alloy metal with the others yet feels sturdy. Definitely get the fly more package as you will need the extra batteries which so far I have not found available separately as always is sold out or unavailable plus you get a 3 battery charging unit, case and extra props and prop guards which should be installed for novices to avoid injury to yourself/others and to the drone but expect even less life from the batteries with the guards.

We have had this drone now for about 9 months and this little guy is awesome. It's so easy to use. This is our first real drone and we are so glad we bought the fly more combo set. The extra batteries really come in handy because when you are flying this thing it is so fun that you want to keep going. We get over an hour of flight time with all 3 batteries and flying it in sport mode uses up the batteries much faster than the other modes. My 13 year old absolutely loves this thing. He started out by flying it in a small park and making sure he had the controls down. The automatic height control is awesome. He has flown it over 2,000 feet distance out in an open field. The camera on this thing is so clear and the settings on it really surprised me. The best advise I can give someone about this little guy is get use to the way it fly's before trying to go out over long distances and the most important thing is to check your flight parameters in the flight settings. This little guy with Return To Home with the battery is low so make sure that if you are flying somewhere with tall trees to set the return to home height, higher than the tree height.

I purchased the DJI Mavic Mini Fly More Combo for Four reasons - 1) I have never flown a quad before, so I didn't want to spend a ton on one of the higher models until I spent some time with something lower level; 2) I like the thought of having additional power to keep me flying; 3) I like the fact that this one is so lite that I don't have to register this; 4) It was all Best Buy had available for same day pickup. This DJI Quadcopter is super easy to fly and fun. I did have a panic moment on my first day. I initially set the return home height way too high (wanted to make sure I was above all trees when returning) and when I got a high wind warning I pushed the return home and it went up up up and was getting blown away. To add insult to injury, I panicked and cancelled the return home to control it myself. I thought I had the drone pointing back to me and as I pressed the joystick to fly back towards me, but it was going further way and out of sight. I realized it was me and not the wind taking the drone away from me. Bottom line - I was a newbie and should have spent a little more time familiarizing myself with the drone before venturing further away.

Great drone for advanced or beginners. Beginners will get a feel for what high-end dones should feel like and how smooth everything should be. And advanced flyers will love the compactness of this little guy and the immense power and stability they crammed into such a small package. You would think this light and small of a drone would have major problems even with a slight breeze...but just the opposite is true..it handled pretty decent gusts quite respectably and showed it is a force to be reckoned with. It has so many potential uses that even Law enforcement could utilize this little guy in bailout bags it is so compact, or fire and rescue for search and rescue and could carry this in their rucksacks. Has the ability to hit 400ft without issue and can get you the footage you need. And with 25-30 min flights you just as much if not more flight times of much heavier models, for $100 more you get the battery charging hub and 3 batteries plus more...the batteries alone is worth it. Highly recommended and I could not be happier with the Mavic Mini and the fly more combo!

We got my husband this drone for Father's day. He loves it! It is so easy to fly! I was hesitant to try it at first but my son showed me a few quick tips and off I went. My kids 18, 10, and 8, all flew it as well and totally had a blast. The camera is great! It is so smooth. The camera picture is completely steady, even in windy situations. It was very easy to take pictures and record videos with it and the quality of them were great! My husband sent it on a trip up into the sky on the 4th of July. He took videos of all of the fireworks and they turned out amazing!! I love that the controller talks to you and let's you know different things such as restrictions in certain areas, low battery etc. Another nice feature is, if you let go of the controller for any reason, the drone sits and hovers where you left it. It doesn't just fall to the ground. I thought that was pretty cool. We would just leave it hovering as we switched operators. After flying this the whole family wants one now. It really is a great gift!

This Mavic mini Is a pretty capable drone for its size. It’s quick, responsive and has a decent battery life. One thing to keep in mind is if you ever need to replace the propellers they must be a matched set. They are labeled with letters so for reference you must put A with A, B with B etc. If you mess up and mix a plus B the drone will not takeoff and will flip upside down. I don’t understand the aeronautics of that but that’s just the way the drone works. I’m sure it has something to do with thrust because there is a slight difference with the propellers from right to left. Aside from that we’ve had fun flying the drone around the yard in the neighborhood. For the price you can’t go wrong. Also consider buying DJI drone replacement program for 35 bucks. I’m sure Best Buy has one themselves. It’s going to crash at some point especially if you let your kids use it.

After weighing my choices, I finally bit the bullet and bought my first drone. While it lacks in some features from its bigger brothers and sisters (no RAW shooting, no automatic subject tracking, no obstacle avoidance sensors) it’s a worthy trade off for size, portability, and ease of flying. It’s dead simple to fly, though pay attention to the wind as it can get carried away. The fly more combo blows three batteries built in and unless you’re constantly fighting the wind, you’ll get very close to 30 minutes of flight time out of them. The camera is ok for what it is. If you’re looking for a high MP count and RAW, this isn’t for you. But it is a good start for anyone interested in aerial photography or video. All in all, it’s a solid piece of kit and a gateway to other drones.
